Thank you for the question. I absolutely loved 'Matter' . I'm ashamed to say it was the first culture novel I'd read. It was one of those books that wasn't an easy read, being so dense with detail and complexity, but would have been less for being cut down (not just in a literal sense!). I was particularly impressed by the ending, which I felt was dramatic, poignant and used this vast assemblage of ideas to lead to this tremendous climax.(less)
