Here it comes… HOOD sale – WHISKEY release!
HERE IT COMES.
The gun has fired, the birds are in the air, the seeds have been planted, the dog is off the leash, the metaphor is getting the point across.
I’ve submitted WHISKEY, BOOK 2 of the American Rebirth Series in time for the scheduled Oct 27th release.
GET HYPED.
I know I am, lol. I can’t wait to get it out there, and I can’t wait to hear what people think. It’s been a long time coming (in my mind anyway). Pre-order is pretty interesting because you don’t see any of the sales until release day, so I’m sitting here all curious to see what that number is going to be like when the 27th rolls around.
ALSO…
I’ve scheduled promos for Oct 19th-Oct 26th… HOOD, BOOK 1 of the American Rebirth Series will be on sale for $0.99 for that week!
So basically, my plan is to sell a shitload of discounted books so that way when voracious readers want more, Book 2 will be there patiently waiting for them

Book 2 is Live on Amazon for pre-order!!!
BOOM.
It’s finally here.
WHISKEY, Book 2 of the American Rebirth Series is now live for Pre-order on Amazon. I can scarcely believe it.
I’m still working on some final editing, so I have the release date set to OCT 27th as of right now. If I get it sooner, I’ll move it up, if i need more time I’ll move it back a little bit.
But this is the home stretch. It’s been about 9 months (insert pregnancy joke here) since HOOD was released, and this baby is finally just about done.
I’m extremely excited. I can’t wait for people to read it. I might just leap out of my bedroom window with pure joy once it’s released. I’ll try to remember not to.
and remember…
Love and bleary eyes,

Review of HOOD by Evan Pickering
HOOD review by Puja Guha. Thanks for the review!
I don’t usually read a lot of dystopian thrillers, but I heard about it from a friend and picked it up. I really enjoyed the book – the characters are interesting and well developed, and as the reader, you can really feel their plight. I especially liked the moral gray area that the author explores. What would you be willing to do to save your family?
Although the setting of the book is incredibly dark and scary, the author does a good job of lightening up the plot with occasional bits of humor. Overall it was a great read and I’m looking forward to the sequel!

Podcast Interview on Spectrum Books!
Hello my dears,
So I recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by Nadine Matheson of the Spectrum Books Podcast! It was a tremendously fun interview with some pretty entertaining interview questions, ranging from intricacies of the self-pub world and to the more lighthearted, like “what book is most overrated” and “what’s the best book-to-movie adaptation, what’s the worst,” as well as “what book did you wish you wrote?”
I quite enjoyed myself. Nadine is pretty cool lady.

And yes, I am hard at work on editing BOOK 2. I’m hoping to have it done by the end of the month!

Audiobook Has Arrived!
I’m proud to say the Audiobook for HOOD is finally live! It’s available on Amazon, Itunes, and Audible. I’m psyched to finally see it up for sale! Booya!! MORE MEDIUMS!
…It might not yet be up on iTunes…cough… maybe I’m just a spazz and can’t find it.
So: something awesome. For all those who want to make ACX give me free money, if you buy the HOOD audiobook as your first purchase on Audible, then I get a free $50 bounty for bringing someone into audible!
Granted, you don’t have to do that, proceed however you like, I’m just happy to have the thing up for sale, but if you feel interested in audible or just want to make audible give me free money, do that and I will be a happy meatsack.
One way or the other, I really love how this audiobook turned out, and I’m excited to see it getting into the hands (headphones?) of listeners. For all those peeps who wanted it audio, thank you for waiting patiently! The day has finally arrived!
Whew.

*BEEP* Audiobook Launch Detected.
Can you hear it?
It’s the glorious sound of HOOD as an Audiobook featuring narrator Michael Jameson. The entire book has been recorded and revised, and is in the final stages of publication. Once final production stuffs are done and it gets approved by Amazon/ACX, it should be up for sale. I don’t know exactly how long that will take but it shouldn’t be more than a few days!
I love the way it has come out. Mike did a fantastic job, he really captured the spirit of what I wanted with the book and I can’t wait to get some reviews and hear what people think of it. With all the internal dialogue and wide range of characters/voices it wasn’t a simple book to narrate, and it came out better than I could have expected.
Not going to lie, it was pretty fun. Stressful at times, because your letting someone put your baby into the spoken word, but all in all it was an awesome experience, and I’d recommend Mike to just about anyone.
Soooo… I’ll make a post when it is live, but hear ye gentle folk, the narrated tale is nearly upon us!
BOOK 2 UPDATE: I’ve gotten back large-scale revisions from my editor, I’m going to do some changes to the draft–but it looks like there won’t be any HUGE changes necessary, so hopefully it won’t take too long to get this baby pubbed! Man, I want to see it done today. I keep reminding myself I’m in the home stretch and it won’t be long now.
Once you start publishing, you just can’t stop. MOAR BOOKS!

Small Magic
Some legit thoughts on nerddom here. This blog is awesome
Magic sucks. We’ve fucked it up. We’ve made it boring. We’ve taken something that, conceptually, contains the range of all things unexplainable, extraordinary, and mystical, and compressed it into essentially an invisible sack of hand grenades.
This isn’t just a problem with video games. It might have started with Dungeons & Dragons: D&D was originally created by combining the strategic play of war games with the high fantasy setting of The Lord of the Rings, and this origin still shapes what games are today, as well as what magic is within those games. However, while wizards and magic were an important part of the stories of Middle-Earth, these elements didn’t readily map to war game mechanics. Reading the books, it’s sometimes difficult to tell what’s magic and what’s just everyday cleverness, what’s mystical knowledge and what’s just regular everyday knowledge. Most of the time, Gandalf is a badass, largely not…
