Use Vision Boards to Bring Weddings to Life
Mother of the Bride, when it comes to preparing for a wedding, it’s too easy for you and your daughter to overthink the details. Even if you have the invitations, ceremony details, menu, and attire nailed down, it’s still tough to feel 100% confident in every decision when you can’t visualize everything all together.
Why not suggest the following vision board ideas and plan to her? As she creates it, she can share it with you so you can know exactly what she has in mind. But first, share this p...

Theme Word 2021: Serve
Yes, Virginia, I still select an annual theme word. I know I’m a little late posting it this year, but instead of kicking off the year earlier in January with my theme word post, I decided to share a blessing post. I thought that was more appropriate given the fact we as a nation—and a world—have never been so glad to see a new year arrive. If you haven’t read it yet, I hope you’ll take a minute to give it a quick read. I think it will indeed bless you!
But yes, for me, starting a new year mean...
Bridesmaids’ Manicure: Polka Dots and More
Mother of the Bride, here’s a fun idea for your daughter’s bridesmaids—polka dot nails! It might not be something the bride herself wants to do if she wants to go classic and not have her nails draw attention away from her dress or her bouquet, but this could be super fun and cute for the rest of the girls to do if it’s done tastefully.
Other design elements to the manicure could be added as well—just the tips in polka dots, a glitter line of some sort, different designs on different fingers, et...

Blessings From the Bible for the Mother of the Bride
As we begin this New Year, Mother of the Bride, I’d like to pray some blessings from the Bible over you.
After the year we endured last year with the pandemic and as we continue to wade through it (but with hope on the horizon!), we need God’s blessings in our lives more than ever. And as you help your daughter plan her wedding, I’m sure you need an extra measure of God’s strength and blessing. I want the very best for you this year as you prepare for one of the best days in the life of your fam...
A Scriptural New Year’s Blessing and Prayer for You
Happy 2021, everyone! I’m sure we’re all glad to have 2020 behind us and are hoping and praying for a better year this year. But even in the midst of the stress and distress of the past year, I have no doubt that God has strengthened us all and shown us his love in countless ways. I’m so glad he walks with us, come what may.
But now since we have a fresh year and a fresh start, here is a blessing and prayer for you straight from God’s Word. This is just one of many blessings and prayers found in...

The Constant of Christmas Plus A Blogging Break
The holiday season can be a difficult time for many. Heartaches hurt more, burdens feel heavier, and changes can be more challenging to accept. Loneliness looms larger and disappointment runs deeper. At times, Christmas joy can be hard to find. And of course, this year we have the added challenge of the ongoing pandemic impacting our lives—and our joy—as well.

God’s Unchanging Word: A Cause for Thanksgiving
“Your word, LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.” Psalm 119:89 NIV
Our lives can change in a flash. Ask those who’ve contracted a serious case of COVID or lost a loved one to its fury. Or ask those who’ve lost their jobs in the multitude of lay-offs this year or who’ve been told they’re no longer loved or wanted in their marriages. Yes, this world is full of shifting sand.
So what can we count on today? The verse above from Psalm 119 holds the answer.
When we can’t bank on anything e...

Bridal Boots and More for the Rustic Wedding
Mother of the Bride, if your little gal is planning a rustic wedding, she may want a touch of country in her attire—and that may mean boots on her feet!
Even though boots may clash a bit with the best gown of your daughter’s lifetime, they can be super cute when you have a rustic theme going on throughout the wedding. If you add a touch of rustic to the bouquet as in the photo below, the boots will even provide that additional element that will tie her attire all together. And just think of all ...
