Bridal Portrait Shot: Watching for the Groom
Mother of the Bride, isn’t this photo gorgeous and precious all at the same time? I may be a little biased since the bride is my sweet daughter Kristin, but this particular pose of watching for the groom conveys so much—grown up beauty and the promise of joy as well as little girl excitement and overflowing love. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Notice how Kristin’s photographer, Chris Humphrey, chose a beautiful spot for this shot and took advantage of perfect afternoon sun...

Sculpted Pumpkins and Jack-o-Lanterns for Fall Wedding Décor
Mother of the Bride, is your daughter planning a fall wedding? If so, the fall season opens up all kinds of possibilities for colors, décor, and food. She and her groom can add just a light touch of fall or go all out and let it permeate nearly every aspect of the wedding.
One classic fall decoration that can be incorporated into evening wedding celebrations is the simple jack-o-lantern or the more detailed sculpted pumpkin. They can feature the couple’s names as pictured above, the wedding...
God Stands Near and Gives Courage
“. . . the Lord stood near Paul and said, ‘Take courage!’” Acts 23:11 NIV
We’ve all been there—in situations where the stakes are immense and our courage has all but vanished. The life of a loved one may hang in the balance, a disaster may threaten to crush us, or a dream may be crumbling before our eyes. Fear grabs us by the throat and leaves us shaken in every way. We need courage and strength beyond our own.
We find in the Bible that the apostle Paul was no stranger to desperate and dang...

Wedding Cake Idea: A Crepe Cake!
[image error](Photo and idea by Jasmin Fine at 1 Fine Cookie)
Mother of the Bride, is your daughter looking for a unique idea for her wedding cake? If she and her groom aren’t big fans of traditional wedding cake, today’s idea might be just what’s they’re looking for.
How about a three-tiered (or more!) crepe cake? Top it and layer it with fresh strawberries and a pastry cream with whipped cream folded in and you not only have the splash of color it needs but also a sweet and yummy flavor that will tickle...

Wedding Planning Help During May Blogging Break
Mother of the Bride, even though I’m not planning a wedding myself right now, I’ve found that May is always crazy busy for me so for the past few years, I’ve been taking a blogging break the last half of May. When things get too busy, it’s always good to step back and rest from a few responsibilities as we can, isn’t it?
I’ll return with regular weekly posts on June 5th, but in the meantime I’ll leave with you some wedding planning help. Here are three resources for you:
Look through the li...Beautiful Bible Passage Plus May Blogging Break
[image error]Hey friends, my last-half-of-May blogging break tradition is on again this year! As I’ve said in the past, since for most of us May proves to be the second busiest month of the year after December, wisdom tells me to slow things down where I can. And blogging is one place where I can do that.
I’ll be back with regular weekly posts on June 5, but in the meantime, let me leave you with a beautiful passage from the Word of God. Think of these words this spring and summer when you look up at the...

A Grandmother’s Prayer
Since we often think about both mothers and grandmothers during the Mother’s Day season, I’d like to share a bit of my heart as a grandmother with you today.
I became a grandmother a little over three years ago, first to a set of twin boys and then seventeen months later to another set of twin boys. Yes, you heard right. And yes, we are incredibly blessed!
As with any grandmother, my joy-factor skyrocketed to a new level when our little loves were born. I’ve thoroughly embraced my new statu...
Pre-Ceremony Wedding Day Prayer Idea: The Mother of the Bride Prays for the Bride
Mother of the Bride, before your precious daughter says I do on her wedding day, why not send her off into her next stage of life with a prayer? What could be more meaningful than a prayer falling from the lips of the one who has loved her, watched over her, taught her, and encouraged her from the moment she was born? Yes, dear MOB, you are that treasured. Your prayer will bless her in a way that no one else’s can.
On the big day, after your little-girl-turned-bride is all dressed and waitin...
