Freebie Shorts #6 (Little Sister is a Bully??)

DeclanI've been tasked with babysitting my younger sister while my parents are away on their second honeymoon. I've been taking care of Alpha related problems from my house because of it. My sister can fend for herself but she's still of a tender age where she can't be left alone. To keep her from wandering and getting herself into trouble I've put her on Talon duty. She's keeping an eye on the little guy while I get some work done. It would be so much easier if Lykos were here to help me but he's away on a job right now. Two more days and he'll be back. I hope. If nothing outstanding happens then he should be back on time. Better shut up about it before I jinx him.My stomach growls. Hmm...better go make myself some lunch and check on the kiddies. Pushing away from my desk I stand and stretch allowing my muscles to pop. As I make my way towards the kitchen I hear my sister talking to Talon. I almost can't believe what I'm hearing. Making my way into the living room I stop at the entryway to watch. My sister is kneeling in front of Talon's bouncy seat saying, "You think you're some baby officer? Huh, lil' baby? You're not a baby officer!"Biting back a laugh I say, "What are you talking about?'She turns to look at me, points at Talon and says, "He looks like a cop! Like he's always wanting to fight somebody!"I can't hold it in, I double over with laughter. That's the funniest thing I've ever heard! I can't wait to tell Lykos about it. He's going to laugh his ass off. Taking a deep breath I try to calm myself down. With a smile I look at my sister and say, "You want some lunch?"She flashes a wide grin and says, "Can we have pancakes?"Laughing I say, "Yeah, we can have pancakes."

Freebie Shorts #5 (Talon's First Easter)

DeclanWhy did I think decorating Easter eggs was a good idea? Oh right, because my mate is away on a job and I wanted to give my son the best first Easter ever even if he'll never remember it. That being said, I have no idea what I'm doing. It's been years since I dyed Easter eggs and the pack is doing some sort of Easter egg hunt with the pups like they do every year. This year, I decided to pitch in and help with the eggs. Even though Talon is too young to participate in the hunt itself I'll still take him. He's watching me from his high chair and I swear I've got over 100 eggs here. Fates, this is going to take hours. Do I even have enough dye kits? I'm not sure but we'll find out.Trying to balance caring for my son and decorating Easter eggs isn't an easy task. Somewhere along the line I must have a brief moment of insanity because I enlist Talon's help in the decorating process. Not a good idea...at all.  The first thing he does is pick up the bowl of blue egg dye and dumps it on himself while I watch in horror. His cute little Easter outfit is now blue instead of white. Lykos is going to kill me. He wasn't even supposed to be wearing it yet but because I'm an idiot when half asleep it's the first thing I grabbed to dress him in.Of course, because I have no luck at all, my gorgeous mate chooses that exact moment to walk through the door.He looks around the warzone I once called a kitchen and says, "What happened here?""I volunteered to dye easter eggs for the egg hunt.""Ugh huh. You know you could've bought plastic ones and filled them with candy right? Kids seem to like them more anyways. Dyed eggs might look pretty but there's nothing inside them a kid would want. But, I guess the fun is in finding them."Glaring at him I say, "You're telling me I just boiled 100 eggs maybe more and I could've saved myself the trouble by buying plastic eggs?"He nods. "Yep. It's why I told you to wait until I got home before we did anything with eggs."I vaguely remember that conversation. Probably because we were both naked when we had it and I was focused on something else not what he was saying.Lykos sees Talon sitting in the sink and moves to pick him up. "Why is he wearing his easter outfit? and how in the hell is it blue?"Biting my lip praying he isn't too pissed at me, I say, "It's my fault. I was half asleep and it was the first thing I grabbed. It stayed pretty clean until I enlisted his help with decorating and he dumped blue dye all over himself. I'm sorry babe."He smiles at me and says, "No worries sweetness, it's nothing a little mojo can't fix.""You aren't mad?"He kisses my cheek and says, "Of course not. Besides he's ruined outfits before with a lot worse."I shudder just thinking about those times. "Ugh, don't remind me."Waving his hand, he cleans Talon up and says, "So, shall we finish these eggs?"I nod. "Yeah, there's only fifty more to go."He laughs. "Okay, Mr. Sarcasm let's get this done."WIth the two of us working together and Lykos using a bit of his magic we finish the eggs in record time. Stowing them all safely in a container we make our way to the clearing where the hunt will take place. Getting there early is a must, you have to hide all the eggs before the kids arrive otherwise they'll know where you hid them. With shifters its a bit harder. We have to mask our scents when we hide the eggs because the little ones will sniff them out in a heartbeat and that takes away all the fun.Once the eggs have been handed over to the group that will hide them, Lykos and I find a place to sit and wait for others to arrive. It's going to be a day full of laughter, fun and festivities. A perfect holiday.[image error]

Freebie Shorts #4 (Uncle Hades Drops in for a Visit)

LykosI'm sitting on the couch reading a book when all of a sudden a wall of flames appears in front of me and my uncle steps out.The man is so overly dramatic. "Hello my dearest nephew! Have you missed me?"I roll my eyes. "Of course I did uncle. How are things?"He waves a hand. "Oh the same. You know how it is."I nod. "Of course I do. So, what are you doing here?""Well I thought i'd come congratulate you on the birth of your child. Here I brought the little tyke a present."He hands me a gigantic box.I cautiously open the lid and say, "Uncle, what is this?""A baby Hellhound. I would've brought a Cerberus but there aren't many of them left and besides a three headed dog might be a little much for a child."I put a hand on my forehead and say, "Uncle. Talon is a newborn. He can't take care of a hellhound."My uncle says, "No but you can. I promise you'll thank me in the long run. Hellhounds are extremely loyal but they can also be extremely vicious. Train him up right and he'll make a fine addition to the family. You won't find another animal more protective than this one.""Okay, okay. You've convinced me."He claps his hands together and says, "Oh goodie. Here's a handbook on how to take care of him. Now where's the little tyke? I have another gift for him."He drops a book the size of three encyclopedias put together on my coffee table causing the poor piece of furniture to shake under the force of the impact."He's in the nursery."My uncle makes his way down the hall and I follow box in hand. We enter the nursery where Talon is sleeping peacefully. My uncle looks into the crib and says, "This child is already powerful in his own right. He's inherited your abilities but is also an Alpha born wolf. However, I have seen how his life will turn out as he is. It's not exactly happy. The time will come when he has to prove himself to someone and failure means the loss of his happiness. Therefore I'm giving him a bit of a leg up. He already has the powers of Zeus and Poseidon. He inherited immortality from you. So the only gift I have left to give him is a piece of me."My eyes widen. "You can't mean..."He nods. "Yes. I will give him some of my power as a gift. It isn't much. I can't throw lightening or cause storms like my brothers but I do have control of the underworld and with it the dead. The flame thing is only a simple magic trick. He'll be able to use it of course. However, I think the little one here can use the power to control the dead to his advantage. For some reason I keep envisioning him conjuring up an army of zombie skeletons or something. I seriously need to stop watching The Walking Dead. It's frying my brain and giving me outrageous ideas."I hold back the laugh I want to let out at his Walking Dead theory and watch in fascination as he says a few words in ancient Greek and places his hand over my son's heart.When he's done he turns to me and says, "It's done now. You'll have to be on high alert. Train Talon to fight as you do. He's the only demigod in existence to have the powers of the big three as everyone calls us. He'll be a target now. I know you can handle yourself and have no doubts you'll be able to protect him. You know how it goes. Once the word gets around that no one can fight you or him they'll leave him alone. Until then, you'll have to watch your back."I nod. "I know. I'll protect him with my life. Plus this little hound you gave us will help too. No one wants to fight a hellhound."He laughs. "That is true. Well, I must be going. Can't be gone too long otherwise people think it's okay to run rampant and I come back to a disorganized mess."I laugh. "Well then you better hurry. Come back and see us soon."He says, "Oh you can count on it." Then in an instant he's gone.Declan enters the room a few minutes later. "What's with the foreign scents in here?""My uncle came to visit.""Oh I see. Wait, which uncle?"I look over my shoulder at him. "Hades.""Seriously? What did he want?""To congratulate us on Talon's birth and give us some gifts."He raises an eyebrow at me. "Gifts?"I nod and hand him the box. "Gift number one a hellhound puppy."He opens the box and says, "This is insane."I look at our son and say, "Not as insane as gift number two.""What was gift number two?"I clear my throat and say, "Well, our son now has the powers of three gods instead of two."His mouth drops open in shock. "Holy shit.""We have a long road ahead of us. As soon as he's old enough I'll start teaching him to fight.""Are you sure?"I nod. "He'll be a target. Other demi-gods will try and kill him. Once word gets around that he can defend himself and there's no point in trying they'll leave him alone but until then it's going to be an uphill battle."He puts an arm around me and says, "We'll be ready.""I hope so."

Freebie Shorts #3 (A Graveyard Shift Prequel)

(Warning!! The events in this freebie take place before book three of The Graveyard Shift!! This is a teaser prequel written from the POV of one of the Fates. Do you hear it?"I nod. "Yes. Gideon Gray is pleading for our help. I'm watching him now. Even though we don't normally do so, we shall intervene."Her eyes widen. "You mean...""Yes. I've asked Clotho to check our list of fated pairs. We're going to deliver Gideon's mate to him."At that moment Clotho comes running into the room. "Atropos! There's a problem!"I turn to her. "What problem?"She holds up a sheet of parchment and says, "Gideon Gray isn't paired! We've missed one!""That's impossible! We pair them at birth either with someone born earlier, at the same time, or later. We can't just miss one! He should've been paired already. Let me see that paper."She hands me the paper and I scan it. Eyes widening at the notation beside the pairing. "Oh that's right. I missed this one on purpose."My sisters gasp. "But why?""You know I see the future of each pairing before we pair them so I can determine deaths. I saw this exact moment and more. In order to create this outcome I labeled him a D.N.P, Do Not Pair."They shout, "A D.N.P?! We never label anyone D.N.P! Sister how could you?!""Oh hush, do you want me to help pair him or not?"They fold their arms and glare at me. "Of course we do. You have someone in mind then?"I nod. "Yes but we need to take a trip."Their eyebrows skyrocket. "A trip? Where?""Egypt."

Freebie Short #2 (Forest Shenanigans)

JoshIt started out as a normal run. Kira and I were just going to have a bit of fun in the forest. Me in my wolf form and him following with his vampire speed. The problem? My wolf caught the scent of something interesting and now we've spent the last three hours tracking it down. Kira seems content to run alongside me but my human half is getting annoyed with my wolf half. Normally, we'd have given up by now but noo...he wants to find whatever it is that smells so interesting. Knowing my wolf half like I do this can only end one of two ways, bad and very very bad.As the scent steadily grows stronger I know we're getting close. Soon we'll have our pray. I'm practically salivating at the thought. Seriously, it's kind of disgusting the amount of drool that's escaping my mouth. Kira thinks it's funny. I do my best attempt at a glare in wolf form but it probably comes across as more of a squint. He laughs at my expression then sends a message through our mind link.How much further?Not too much farther. The scent is a lot stronger now.There's some rustling in the bushes ahead of us and we both freeze. We're downwind so whatever it is we're hunting shouldn't be able to scent us. We'll have to lure it out though. Attacking blind won't do much good if we miss.Kira looks down at me and whispers, "So, now that we've tracked this thing down what's next?"We have to lure it out somehow."How?"I don't know. Throw a stick or something.He picks up a decent sized stick and throws it into the bushes. There's an ungodly roar as the stick connects with something. Suddenly, a gargantuan sized grizzly bear comes barreling out of the brush straight towards us.Kira shouts, "Oh shit! Run!"We both take off in the opposite direction. Away from the bear.This is all your fault!!Kira shouts at me. "My fault?! You told me to throw the stick!"I didn't think you actually would.He rolls his eyes at me and says, "Crap it's gaining on us run faster! Go! Go! Go!"It's like watching a slow motion cartoon movie reel. He trips and lands on his face but his forward momentum pushes him through a front flip and he's back on his feet running once more. "I'm okay. If anyone asks that never happened."I nod in agreement. When our house comes into view we dive through the back door and slam it shut."I've never shifted in midair so fast before in my life."He nods. "Do you think it's gone?""I'm not about to walk out there and look.""Me either."He looks at me and licks his lips, "Soo....shall we go christen the new furniture?"I pull him in for a kiss and say, "Sounds like a plan to me. Count to ten then come find me."I take off towards the stairs laughing at his expression. Damn, life is good.

Freebie Short #1 (Giving Birth Demigod Style)

Declan"You aren't going to work are you?"Lykos turns to me and says, "Of course I am. Why?""Why? You're this close to giving birth! Going out on some dangerous job in your condition is insane!"He waves me off, "Don't worry sweetness i'll be fine.""Like hell!" I run over and block the door. "I'm not letting you leave."He narrows his eyes at me. "Step aside sweetness. I can handle myself. Overly pregnant or not. If the job was too dangerous I wouldn't be going but it isn't so I will be. Now move. Don't make me get rough with you."Switching gears, I flash him a wicked grin and say, "I like it when you get rough with me."He strokes my cheek and says, "As tempting as that offer is love I have to get going. I'll see you in a bit."Sighing I say, "No, I'll go with you. Otherwise I'll just worry myself into an early grave."He shrugs and says, "Fine. Let's go."We walk out of the house to his SUV and I make him get in on the passenger side. Can't have him driving. He'll just have to give me directions.The trip turns out to be a long one. After driving for hours I'm beginning to worry about Lykos. He's hunched up against the car door and his face is scrunched up like he's in pain. I thought he was sleeping since we've been on the same road for a while now but I guess that's not the case. Then there's the storm I've run into all of a sudden. I'm starting to think something is definitely wrong here.As we come upon a rest area I decide to pull over. Turning to Lykos, i stroke his cheek and say, "Are you alright babe?"The look he levels me with would skin the hide off Hades himself. "You scum-sucking, wet-dream looking, cock-demon bastard. I swear to the Fates if you ever do this to me again I'll personally give you a vasectomy."Holding back a laugh I say, "I take it it's time then?""Of course it is you magic dick alpha wench!"I shake my head, chuckling. His attempt at cursing me is adorable. Thinly veiled compliments. My wolf is practically dancing under the attention. However, there isn't any place nearby for him to safely have this baby which means we're basically up shits creek without a paddle.LykosI've never felt such pain in my entire life. So help me, if this ever happens again I'll strangle my mate first then make a trip to Olympus and strangle my uncle. Crazy ass old man giving me this ability as a birthday gift. Don't get me wrong I love that I'm able to carry my child but it will never happen again. I might be a vindictive asshole and transfer the ability to Declan in the future if we decide to have another. Let him go through this agony. Ooh yeah, payback. I probably shouldn't have taken the job Valik offered me. The lengthy trip was definitely a bad idea. Bet my little kiddo thinks like his dad. Protecting me from doing something dangerous by coming into the world a bit early. The job wasn't dangerous at all though. I would've been pulling guard duty helping a herd of rabbit shifters relocate. Simple. But the men in my life seem to think otherwise. Declan doesn't know we're having a boy. He wants to be surprised but I wanted to know so when we had that scan I made him leave the room. I've been secretly stocking the nursery with boy items ever since. Keeping them well hidden.Ow shit, that one really hurt. With me not having the proper equipment to give birth naturally like a woman or an omega wolf shifter I was supposed to have a C-section. Good thing I did a ton of research about the process because it seems I'll have to do it myself.I turn to look at Declan who has this worried expression on his face. "Grab my kit out of the back."His eyes widen and he says, "No way. Are you crazy?"Growling I say, "This kid is coming now whether we like it or not! If I don't get him out now we could both die! GET ME MY SHIT OR I'LL SHOCK YOUR ASS!!"I shoot mini bolts of lightening from my fingertips for emphasis. He nods and says, "Okay, calm down babe. I'll get it." He sprints around to the back of the SUV and grabs my bag from the back.He holds it open for me and I grab what I need. A knife, my emergency first aid kit with everything known to man in it, and one of my thick sweater shirts.Just as I'm about to give myself a C-section I find myself with an arm full of screaming baby boy. Declan's eyes widen as he says, "Holy shit. Did our baby just teleport?"I look down at our son who has storms swirling in his eyes and laugh. "I think he did."Declan says, "He?"I nod. "We have a son.""What should we call him? If I remember correctly you won the rock-paper-scissors match that decided who got to pick the boy name."I laugh and say, "True. I did. Let's call him Talon Cassidy-Devine. A strong name for a strong boy."Declan smiles and says, "Talon it is. So mate of mine, think you have enough energy to teleport us home? Our boy is going to need something to eat and a check up from Doc."I kiss his cheek and say, "Can do love."It only takes a second and we're home, sitting in our driveway like we haven't got a care in the world.(I hope you enjoyed this short! SO!! Since we're so close to ushering in the new year I thought I'd share my schedule for the year!! These are all the books I have lined up for 2017. Release dates, release order, and titles are all subject to change but this is likely what the year will look like :) there are some on this list that extend into 2018 but I won't release the 2018 schedule until 2018 is a bit closer. WIP Updates :)

SO, I haven't updated the blog in a while. Apologies for that. I've been busy writing my next book. D.F.W.P (A Four Horsemen Romance Anthology) Is a collection of four short stories revolving around the four horsemen. It's M/M and Paranormal. I've loved writing about these guys and developing them into their own unique character personalities. I hope that my readers will love them as well. :) Currently, I have one final story left to write and that is Pestilence's. I started on it this morning so we'll see how it goes. Once it's finished i'll send it off to be edited and then start preparing for the release date. Right now I have the release date set for January 5, 2017 but if I finish Pestilence's story before the end of November then I'll move the release date into December. :) that's all the updates I have for you guys right now enjoy the rest of your week. :) - Ezra
