Valentine's Week Giveaway #5

Of all the valentines I've collected, I must say that this is the one that is probably most like those I would have sent and received as a child in the late sixties. Wouldn't it be something if this really were one of the designs I sent to a classmate? If you'll note the little tabs up top, it's clear that Hallmark ditched the envelopes and went with the self-sealing kind of valentine card for kiddos.

The names, too, are more of my era. Instead of Margaret or Eloise (both of which I like, by the way), we've got a Julie and a Heidi. Funny enough, I was in the grocery store one night this week when a young mom stopped and asked me if I knew where to buy valentines. ("Am I on Candid Camera?" I thought.) Turns out, she'd been unable to find those mass quantities of kids' valentines at any of the grocery stores or dollar stores (I'm ashamed to admit I haven't even thought to look at those places, and what if they have tea ones!). She told me she might be forced to download something off Pinterest and print it out by the next morning. "God made Pinterest for a reason," I assured her.

Meanwhile, back in the land of giveaways, y'all know I love me some tea towels, and I was in a local antique shop recently (Treasures Lost and Found for you locals) when I bought one of these for me and one for one of you.

If you'd like to win the tea towel, just leave an "Enter me" to this post between now and 7 a.m. tomorrow, February 13, *making sure I have a way to contact you if you're the winner* and you'll be entered to win. (US only.) Good luck!

Valentine's Week Giveaway #4

I believe I have only one other vintage valentine with elephants on it, so I was tickled to find this one on eBay a while back. I really like the ones that say "You're My Cup of Tea."

And how sweet that this card was once sent from Nancy (my late mother's name) to Mary Ellen.

Now I'm especially excited about today's giveaway, something I bought two of back in January since I had a feeling it would be sold out by Valentine's Day, and it is. It's this gorgeous Echo teacups silk scarf that Talbots recently had for sale, shown here in a screen grab from their website.
I love mine and look forward to sharing the other one with one of you! If you'd like to win the scarf, just leave an "Enter me" to this post between now and 7 a.m. tomorrow, February 12, *making sure I have a way to contact you if you're the winner* and you'll be entered to win. (US only.) Good luck!

Valentine's Week Giveaway #3

Today's vintage valentine is one that I'm guessing dates to the thirties or forties based on the style of the graphics.

Inside it reads: "To my Valentine, Now certainly you can't resist, The plea my doll is making; Accept my doll, my heart and me; They're yours for just the taking." And please note the dolls' tea set!

The back of the card is signed "To Winnie From Virginia Reehl." (Or maybe it's "ReeD"? What do y'all think?)

We have tea friend Frances to thank for today's giveaway, this Harney & Sons luggage tag. She sent me a heads-up that this was on sale, and I actually needed one, but I decided to get one to give away as well. So if you'd like to win the luggage tag, just leave an "Enter me" to this post between now and 7 a.m. tomorrow, February 11, *making sure I have a way to contact you if you're the winner* and you'll be entered to win. (US only.) Good luck!

Valentine's Week Giveaway #2

Today's vintage valentine is a lucky ducky lady who is happily sipping away with her cup and saucer. Isn't she cute? You can see from the back that this was once an "easel" style of card, although the flap doesn't stand up too well now. I hope it did back when Margaret Cope first sent it!

And now for today's giveaway, some teacup trouser socks from Talbots!

And since they're green, maybe you can enjoy wearing them to a St. Patrick's Tea next month!
If you'd like to win the socks, just leave an "Enter me" to this post between now and 7 a.m. tomorrow, February 10, *making sure I have a way to contact you if you're the winner* and you'll be entered to win. (US only.) Good luck!

Valentine's Week Giveaway #1

It's Valentine's Week, so let's get this party started! Today begins a fun full week of tea-themed giveaways, but first, I wanted to share one of the new-to-me vintage valentines I've acquired in the last year. (And lest I confuse any newcomers, the vintage valentine itself is not part of the giveaway and is simply a part of my personal vintage valentine collection.) This valentine does have some scribbles on the back of the card, but they're so faint that I can't make them out. This little postcard reads "To my Valentine" and is just the sort of sweet greeting I love.

For today's giveaway, I'm offering this 2-ounce package of Love Potion #9 tea from Ohio Tea Company. I learned about this tea on the Afternoon Tea Across America Facebook page and decided this would help round out the giveaway offerings I've been gathering for the last few weeks.

Now I can't give away a tea I haven't tried myself, right? So I immediately sampled my own package of this tea and absolutely love it! The tea contains "Chinese and Ceylon tea, ginger, raspberries, rosehips, cacao shells, candy hearts, and flavoring." The cute candy hearts and X's and O's are a fun addition, and the spicy, chocolatey taste reminds me of a fancy, subtly raspberry-flavored chocolate. My oh my.

If you'd like to win this tea, just leave an "Enter me" to this post between now and 7 a.m. tomorrow, February 9,  *making sure I have a way to contact you if you're the winner* and you'll be entered to win. (US only.) And since I'm planning to go out of town next week, I would be so grateful if the winner can reply with their address promptly so I can get these goodies in the mail ASAP. Also, I know that some of you have trouble leaving a comment through Blogger, so feel free to email me at angelamcrae at charter dot net, and I'll add your name myself. Good luck, friends!

Valentines for the tea trolley

Since Valentine's Week is upon us, I decided it was time to redecorate the tea trolley, and it also gave me an opportunity to use the vintage heart-shaped candy boxes I started collecting last year. I love, love, love those things, and once in a while, I actually find one I can afford!

My newest is this pretty pink one, a slightly smaller size of the pink candy box I found last year. I looked at the candy boxes in the grocery store the other day and wondered why companies stopped making such pretty containers. The way these things are being scooped up on eBay, there is definitely a market for them.

But my favorite new decoration is what I'm calling my Valentine's Tree, inspired by one I saw in an antique mall last weekend. I almost bought their miniature red tree to decorate with my vintage tea-themed valentines, but then I remembered my pink feather tree that I've often used at Christmas, and I decorated it just like the store did by attaching the valentines with tiny clothespins.
And following are some of the valentines on my tree, mostly as a reminder that tomorrow begins SEVEN days of giveaways! I'll be sharing a "new" vintage valentine each day (one I've acquired in the last year), and I will also be giving away a tea-themed item each day. So beginning tomorrow, please join in the fun and enter daily so that I can show my L*O*V*E for all of you dear tea friends!
