Souls Astray Blog Tour: Character Takeover Day!

Did you miss me? I hope so, because I’m back with the Souls Astray tour, and it’s not fun to come back and find you weren’t missed. *quiet weeping* But yep, it feels a bit weird to not update every day … I’m also falling waaay behind, so that’s not good.

Y’all pray I won’t go mad, okay? I’m generally a pretty confident bloke (eh), so it’s weird that I’ve been feeling a bit like a failure lately. But I’m not. I’m just … not! So there we go. We’ll be fine.

ANYWAYS, let’s just get on with what you came for … CHARACTERS TAKING OVER! After this, I will not longer be writing this post – Adele, Troy, Millie, and Harrington will be!

Bring On the Characters

Hello folks! Troy Kee here! SO EXCITED FOR THE SOULS ASTRAY TOUR! I’m writing in green because that’s a good color. I prefer brown, actually, but Adele says brown is a boring color. So here we are in green! It’s like brown only less dead.

I frankly think you’re mad.

I’m not mad! That’s Adele, my … I don’t even know. But anyways, we’re taking over this post to give you some fun!

Indeed. *insert grunting sigh*

Harrington doesn’t think it’s going to be fun. *grins* But it is! So don’t you worry.

*waves quietly from the background* I agree with Troy!

That’s Millie Lark, Adele’s best friend. So here’s how this will work. We’ll start with doing a quick blog tour recap for everything so far that Miss Roth didn’t cover in the last post.

Since I’m the star, I should be doing this alone.

You’re not the star! Not the only one, anyway. And it’s more fun with a group. Okay, are you ready?

Yes!

*eye roll*

No.

Well, I wasn’t asking you; I was asking our fine readers here. *gestures to the audience*

They can’t respond, Troy. This is a blog post.

Didn’t you read the brief?

He can’t help it. When they were passing out brains, he was standing behind the door.

Okay, okay! Let’s just start.

Well. It’s time for crazy screaming and random crying because SOULS ASTRAY IS LIVE ON AMAZON, AND THE BLOG TOUR IS HAPPENING!

And there’s a giveaway! And it includes some special things you can do to earn extra points (#KellSaysYoureGreat).

I’m just so excited that I don’t want to wait another moment, so let’s get on with it!

Note: this blog tour I’m doing something in different in that I’m not posting every day but every other day (so Saturday, Monday, Wednesday). A bit less pressure on busy Kell, a bit fewer posts for you to read!

So-Far Blog Tour Recap
Review & Interview with Troy and Harrington // Amie W. @ Crazy A

Aggghhh, this review! (I mean, the interview was fun, but I didn’t get to read the review today!) Not only is it terribly sweet, but it’s also terribly quotable!)

My Favorites:

When I pick up Kellyn’s books, I expect magic to happen, to love and hate the characters with a passion.  Because Kellyn’s books are passionate, full and just dripping with passion.

But it’s not the bad kind of passion, not the kind of passion that makes an innocent, Christian, homeschooled teenage girl cringe.  It’s the kind that takes you out of the world you’re in, and takes you into the time period she’s writing.  It’s the kind of passion that makes you forget where you are and makes you feel what the characters are feeling.

I had no idea anyone could ever think that I wrote like that! Wow.

May 2019 Dares

Well, it’s our May 2019 Dares! Eesh. April was another fly-by month. Please tell me things start slowing down at some point? Maybe in Heaven? I hope Heaven is ridiculously slow.

But yep, between broken-down computers, Easter, birthdays and birthday parties, friends, and more … it’s been wild. May will be just as wild … but here’s for June!

In addition, things are changing and shifting in my life, I’m getting ready for some major launches, and … yeah. I’m not whining, really, but slooowwwwwnnesss is precious. If you have it, hold onto it, because it’s only for a little while.

About the Book
Faith Alone

44774210

Grace Neunaber has finally found happiness. After struggling for years as a single mother of four, she’s thrilled about her newfound faith and her marriage to a strong Christian man. But as David is added to their family of five, her enthusiasm is quickly dampened by her older children’s open hostility and resentment toward their new father.

For Grace’s daughter, Faith, having a principal for a step-dad is only one of the downsides. Her parents are nosy, restrictive, and most of all embarrassing. But Faith’s issues with her parents are quickly shoved aside when she’s faced with a decision that will change the course of her future.

Each member of the Neunaber family will have to rely on their faith in God if their strained relationships are going to knit them closer together instead of tear their family apart.

A Question of Loyalty by Jesseca Wheaton {Blog Tour + Review}

Hey y’all! Today I’ve got a review of A Question of Loyalty, a blog tour, and a giveaway! So a packed post indeed. And an exciting one!

Y’all know how much I love this series. You can view my review of A Question of Honor here and A Question of Courage here if you doubt me. So this is epic!

Anyways, I hope you enjoy reading this post as much as I’m enjoying writing it! SO EXCITED AGH. Also, I need it in print!!!

About the Book

38476906

The war has taken everything Micah Wilson has ever held dear, and with all his being he wishes he could do something to stop the heartache. But he often wonders if he’ll ever be able to move on after the war, or forget the brother who left six years before. How can God still have a plan when it seems that the world around him is falling to pieces, to say nothing of his own heart?

Ann Sullivan has seen two brothers changed by the war. And she’s resolved to do something to stop the pain she sees in their eyes from becoming a reality for so many others. The world is on the brink of Normandy when her nursing unit is shipped to England and, while there, an unexpected encounter promises to change her own life . . . forever.

Erich Essler never questioned his duty to his country. But when the man he thought of as his only friend turns out to be the enemy, he can no longer rid himself of the questions that continue to torment him. Is what he’s doing really honorable? And does he owe his loyalty to his country . . . or a higher power?

About the Author

Jesseca is a daughter, sister, and a child of God. Her days are spent reading, cooking, spending time with siblings, or playing piano. And writing, of course! At an early age words fascinated her, and her love for the printed page has only grown. She lives with her parents and seven siblings in the sunny state of Kansas, and she’s convinced there’s no place like home.

My Review of A Question of Loyalty

Well, that was an emotional roller-coaster. The first time I read it, forever ago, was as an alpha … and it was so good. It’s still good – even better, actually, because it’s been edited!

You know how I felt about book 1 and book 2. I’ve been a huge fan of this series from the very beginning. (It’s very sad to see it finished, actually.) And this was the perfect conclusion … and yet the worst conclusion … and yet perfection itself.

I am so, so sorry to see this series go! But at the same time, all the plot lines being resolved is just … ugh. Wow, I love this series! I can’t wait to purchase a paperback copy of this novel.

My favorite part of this book were the characters. Of course I’ve always loved Jesseca Wheaton’s little people – they’re amazing. And I came to love Micah and Erich more in this story! I admit I miss David and Rafe, but … there was still Anne! And she’s a spitfire.

Problems?

There was one problem with this novel: I just wasn’t a fan of Micah and Ann’s relationship. I liked it while reading the alpha draft, but when I read the final, it seemed silly to me. Weird.

But yep, that was my one problem.

Rating

5/5 stars

Why? Because it was perfect. I loved every minute, and the characters made me very happy.

Overall

This story is the perfect conclusion to Jesseca Wheaton’s Questions of War series. A Question of Loyalty hits you hard in the guts from the beginning and keeps punching until you’re a mess. In a good way.

Faith Alone | Blog Tour Intro and Mini Review!

Hey, ladies and gents! Today I’m privileged to share my review of Faith Alone along with the blog tour information (so lots of fun stops for you).

I was just going to share the blog tour info, but I realized I had a lot to say about Faith Alone. (All good things, all good things …) (Frozen reference of the day: ☑) So. You get my opinions.

Sidenote: I’ve been privileged to work with the author for about a month now, I think, and it’s been great. She’s really quite pleasant.

3 Old TV Shows You Should Watch {Part 2}

Well, at long last, we are back! I know I said this post would be coming a whiles ago, but things got crazy. (My life has been like that lately.) I’m seriously considering going back down to two posts a week. Thoughts?

But, in the meantime, let’s talk about TV shows. I … have a lot. A lot a lot. And I tend to have a lot to say about them! So scroll down (or click through), and we’ll talk about those TV shows!

(p.s. I finished with TLOTV for a while! I’m so glad. It was a huge relief. I just have to format … and order proof copies … and proofread … and …)

Still a series!

Remember that I’m still gonna be rambling about the same things as before. But with different TV shows. So. Let’s get on with it, mates.

(note: images in this post are credited to their original owners)

3 Old TV Shows You Should Watch (again)
1: Gidget

Image result for gidget tv show

Sadly, this show only ran for one season (1965/1966). But that season is a treasure! I’ve rewatched and rewatched it.

Gidget was honestly my role model as a small child. Not as in I wanted to make all the stupid mistakes and get into all the cheesy situations she did … but as in she was so great with her dad and she seemed to have so much fun and she was innocent but HUGELY amusing!

(And yes, I named my precious dog after her!)

Related image

The story centered around Frances “Gidget” Lawrence, her father, her sister Anne, and her brother-in-law, a psychiatrist. She also has a friend, Larue. She gets into lots of crazy situations and learns a lot of lessons.

Honestly, it is soooo innocently cute and good!

Image result for gidget tv show

Overall, I would recommend this TV show to pretty much everyone! I loved it when I was smaller, and now I absolutely ADORE it! Definitely rewatchable … and definitely entertaining.

My Favorites:

Gidget, of course! Her father is also a favorite of mine. He’s so sweet and such a great dad! I like Larue (even as she drives me crazy). Gotta love all Gidget’s fun catchphrases, too.

Family Friendly Guide:

This TV show is generally innocent. In a couple episodes different issues are discussed that you might want to skip over for the littlest littles.

For instance, Gidget writes her diary in advance AND makes it more exciting by saying she kissed a boy or something along those lines (but describing it … vividly). So when her dear sister Anne reads it, she assumes that Gidget is doing immoral things. Drama commences.

So mostly stuff like that (which should be fine for anyone 10+). It’s very cute and clean overall, though.

Learning Opportunities:

Being a teen is tough, and it’s just as tough NOW as it was in the ’60s. Maybe tougher. This TV show honestly shows a cuter, sweeter, more AMIABLE way of being a teen! Which was great for me.

2: Perry Mason

Perry Mason Title Screen.png

This show ran from 1957-1966, and it was a crime drama/courtroom drama/mystery thingy series that I honestly really enjoyed.

This show was so fun! Also, it taught me oodles about the court system. You know, back in the ’50s/’60s. But whatever.

Was I the only one who thought Della was the best thing ever? Even though she is “just the secretary,” she’s hugely helpful, and she doesn’t pay any mind to Paul Drake, the detective who always greets her with, “Hello, beautiful.”

I also liked Paul Drake a lot. He was so much fun! (And handsome, but shh.)

Overall, this is a great show for lovers of mystery, courtroom/legal stuff, and fun characters!

My Favorites:

Della was my favorite character, of course, and I also liked Paul Drake. I kinda liked “the villains,” too – district attorney Hamilton Burger got on my nerves, but I also thought he was a worthy adversary for Perry.

Also, Paul Drake is pretty good-looking. Just sayin’.

Family Friendly Guide:

Overall, this show was 100% clean! It centers around murder and whatnot, but there was no blood shown. Occasionally the murders included things like affairs and whatnot, as they often did, but there was never anything I couldn’t watch as a six-year-old.

Learning Opportunities:

Court stuff! Made me a lot less worried about appearing in court (if that ever happened) and taught me a lot about the legal system.

3: MASH

Image result for MASH

MASH (which stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) ran from 1972-1983. It follows the whacky MASH 4077, a unit which … is beyond quirky and out of control. But which saves just as many or more lives every day.

Honestly, what’s not to love about this show? It’s hilarious, it talks about the horrors of war (yeahhh), the characters are great (you fall in love with the cast as a whole), and it’s insanely weird.

Hawkeye Pierce, the de facto main character, isn’t a great guy, so I guess there’s that. He’s out of control, judgmental, liberal, and stubborn. But y’know. It can’t be perfect. And he is pretty funny.

You have to look past the ’70s/’80s propaganda a bit, and a lot of these guys are straight-up immoral, but eh. It’s still a great show.

MASH is so fun!

Image result for MASH tv show

Overall, I would recommend this to adults or older teens who love a ridiculous sitcom with serious undertones.

My Favorites:

In later seasons, I loved Margaret Houlihan. At first, when she was involved with Frank, she wasn’t great. But more and more, her character developed into something admiral.

Father Mulcahy is also just fantastic. B.J. Colonel Potter. Radar.

Just … the whole cast, y’all.

Family Friendly Guide:

This TV show is not so family friendly. I watched it when I couldn’t understand it – and then when I was older. Both work. So either watch it before your kids can understand sexual innuendo and whatnot or when they’re older.

We’ve Come a Long Way, Mates

Hello, mates. I’ve been thinking about the future a lot – but, though my mantra could easily be “keep moving forward” (or “live in the moment; work for the future”), I love remembering the past, too.

I’ve realized recently as I make plans for the future and think how to enact them in the present that I’ve come a long way. And you know what? So have you. If nothing else, you can read now, which is always a plus!

3 Fun Ways to Plan for the Future

I have mixed feelings about planning for the future. One part of me is so thrilled for the future that I can barely wait and can’t stop dreaming about it. The other part of me is like, “Eh. That sounds boring. What will be will be.”

So, to soothe both sides of me, I make up fun ways to plan for the future! Daydreaming is the primary one – sensible daydreaming, of course – but there are other ways.

And if you hate planning or you struggle to plan in a realistic way, these might help you! Or else it’ll just be a post to see how the inside of Kell’s silly brain works.

What Do Christian Politicians Say About Abortion? {Guest Post by Tori Easter}

And remember, I’m still open for guest post submissions, so you can click here to find out more! I would love to feature you on Reveries.

Next time I hope to talk more about old TV shows. But that just didn’t work out for today, with my schedule being CRAZY. So instead you get this lovely post!

What Do Christian Politicians Say About Abortion?

by Tori Easter

Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

~Proverbs 31:8~

The 14th Amendment states that the state wouldn’t “deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.” In 1973, the Supreme Court ruled that not allowing a woman to obtain an abortion was a violation of that right. Sadly, the unborn children have been deprived of their humanity, deprived of the fact that they have life.

I’ve always seen the excuse of abortion as a “women’s rights water basin.” The pro-choice coalition trying to wash the blood from their hands like Pilate before the execution of Jesus, except in their case, it doesn’t wash off. The basin is very large, and I’m sad to say that there are “Christians” (both so-called and true) standing by it and trying to clean themselves off.

The Bad and the Ugly

A few examples out of too many would be Hillary Clinton, Senator Cory Booker, Senator Kamala Harris, and Georgia’s gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams. Clinton, who I highly doubt is a Christian, tried to show her faith after losing the 2016 election by sharing Galatians 6:9. Yet Clinton is a staunch advocate of abortion said in an interview with Chuck Todd “the unborn person doesn’t have Constitutional rights.”

Booker and Harris are Baptists according to Wikipedia (yes, I referenced it). Baptists, along with other protestant denominations like Presbyterians, have been famously pro-life. But as of recently, the senators have shown just how opposite from Christian their values are when it came time to vote on Ben Sasse’s Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which would require doctors to treat babies who were born after failed abortions. Both senators voted “no” on the bill.

Lastly, we have Stacey Abrams of Georgia. She is well-known for losing the election for governor in 2018 to Republican Brian Kemp after numerous celebrities campaigned for her. Talk about embarrassing! Currently, Georgia is under fire for introducing a bill that would ban abortions at 6 weeks. Abrams, who in her campaign videos touted herself as a “woman of faith,” called the bill “evil” and “abominable.”

Hypocrites …

In my view, all of the above people are guilty of hypocrisy. All support feminism, which is riddled with double standards. To be clear, if you use it in its original term, as with the suffragettes, then that is all right. But today’s “third-wave” feminism flaunts about screaming of how women’s rights are always being oppressed when they’re not. But what they don’t realize is that they are killing little girls. What about her rights? Clinton’s comment seems to be a little “sexist” towards her own gender doesn’t it?

There is hope.

As terrifying as it is that people who paint themselves as pillars of virtue are in fact the complete opposite, we have quite a few people in power trying to put an end to some, if not all, abortions. And most of these people have the most power in the government.

At the top are the President, who was raised Presbyterian, and the Vice President, who is Evangelical. Earlier this year, Trump blocked funding to Planned Parenthood and shifted the money to pro life organizations. Also this year, Mike Pence spoke at the annual March For Life, saying that the current administration is the most pro life. I am proud of this fact, as should every conservative be.

It’s not just our very unpopular president!

Moving down the chain a little, we have several senators. Earlier, I mentioned Ben Sasse, who also is a Presbyterian. A recent anti-abortion bill is currently being debated, as of April 2019. This is the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which is being introduced by Lindsey Graham, the first Baptist in this post to be pro life. His bill restricts abortion at the fifth month. During a hearing on April 9th, 2019, he called out a double standard. His statement was:

We know that the unborn child at the 20th week of pregnancy can feel pain. In fact, anesthesia is administered directly to the unborn child in second trimester fetal surgery. I’m going to repeat that again. It’s standard medical practice to apply anesthesia to a child at the 20 week period because we know they feel pain. So we’re providing anesthesia to save the baby’s life through an operation. We don’t want to do it in a painful way. That’s why we provide anesthesia. That says a lot, I think, about the development of the unborn child.

Other senators who are staunch pro lifers are Baptists Ted Cruz, Mitch McConnell, and Chuck Grassley, Evangelicals Tim Scott and Rick Scott, and Methodist John Kennedy of Louisiana.

Good news …

Currently, the Born Alive Act is pending via a discharge petition, which bypasses the Speaker of the House and allows a floor vote. Because of the Democrat-controlled House, Speaker Pelosi has not allowed the bill to come to the floor. The bill is the same as Sasse’s and is being presented by Catholics Steve Scalise and Ann Wagner. My current Representative, the Methodist Buddy Carter is one of the bill’s biggest supporters, along with Christians Mark Meadows and Jim Jordan.

You can help and support these senators and representatives by sending them an email, writing them a letter, or by visiting their offices. You can also show some support through social media, where “trolls” prowl on their posts. Although they may not have time to read all the comments, the barrage on their morality can certainly be disheartening. Typing a simple “thank you for standing for the unborn” or “praying for you” may be a help.

Sadly, most of the people in our government who are standing for human life at its beginning are nearing the end of theirs. About ten of the pro life people that were mentioned are over 60 years old. The only other thing we can do is run for office, if that’s what you are into, and support the pro life millennials who are running for office.

Well, I thought that was a great post! I was so excited to see someone sharing about this subject. I can’t wait to share even more posts as the months go on! We have some great ones coming.

Having a rather tough week, but we’ll get through it a bit at a time. I’m busy, too, which is good and bad. I like being busy but hate not having as much time for everything else.

I also have a tough weekend coming up. Would appreciate prayers for that, actually! If you think of it, I mean.
