Four Free Bookmarks for You

Do you read more than one book at a time? Once upon a time I refused to start another book until finishing whatever I was currently reading… but now? Um, not so much.

I am always (ALWAYS) in the middle of multiple books. Which, as one might imagine, requires multiple bookmarks.

4 cute - and free - bookmarks

Although I have a freebies page that is available to anyone, I frequently send exclusive gifts to email subscribers. I recently asked subscribers what I could offer that would be a blessing… and in addition to printab...

You Are Not a Number.

You are a person, not a performance or platform.

You’re a name, not a number.

No matter what happens (or doesn’t), you are His. God isn’t too concerned about how much money you make each month or whether you landed your dream job. I doubt He’s paying much attention to your Twitter follower count or how many people liked your last Instagram post.

I am not a number and I am not my past... I am named.

I’ve been convicted lately, reminded that the only place I can truly find my worth and place my identity is in the One who gave me a name — His. Bec...

Trust Me, I Won’t Miss the Flowers This Time.

This is my third June in Birmingham and the first time I’ve noticed the flowers. To be honest, my first June was extremely lonely and overwhelming. Even writing  that sentence feels sad and heavy… and two years have gone by. June of 2015 stretched into July and then August. It was beautiful but it was brutal and although I was living, I wasn’t alive.

(Well, technically, I was alive. But I trust that you know what I mean.)

I’m not sure how much money you’d have to pay me to re-live that summer...

so, about that question everyone keeps asking me…

“Do you think you’ll write another book?”

If I had a dollar for every time I’ve been asked that question, I could buy each and every one of you a Starbucks drink. Because oh my word, I hear it all the time.

Second-runner-up in the Most Frequently Asked list of questions: Can you tell me more about being a Virtual Assistant and working from home? (Third place/Honorable mention goes to: How can I become a VA or earn money online?)

So. About that first question…

This book is life changing...

The answer is yes. I haven’t sai...

What I Learned This Spring

One of the ways I practice showing up to my real, regular, beautifully ordinary life is by keeping track of what I’m learning along the way.

I’ve done this for over a year now, following along at the encouragement of Emily Freeman (she started the idea of “What I Learned” posts). It sounds simple — and it is — but somehow it helps me view my life through a different lens. And this time, as I moved my “What I Learned” notes from my iPhone to this blog post, I took a moment to look back at Febr...

Cleaning out the Closet

It started with the hall closet. Then came the pantry, the fridge, the freezer and the linen closet.

It’s like all those jokes about book writing or really any daunting, looming task. As soon as you’re under a deadline or you know you really need to do XYZ, you suddenly realize how dirty the baseboards are and how you need to work on your budget and oh, yes, now would be a great time to schedule all the appointments and dust all the surfaces and make that phone call.

Basically, all the things...

Even Still, I Will Praise

Sometimes, when you aren’t expecting it in the slightest, God uses your mess to bless someone else.

And sometimes you write out the exact thing you yourself need to hear, reminding yourself of what is true no matter what story the next page will tell, only to discover once again that you aren’t alone.

That is, apparently, what happened with When You Need to Know the Story Isn’t Over.

I wrote those words for me and I wrote them for you, for anyone who happened to stumble over to this little co...

When You Need to Know the Story Isn’t Over

It’s been a hard day.

That seems like an awful way to start a blog post, but it’s the first thing that comes to mind, and also? It’s the truth.

Last night, a few minutes after the Good Friday service, a friend asked if I had anything planned for the rest of the evening. I mentioned a thing or two, eventually ending with, “I know I’m supposed to write a blog post for tomorrow, but honestly I haven’t started it yet. I know what God wants me to say, but I’m not entirely sure how to say it.”

And ...

4 Free (Spring) iPhone Lock Screens

One of my favorite things to do is create free gifts for you that encourage, inspire you to share your story, and are beautiful reminders of truth.

In fact, that’s one of the reasons I wanted art and printables to be included throughout the pages of my book! {Those prints are shared only with email subscribers, but additional freebies are available to anyone on the Freebies page.}

As winter turned to spring and we exchanged sweaters for tank tops, I wanted something for my phone lock screen t...
