Thank you so much! I'm so happy to hear it worked for you. :)

Something that always struck me in a lot of zombie apocalypse stories was that many of their protagonists possess this incredible will to survive. They might have moments of self-doubt and despair, but they work past it and fight their way through. But what if you didn't? What if that's just not how you were built? I started thinking about what it would be like to explore an apocalypse through the eyes of someone who didn't want to survive anymore and with that, Sloane's story started coming into place.

Thanks for your question!(less)

"What happens to girls who go missing? Courtney Summers gives her gritty take on this question and more in her latest YA mystery thriller, Sadie. “There are a lot of missing-girl stories; I wanted to remind people that at the heart of them is a girl, and the moment we deny her that humanity, we lose some of our own.” " ...More

That’s the funny thing about kisses and looks and moments stolen under covers—that you never really know while it’s happening that it’s the last time and you’ll always be trying to catch hold of it like a lightning bug on a summer evening, that one last memory, wishing to feel it again.
In romance in particular, you never know when the last moment is coming and never truly know when to savor it.

I can feel them, judging me and trying not to judge me, and I hear myself without really thinking about what I’m saying. “I know you both think I should feel bad for him, but his self-destructive streak is just another way he can get what he wants.” I breathe fog onto the back window and draw a heart. “Everyone feels sorry for him because he acts so hurt and he’s a boy, but I keep up my armor to survive, and then I’m the bad guy. It’s never enough for anyone, is it?”
I think this is ultimately a subtweet for an entire culture. I knew writing this book that Jackson was an easier person to like than Nell and I thought so long about what that meant - ultimately, Nell is afraid of her own feelings because she knows they can be turned against her and that drives so much of what she does in this book. She refuses to let herself be emotional because she thinks that's what she has to do to survive a woman in this world.

A figure that will never be petite or quite feminine enough. Before, I never particularly hated or loved my body, I just knew what it was. It was for something very particular—made to be pushed, made so I could be a winner. I loved what it did for me. Who it allowed me to be.
One of the things I loved most about writing this book is how aware Nell is of her body. She feels very secure in her own skin and has learned to weaponize it to protect herself.

Jack McClelland, Imagining Canadian Literature: The Selected Letters

“When I was a kid--10, 11, 12, 13--the thing I wanted most in the world was a best friend. I wanted to be important to people; to have people that understood me. I wanted to just be close to somebody. And back then, a thought would go through my head almost constantly: "There's never gonna be a room someplace where there's a group of people sitting around, having fun, hanging out, where one of them goes, 'You know what would be great? Hi Terra, sorry for the delay in my reply--thank you so much for reading! I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed SGA & that it resonated with you. :) My next book is post-draft, pre-edits and if all goes according to plan, should be out in 2011. Thanks again for the comment & for all the kind words. I really appreciate them!

Terra Timmons I just got Cracked up to be and I can't wait to start it!

Terra Timmons I just finished reading Some Girls Are. I couldn't put it down. I loved it and I am going out this morning to buy Cracked up to be. Are you coming out with another book soon? I hope so, I love your writing style and I just can't wait to read what else you come out with. Your book was so relatable, even though I am ten years out 12 years out of High School, this book (Some Girls Are) make me want to go out an apologize to everyone I was ever mean to. I am a changed person, but I wasn't always the sweetest in School. Love the book!!!!!

TOTES. I almost bought it in Chapters a while ago, but the prices of hardcovers = :/. There was a misprinted edition there! Like the lettering on the spine was transparent and it was cool but omg hardcover prices these days. I am really interested in it but I am not sure if the style will win me over (from what I've seen so far).
