New Release: When I Make You Mine
I have a secret. I am no longer a virgin. A self publishing virgin that is! And boy does it feel nice. There was a little discomfort, some initial uneasiness but at the end I was comfortable and enjoyed the experience overall.I am so excited to announce the release of my debut novella, When I Make You Mine (The Richmond Series Book 1)
, out today!
On any other given day I am writing reviews for authors and their books so I want to badly say “5 out of 5 stars!” but of course I can’t do that. What I would love is if you all would leave a review on Amazon. GoodReads will be available shortly!
Official Book Blurb:
Reeling from a recent break-up, Anne is surprised when she meets Jim, her handsome ER doctor. She’s been burned one too many times before, with the most recent relationship fail happening not even an hour before they meet! Catching her on-again-off-again now definitely-off-again boyfriend with her roommate, in her own living room, was definitely not how she planned on spending her Saturday. She definitely didn’t plan on spending it in the ER either!
It’s not been Anne’s best day, to say the least!
Jim’s been looking for ‘The One’ for what seems like forever. His work hours limit his dating life and any women who come into the ER are either drunk out of their minds or are on enough drugs to make rock stars jealous. Getting involved with a patient is the last thing that he wants or needs.
Until Anne.
Will Jim and Anne get their happy ever after or does Ben, her best guy friend, have intentions of his own?
Sometimes, you have to close your eyes and listen to your heart in order to see the future.

Cover Reveal: When I Make You Mine
I am so excited to share the cover with you all for ‘When I Make You Mine’! Words cannot express how much I love it. LOVE IT!
I’m so excited to share the book with you all!
This whole process of writing a romance book has been a whirlwind and it has taken a lot longer than I thought as well. There are so many more moving parts to a book release that your head would spin and on top of that, this is a short novella! I couldn’t imagine what authors do with a full book. Well, of course I can, they hire a PA or a publicity firm or something like that if they can.
Have you ever read a book and checked out the writers acknowledgements? Before I had written anything I would read them and wonder, if the writer was just trying to kiss some a$$, then I’d question why they list everyone down to their dog? Weren’t they the ones that published it? Didn’t they do all the hard work?
Well, after writing this novella here is my answer, no, no and NO. It seriously takes a small village to write and publish something and rarely can you do everything on your own, even as an author…I take that back, you can’t do everything on your own, nor should you!
From editors, to book cover creators, to those who review your work, to your friends and family. All are impacted by your work and all take time out of their day to help you! My family has put up with me ignoring them for months to get this done because not only do I write but I host a romance book review website too, called GetYourSmutOn.com (yes, that’s seriously the name and I love it!). Top it all off I have a hubby, two kids and a day job. But I don’t tell this to feel sorry for me, I tell you this because if you are interested in writing a book, don’t let your commitments get in your way. At the end of the day only you are the only one getting in your way, there is always time if you want to make time for what you truly want to do.
Do what you love and never apologize.

When I Make You Mine – Behind the Scenes
Since I am so new to the world of publishing I wanted to give you all a glimpse into why I decided to start writing.
Over the last six months I have been running a very successful romance book review website called GetYourSmutOn.com (I kid you not, that’s the name). Through this blog I was able to review hundreds of the books that I read for some of the biggest and best authors out there. These authors ranged from those who have massive book deals to the independent authors. Of those, some were new authors while others are New York Times and USA Today best selling authors. I’m still reviewing so check it out!
Over the last four years I have been reading non-stop, reaching at my peak 400-500 books per year. Yes, some of those contain novellas as well as full books. Once my kids became bigger I was able to devote a bit more time to it and decided to start a blog. And boy am I ever glad that I did! I have gained some great understanding of the world of publishing as well as becoming friends with some wonderful bloggers, authors and voracious readers.
In reviewing books for authors I was repeatedly asked if I was writing. It only takes so much of these suggestions before you start to think, “Hmmm, maybe the suggestions are not all that far fetched.”
I put that thought on the back burner for a few months because lets face it, I’m just like everyone else. I’m slammed. I’ve got a day job, two kids and a hubby, not to mention volunteering, kids sports, and book reviewing.
What, you ask then, got me “on the horse”? Well unfortunately it was something that completely knocked me out. In October I had a very serious health scare with a side of hilarity and had many of my close friends say, “You should write a story about this.”
So I decided I would give it an initial try, just to see if I could do it. One week later, swollen hands from all of the typing, and several sleepless nights, I had a novella. Many asked why I didn’t just write a whole book but I mean seriously…a whole book? Are you kidding me? That is for the pros. I am barely dipping my big toe in the water here, I am not going to try and hit it out of the park (and more than likely fail) with a full fledged book right out of the gate. Baby steps, literally, for this girl.
Currently the novella has been edited but it is in one last and final round of edits and I am waiting on cover art. You could seriously be in “editing” land forever so I am calling it done after this last round. I’ve got some steamy cover art options to choose from as well but I want to make sure that it is perfect for the book, so we are in round two of the concepts. While everyone is waiting, here is another excerpt from the novella!
Excerpt #2:
“Do you need vitals?” Mark turns to Becky, the nurse demanding every detail of my life.
“Yes, please. Thank you.” Becky smiles at Mark. She better get off my Kool Aid.
“Yes Mark, you hot tottie; get over here and check my breasts.”
Oh no, did I just say that out loud?
Renee is about to explode with laughter so I must’ve said it loud enough for everyone to hear. I risk a glance at the hot nurse and yep, he heard it too. His cheeks and ears are completely red as a blush covers his whole face.
Kill me now.
I’m sure he has heard worse from delirious patients. And, it’s never a bad time for a boob check. Too bad I, in my delirious state, think right here and now is the best time apparently.
Thankfully, he says nothing further and sidesteps my comment like a pro. He must get that a lot. “Let’s get you checked out, miss.”
As they push me into the ER the entire room starts to spin and I am about to puke again. The bright lights are giving me a migraine the size of Texas and good lord, what do they use to clean this place with? I cannot breathe without smelling the acid/clorox-like smell.
With my senses bombarding me, making me physically sick to my stomach, I notice that I’ve lost Renee. I look around wildly wondering where she is and am worried that she won’t be able to find me. I’m now scared that they won’t let her back because she’s not family. Damn, I don’t want to be back here alone.
Nurse Bangable Pants is back at my side, “Don’t worry miss, your friend just went to park the car. I’ll make sure she gets back to you when she comes back in.”
“Nurse Bangable Pants, you’re the best.”
Fuuuuucccckkk! I said that outloud.

Teaser – When I Make You Mine
Ladies and gentleman, sooner than we know it, my debut novella called ‘When I Make You Mine’ will be out and ready for you to read! As we wait for last edits and cover art, here is an excerpt and some teasers to get you in the mood.
Quick Book Blurb:
When Anne stumbles across her on-again-off-again boyfriend and her roommate getting it on, she can’t believe it. And in her own house! (They are definitely off-again!) Unfortunately, the pneumonia and sepsis that she has been so fortunate to pick-up, has made it to where she can barely kick them out of her house without falling over in a coughing fit.
Jim’s been looking for ‘The One’ for what seems like forever. His work hours limit his dating life and any women who come into the ER are either drunk out of their minds or are on enough drugs to make purple elephants appear. When Anne is wheeled into his ER, everything changes. Immediately.
But, will her best guy friend stand in their way? Sometimes we must listen to our heart, before we judge.
‘When I Make You Mine’ Excerpt:
“Visiting hours are over.” Dr. Jim almost growls this as he clenches his jaw open and closed. His knuckles are almost turning white from his balled up fists.
Damn, I really needed to get him a bell. Speaking of bells, my phone rings again. Ugh, I need to shut that thing off.
Ben stares him down before he finally answers. “Yeah, well that’s for everyone else. I’m not leaving.”
“I’ll have security escort you out. She’s sick; there may be a bed over there but this isn’t a hotel. Have some respect.”
“You think I’m here to have sex with her?”
Dr. Jim looks from me to back to Ben. “From what I overheard, you were about to start the show.”
These two are nose to nose now. Well, slightly angled. Dr. Jim is about one inch shorter than Ben’s height of six-four. Guess that answers the question of how tall he is. Nevertheless, they are squared off and neither one is backing down.
Since I can’t physically get between them, being tethered to the hospital bed and all, I speak as loudly as my sore throat will allow. “As much as I would love to see the start to the Italian/Viking war, would you two please back off. Dr. Jim, I am not going to be having sex with anyone. Ben, tell him.”
Ben stands there smugly for what feels like five minutes before he responds with a cheeky grin. “She’s not going to be having sex with you.”
“Ben! That is not what I said and you know it.” Right then my face goes pale.
Oh shit, did I just inadvertently say I was not against having sex with my doctor? Fuuuuck.
Just as I am about to clarify, somehow, I hear Dr. Jim, “Listen Ben, no one is going to be having sex with her…”
There’s a long, pregnant pause. My mind instantly adds to Dr. Jim’s sentence in wishful thinking “…but me”. Sadly he continues on without adding it. “Visiting hours are over. You can come back bright and early tomorrow morning at nine.”
