Anne Dennish is a lifelong resident of the Jersey Shore and finds much of her inspiration from spending time near the water. She is a published author and motivational speaker, as well as a survivor of domestic violence, divorce and breast cancer.

Anne spent over 20 years as a stay at home mom to her five children, yet now as the children are leaving the nest, she’s taken that passion and put it into her writing. Her books are filled with stories of her life experiences and how she managed to get through the good times and the bad.

She is the author of “Waking Up: Lessons Learned Through My Adventures With Life and Breast Cancer,” “My Collective Soul: Things I Know Without Knowing Why,” and her newest book, “Each Breath Along The Journey.”

I have found that if I continue writing through what I consider a "block," I'm not happy with what I've written, so throughout the years I've learned to simply walk away, not stress about it, and try to find other things in my life to fill the time away from writing; and truth be told, some of my best ideas come from a writer's block because I'm experiencing life and all it offers outside of writing. I like that my life is an "open book," and that through my writing I'm able to reach people; I can change a perspective, give someone a laugh, or simply let them know that they're not alone. Writing allows you the freedom to write your life the way you want through truth and through creative license in a novel. It's the perfect world when you're a writer. At least for me it is. It's my passion.(less)

“What Happened to Us?”

I’m 64 years old and after the tragedies of yesterday I sat here and wondered “when did this world change so much?” Where did all of this judgement and hatred come from? When did the world split apart into different teams? When did we lose compassion and empathy for our fellow human beings?

On September 11th, 2001, all of our differences were put aside and we all stood together. Neighbors met in th
