The night should have been completely black to
me.  There were just a few stars and
hardly any moon, but I saw the snow we were running on as a bluish gray, and
other shapes, like alders or hills, appeared in the darkness just when I needed
to see them.  My wolf eyes were like the
visors of some strange 3D reality video game.
I was sure of every stride my fast legs were taking—even though the
faint light shouldn’t have allowed it.

Joel ran at my shoulder.  We were nearly at the tail-end of the
pack.  I knew it was a demotion for him
to lag so far behind.  As the newest
member I should have been the lowest ranking.
I wasn’t though.  Shortly after we
started running I realized a black-furred omega was following a short distance
behind us.

I had a lot of natural instinct ruling my muscles and
mind.  If we were running in human form I
might have wanted to ask why this guy was lagging even further behind than
me.  As a wolf I didn’t need to ask.  I knew he’d fallen out of favor with the
group for some reason or another—possibly one that was never even stated in
human form.  I knew I was higher than him
and it would disrupt the pack order to reach out to the guy.  I’d follow the lead of my mate, my superior,
Joel.  His beautiful silhouette ran
beside me without a backward glance toward our ‘friend.’

Joel and I had an easy vibe going between us, one of
friendship, but also a crazy kind of magnetism.
We needed to be near each other.
Flesh to flesh or fur to fur.  I
didn’t have much of a connection with the rest of the pack yet.  Joel’s confident stride kept me from worrying
about that.  He’d brought me in.  He’d take care of me.  This made me warm inside, despite the cold.

The
run ended at an abandoned bear den with enough
matted grey fur inside to tell me this was where they usually stayed.
The alpha stood outside, not meeting any of
our eyes as we dog-piled in.  All of us
except for the omega.  He was gone now,
and I sensed the alpha was making sure he didn’t dare try to bed with
us.  I started to feel sorry for the guy.  Inside was the dense heat of
ten furred
bodies huddled together.  Outside was
below zero.

I was pinned between Joel and the back earthen wall.
Our wolf bodies smooshed together perfectly.  There didn’t seem any
position that could be
uncomfortable in this form.
Soon…probably too soon, I was fast asleep with my head resting on Joel’s
paws.

I hadn’t slept that good in years.  Wolves don’t have
insomnia, and none of the
thoughts that used to crowd my mind came to bother me.  I was truly
free.  Even sleeping this way was freedom.  I mean, I’d gone through a
night of Alaskan
winter without burning a single piece of firewood.  All those trappings
of humanity were gone,
along with the pain balled up in my past.
I got a fluttery euphoria when I saw a sliver of sunshine peeking into
the den.  What a wonderful fucking night
I’d had.

And what a wonderful new life.

Joel stirred beside
me.  He leaned his back against the wall and
turned into a human.  Seeing his bright
white flesh in the dimness of the den made my ears perk.  I sat up and
transformed also.  Yes, we were naked, but the furred bodies of
the others still kept us warm enough.

Joel smiled with his yellow eyes twinkling.  “You alright?”  His shaggy long black hair gave him a wolfen
look, even in human form.  I also noticed
how much larger he was than me.  I don’t
think I could have touched my fingers around the wrists of his thick arms.

“I’m better than I’ve ever been my whole life.”

He laughed allowing me to see his pronounced
canines.  “I know.  You fell right into stride.  I knew you would.”

Some of the others blinked awake near us, then turned
away.

“Today’s going to be a hunt.  Hiram—that’s our boss man there—“  He nodded toward the alpha’s large sleeping
form.  “He hasn’t said so, but we kind of
know these things.  It’s time to
feast.  Especially since we got a new
member.”  He winked at me.

I cracked a smile, then said, “Are we going after the
moose?”

“Yeah, I smelled him too.  But, nah.
They’re getting too scarce these days.
We’d get him if we were desperate, but there’s plenty of other game
right now.  We’re going to chase after
the caribou.  See if we can catch a
straggler or two.  We do the hunt in wolf
form.  Your muscles know what to do;
you’ll see when we get out there.”

I wet my lips in my mouth and nodded.  His words rang true.  I already felt the strong grip of instinct
when we were running.  Still, I didn’t
want to fuck up.  The last thing I wanted
was to end up ousted like the omega.

“Focus on corralling the one we target,” Joel
said.  “You may get a good chance to
pounce on him, but don’t.  The kill goes
to Hiram, or to the one he gives a nod to.
I’m thinking it might be me this time, you know?  But, anyway, stick to nipping at its legs or
cordoning it off.  Don’t go for the
kill.”

“Got it.”

Joel rubbed his hands over his bare shoulders.  “That’s all I needed to tell you.  I’m getting back in my fur.”

I clutched his thigh before he changed.  “When are we going to get a chance to talk
again?  I mean…really talk.”

Joel laughed softly.
He leaned over and gave me a soft kiss.
The heat of his mouth against mine, his moist breath—it made my belly do
a flip-flop.

“Talking’s for men,” he whispered.  He swept a hand over the side of my face—down
to the valley of my collarbone.  I got a
shiver.

“We don’t need that many words—do we?”

I swallowed a thick lump.  He was right.
I knew what we both felt for each other—the trust that was there.  Wanting to quantify things was a leftover
from my human insecurities.  I was still
learning how to be a were, still trying to shed the remnants of that old life I
hated.  I needed to get over myself and
just run with it.  Run with them.  Joel was a better teacher to me than he could
ever realize.

Hiram stood up on all four paws.  I saw all the heads of the sleeping wolves
around me turn his way.  Joel and I
quickly shifted back.

The alpha stretched while the others slowly rose.  He went to a small-ish oil-black wolf and bit
his scruff.  The wolf got up.  Hiram squashed him back down and clamped his
teeth on a mouthful of the wolf’s scruff.
His beta whimpered in pain.  Hiram’s
teeth weren’t puncturing him, but he was clamping enough flesh to make the
wolf’s shoulder’s look stretched.

I kept still, as the others did, while watching
this.  Why was he punishing him?  I don’t know.
I think this was the snide guy who voted for me not to be allowed in the
group.  He appeared to be Hiram’s mate.

Finally, the big wolf let go and his beta’s tormented
withers sprang loose again.  Hiram licked
the place he’d tortured long enough for the fur to get wet with saliva.  The black wolf rested his head on his paws
with his eyes closed and his sides expanding with fast breaths.  Without any pause, Hiram stopped licking and
ran out of the den.  We all darted after
him.

Now, it’s clear that this pack lived more as animals
than men, and they were ruled by that animal instinct far more than I
was.  But still—what the fuck was that?  It made no sense to my human or
wolf
mind.  Was this punishment for how he’d
rejected me?  I didn’t think so because
the beta was so blasé in my cabin.  He
spoke freely, without fear of any repercussions.  I don’t think the guy
was being
punished.  This was just abuse.

I love this part so much  @~@

I recently read my old series Winter Demon, and it reminded me how much I love to create graphic novels.  I hope I’ll be able to make this a big part of my writing again in the future.  Winter Demon had a very awesome sequel in Ebook form called Spring Demon.  Amazon has hidden volume 1, but I hope you’ll still check it out.

image

Takuma is a naïve village doctor living in feudal Japan with Ryuuto, his
evil fox demon boyfriend. The doctor connected with Ryuuto when he
needed the demon’s powers to heal his sister. Ryuuto demanded Takuma
stay with him in exchange for his services. Takuma agreed, and
eventually fell in love with the dour kitsune demon. Ryuuto is loath to
admit it—but he’s fallen in love with Takuma, too.

Relationships
aren’t a simple matter for Ryuuto. He’s never had a successful
relationship because he can’t control his demon nature while in the
throes of passion. This is the reason he hasn’t taken Takuma to bed yet.
For the first time the fox demon loves someone too much to hurt them.

Enter
Figaru: an incubus who needs to ‘feed’ on a regular basis or he’ll
become sick. He knows he can teach Ryuuto to control his demon nature.
He just needs some practice.
Takuma gives his permission for Figaru
to train Ryuuto, but when the time for their liaison comes he changes
his mind. Can he persuade a lustful incubus to go home without feeding?
Or will he end up on Figaru’s menu instead?

Spring Demon is a
serialized novel in three parts. It’s presented as a standalone story,
but is actually a sequel to the Winter Demon graphic novel series, also
available on Kindle!

Xenoskar was slumped in his massive black onyx throne.  It was not
his usual posture, but it bespoke the aloofness that one such as he
should have for such pitiful guests.  To sit at attention might imply a
mutual respect or even that he was honored by their presence.  Neither
was true.  Xenoskar wished it to be clear that they must be humble
before him.

His throne room was immense and sparse, with little
to interrupt the vastness stretching to impossibly high stone walls.
The solitary furniture was his throne, blacker than the eye could
understand, and with spikes of onyx rising to daunting lengths behind
him.

Bule led the avatars into the room that took five minutes to
cross.  They came to stand mere paces from the elevated stage of his
throne.  Bule moved to take his place beside Xenoskar.

Taylen had
fallen to the back of the group, furthest from his throne.  It was then
that Xenoskar understood he was a coward.  Not in battle, but as a man.

Humility, indeed allowing himself to emote any sign of weakness, terrified him.

This was hard-learned behavior.  Xenoskar realized there was more to him than he’d first concluded.

Dorvan
stepped forward and kneeled.  This most appropriate gesture of
diffidence impressed Xenoskar.  Dorvan was a man at peace with himself,
unlike the defiant twin.

“Lord Xenoskar, I am the leader of our
group, I speak for us all when I say we are heartily grateful for your
hospitality.  We all know you had rights to destroy us.  That you
didn’t—well my Lord, you’ve humbled us with your generosity.”

Xenoskar
noted the careful words.  Dorvan made certain not to admit they were in
his debt.  It was an opening he would not allow Xenoskar to capitalize
on.

“Your gratitude is noted,” Xenoskar said.  He budged his slumped posture not an inch.

Taylen made an angry expression.  Rin-Timber clasped his arm as discreetly as he could.

“I
know not why you’ve helped us, my lord,” Dorvan said.  “To be honest,
I’m afraid to ask.  But there is one thing I must ask, no matter how
impertinent.  Will you destroy the final two ogres for us?”

“Would you allow me a night with your wife if I agreed to do this?”

Dorvan’s
eyes widened and his lip parted.  Then he clenched his teeth in anger.
After taking a moment to collect himself he looked at Daxanna.  She
nodded with a face as severe as her husband’s.

“Yes, my lord.”  The warrior forced his voice to remain steady.

Xenoskar lifted his gaze toward the rest of them.  “Are all of you prepared to make similar sacrifices?”

“Yes!” Leefa said at once.  (Taylen turned his body sideways from the throne.)

“I’m willing to destroy one more of the ogres for you.”

Dorvan
grunted.  “My lord, as avatars of Helder we can vanquish an army of
orcs, a hundred drow elves, or multitude of giants with little effort.
Our bond is to defend Lavintia from any such creatures who would ravage
it.  But these ogres have armored themselves with invincible magic.
Whether it be one invincible creature or two it matters little.  We
can’t best it.  We need both ogres destroyed.”

“I’ll destroy one of the beasts for you for a price.  Remain in my favor and I may consider bartering for the other as well.”

Daxanna took a step forward.  Dorvan wet his lips from where he knelt.

“I will take my pleasure with Rin-Timber,” Xenoskar said.

“No!”

Leefa pulled Taylen away from Rin.  Jander clasped his other arm.

He now screamed.  “No deal!”

Dorvan propelled himself toward Taylen.  “Damn you, be silent!”

The
four avatars tumbled to the floor.  Dorvan covered Taylen’s mouth with a
stout hand.  The twin struggled with desperate lurches of his head.
Dorvan shot a glance to Rin.

“You’ll do it, won’t you, Rin?”

The lovelier twin’s face was marred with distress.  He forced himself to look away from Taylen towards Xenoskar.

“Do whatever you wish to me.”

The fervent affirmation caused Xenoskar to sit up.  He gave a narrow-eyed smile to Rin-Timber without showing teeth.

“Agreed.”
He gestured with one hand.  Giant black birds that had previously been
invisible teamed down from the high back of his throne.  As they
descended they transformed to harpies and plucked five of the six
avatars from the vast stone floor.

“Don’t resist them,” Xenoskar said.  “They shall return you to your quarters.”

“Rin!” Taylen screamed.  His face turned red with anguish.

The
others grimaced or shrieked, but heeded Xenoskar as they were carted
away.  (The avatars were invulnerable, and could not be harmed by the
sharp claws that held them.)

In moments only Rin-Timber remained before the throne.  He kept his eyes downcast with an expression of grief.

“Don’t be sad, my beauty,” Xenoskar said softly.

Rin peeked up at him.

The demigod gave him a placid gaze.  “I’ll not be so terrible to you.”

Rin’s throat bobbed with a gulp.  “I…I’m concerned for my brother.  This seems a greater sacrifice for him than it is for me.”

“There are still greater sacrifices he can make.  My transaction with your group is far from concluded.”

Rin’s brow rose.

Xenoskar turned to Bule.  “Make him ready for me.”

Bule marched forward and led Rin-Timber away by the arm.

This is the ENTIRE EIGHT PART Maelstrom Series!  Demetri knows giving in to Malstrum’s desires will protect his band of miners, but the heterosexual Earthling will struggle with violent courtship rituals on a planet devoid of women.

Demetri messed up in the military and now must serve as a miner on Earth’s ally planet Secren. This is the last place he wants to be.  Earth men are considered small and cute to the violent Secren men.  Demetri already ran a mine on the ice world Donovan.  This gives him enough notoriety for mine overlord Malstrum to take an interest in him.

It seems cut and dry that he’s going to rebuff Malstrum and make it on his own, but Secren is a brutal world.  The male population are all slave miners desperate to reach their quotas.  As an Earthling Demetri is an easy mark to get robbed or killed.

Giving in to Malstrum is the only way Demetri can survive.  The charismatic mine overlord decides to make it easy for him.

With all eight glorious covers embedded, and newly edited for a limited edition release, Maelstrom is back in a super value compilation!

From the Author:  Maelstrom was my attempt to realistically show how a straight manly guy could be seduced by another guy.  Demetri is a macho hetero who rather cut off his leg than kiss a man. Searing Sci Fi Romance Box Set

yaoipress:

Alien’s Bride Box Set

imageGet all three Alien’s Bride Novellas in one Sweet Box Set!!  Read the RIVETING story of Maritza, transported to a future where Earth has been conquered by the most warmongering alien’s in the Universe.  Now the LEADER of the Alien’s wants her as his bride!

I heard a noise behind me.  It was just a creak of the floorboards, but my whole body tensed up.  When I looked back my heart felt like it dropped into my stomach.  There was some freaking guy in my house!

What?  How?  Where…where was he hiding two seconds ago?  Holy shit!  What was wrong with his face?

It’s hard to take it all in while I was screaming and backing up frantically against the window.  I had a huge hulking guy in front of me who was wearing some kind of weird Pan’s Labyrinth makeup complete with twisted black horns.  Maybe not Pan’s Labyrinth.  I had no idea.  The point was that not only did I have a home invader, the freak had on Hollywood caliber fantasy make-up.  Who does this?

My apartment was the size of most people’s bedrooms.  There was nowhere for me to run.  I was on the 14th floor and the fire escape was on the other side of the building.

By this time I’d stopped screaming and I was staring at him while hyperventilating.  Was it a prank?  One of my Peace Corps buddies tracked me down?  No…I couldn’t conceive of anyone I knew going this far.

I screamed again when he moved toward me.  That’s when I realized he had something in his hand.  A gun?  No.  Like a laser pointer or something.  It had a sharp tip.  What the Hell is that—

He grabbed my shoulder and jabbed the thing into my neck.  I felt one second of pain and I heard my own scream peter out.  The floor just started heading for my face, but I felt the guy catch me before I connected.

That was it.  I blacked out.

Kind-hearted Maritza is transported thousands of years into the future to be a bride for one of the malevolent aliens who has conquered earth.

Get all three searing novellas of this bestselling sci fi romance!

I’m so used to “strong” female leads trying to act tough only to end up screwing themselves over I forgot what a good heroine looks like. Loved the main character. - Karen Green, Amazon Review

“You kept Lord Elentinus waiting a long time.”  The weird language he spoke was as clear now as it had been when he’d spoken to me through the monitor.  “This is not acceptable.  You’re being granted leeway because you’ve yet to get acclimated.  That leeway is going to quickly run out.  Do not try my master’s patience.”

I had to try to hold back tears while I stared at him.  Regardless of what was really going on here, I was more scared than I’d ever been in my life.  I hated this fear.  It all boiled down to one primal terror:  the fear of being raped.  The things I saw in Africa didn’t help matters.  If I got backed into a corner I’d turn into a screaming, scratching, kicking wild woman.  I didn’t want to see that person come out of me.

I don’t do 5 star ratings often but I really loved this book and the two that followed. I was very taken with the characters and the entire concept of the storyline. - Lisa M. Phillips, Amazon Review

He took a little black rectangular thing out of a small satchel on his hip.  When he pressed a button on it, there was a WOOM sound and a bright pink laser glowing rope thing appeared.  It started on the top of the black rectangle, went down to the floor, and spread from his feet to mine.  When I looked down I realized the laser rope went up my body towards my throat.  When I reached up I felt a fuzz of static, but then touched a collar.  It was solid and too tight for me to fit a finger under.  A new panic attack started to build inside me.

“You’re always wearing this collar even when you can’t see or feel it.  It’s composed of a force field that Lord Elentinus or I can activate at any time.”

He tugged it and I was jerked off balance.  I had to grab on to the console to keep myself from falling flat on my face.

“You can’t hide and you can’t escape this vessel.  Further, this collar will be our means of disciplining you.  If you’re disobedient we can inflict a shockwave that will wrack your entire nervous system.  No description of the pain would be adequate; therefore I’ll demonstrate the lowest possible setting now.”

“No!”  I practically screamed this.  “Please.  I believe you.  I don’t need a demonstration.  I’ll be good.  I…I promise.”

This is a very interesting premise with a really fun heroine that the modern woman can relate to. - Deborah L. Warner, Amazon Review

“What if I offer you a bargain?  If you are sweet and humble before Lord Elentinus then I won’t demonstrate the collar.  But if you offend him in any way…”

I put my face in my hand.  “Got it.  It…it’s a deal.”

That son of a bitch tugged the collar again.  I stumbled but then caught my stride.  He led me out of the white room into a corridor that had the same rounded walls.

“I’m hooked. The plot is fascinating and complex, the characters are alien yet not and the undercurrent of sexuality is sizzling.” -Night Owl Reviews
