Time to answer another question I get quite a bit....

You have red hair, did you write Jessie about yourself?

The short answer is, no.

The long answer is that there is a part of me in each one of my characters.

I almost feel like if you blended them all together, you would get me. I very much share Devin's snarky, no bullshit side. I can relate to some of Jessie's disappointments and insecurities. I have the flyaway ambition of Silas while also realizing it might be time to reel it in. Corey has the calming influence that I feel balances my fiery side. And Salinger, well, he has been handed quite a bit of shit in his life and has persevered and come out on the other side, and I think we can all relate to that in our own way.

So, am I Jessie? I don't think so, not any more than I am Devin or Salinger, but I can tell you I have sprinkled parts of myself all over those pages because it's the only way I know how to bring the characters to life.

Where is Club 1462?

1462 is a fictional club. I have drawn inspiration from several venues and sprinkled it with my (vivid) imagination and a bit of, how I would do it if it were my club.

As far as setting, I have kept it purposely vague. I do this for two reasons. One, I want the reader to fill in their own blanks and picture it wherever they would like. And two, it could literally be anywhere. The kink scene exists all over the world and believe it or not, it is waaaaay more popular than you might think.

Another very important aspect I should mention is that, although 1462 as a fictional club, is very seductive and enticing for many readers, it is critical not to assume all BDSM or lifestyle clubs are as alluring.

The range of interests vary from club to club and so do the mentalities of the players. On one end of the spectrum, there are those who want just a taste of the thrill. On the other end, there can be some very disturbing people & behavior. However, the vast majority seem to fall somewhere in the middle of the wide expanse.

I have been to clubs where the energy is electric, and the crowd festive and light. And I have been to clubs with a darker, more menacing feel. I've witnessed true sadists & seen abuse masked as BDSM.

However, in my experience, the majority of participants are drawn to the sexy, adventurous aspects, not the seedy ones.
