Notion Press presents author Shashi with his book “Songs of The Mist”

The story of the Song of the Mist revolves around several characters, where everyone is in pursuit of something in their lives. It has Ayan, an Indian scientist at Geneva, who drops everything in the search of the monk of his childhood dream; Calliope from Vienna, who had fallen in love, and finally finds him living in Rishikesh; Vashudha, a celebrity singer from Mumbai, who had drifted apart, and now after decades wants to know if she really needed him. They all converge to Rishikesh in their search for an answer. And they did find Ashutosh – the Yogi; Anishka – a newly ordained yogini and the mysterious wandering Monk of Himalaya

With everyone having a distinct motive in life, the story then gradually reveals the reason behind everyone’s pursuit and brings in clarity to their thoughts; a state of self-realization and divinity. The book also features some brilliant conversations between Ayan, Ashutosh and the Monk in the backdrop of Himalaya in which the distinction between science and spirituality; love and pain; life and living is beautifully brought out by the author. The last instances of the book, where all the people who had and still loved Ashutosh meet and some hidden truths bursts forth, which then gradually lay the foundation for the next book in the series, leaving the readers wanting for more.

The landscape around which the story unfolds is brilliantly penned by the author, taking the readers on a transcendental journey across the holy Himalayas. Easily, one of the most interesting reads of the year. Grab your copy today.

Kayka from the “Songs of the Mist” book

KYAKA from “Songs of the Mist”

__________________________

“I did not want to wake the other bhikshus around your room. I just waited for you to sleep and I wished you a nightmare so that you wake up and come out.”

I was startled by her words. Did she really do that? Does she have this kind of psychic ability? I swept this feeling aside as coincidence. A simple village girl will not have that kind of practice to perform a telepathic action. She says she talks to nature, roams the mountains in middle of the night. Maybe she did. I was getting confused. That cannot be. She is just a girl trying to find some meaning to her grown-up feelings and physical needs. However, she does not look like a girl who is unsure of her womanliness; in fact she was quite sure of herself, her body, and her needs. She did what she desired.”

Yogini Anishka…

YOGINI ANISHKA!!!

From my book “Songs of the Mist”

_______________________

“Yogini sat down with her cup of tea on a stone next to me and looked far away at the Neelkanth Peak.

“When I am with people in the village or in meditation, I lose the awareness of myself. I don’t relate with my physical self as I have always thought it to be different from me. Somehow, I am entangled within it, like a tree that is covered all over by snaking vines. It flowers and has large leaves, shading and seemingly protecting me from the external elements, but deep down I know it’s devouring me. This constant struggle with my own mind of uprooting and throwing those vines away all the time has blurred the vision of my own existence. I feel that there must be something horribly wrong with me to sprout such a flowery vine and wear it all the time. Coming over to the ashram was part of the exercise to come to terms with it and I still have not. There’s always something, some need, some feeling that takes root and grows out into existence.”

“Everything takes time Yogini and you have taken the first step. Take another and then another. We live our life in the steps, not at the end. When the time is right, you will find your space in universal design. That space is the reality of our consciousness; rest is layers upon layers of memories, desires, and insecurities of mind. The problem is that within these layers, we lose the sense of our purpose and drift along like the clouds in the sky, inadvertently bringing rain or sunshine in our lives. But if we dive deeper into the awareness of our being, we will find the true purpose of our living.”

THE MONK KEY SERIES PART I – COVER PICTURE

The book will be published on 27th Nov, 2015 and will be available on various online and offline platforms…

The Monk The Monk

My friend Aswani Bhai suggested, after reading my book, this cover image from my pictures of my brother +Animesh and I am inclined towards it too for mainly two reasons…

1 ) It does depict what I am writing about and puneet has been kind of guiding force to write this book.

2 ) This image is from Jageshwar Dham, one of the most powerful temples of Lord Shiva, I have visited.

I am going to work on this image by placing a mobile phone next to him, as suggested by Aswani Bhai… and make it a better so that it can be printed on the cover of the book, as the problem is that the original image I have lost somewhere in the hard drives I have had for my pictures… lets see how it goes from here….

Team – Editing

I believe that good editing is the most important process for any fiction writing, hence I have had given some serious thoughts to editing of my first book “The Monk Key” . Now it has gone into Editing phase with three very good editors, who I believe are closer to my thought process. This personal connection, I believe, is required to bring out the underlying essence of my books, i.e. “Science of spirituality is nurture the divinity within” to the forefront.

Waiting ... Waiting …

I am happy to announce our editorial team, before it goes into publication, by end of Oct, 2015.

MaheshNandhitha (Recommended by my good friend and a great author herself Ganga Bharani ) and Sowmya.

Team Editing Team Editing

Mahesh – A professional editor, who understands my way of writing, my ideas and thoughts and has been avid reader of my blog for years together, so I can easily relate with him and take his honest and professional opinion about the book.

Team - Editing Team – Editing

Nandhitha – A dynamic and young professional editor, who already has edited few books and is on the verge of becoming an author herself. She understands my target audience i.e young and serious readers, quite well and knows what will make it better for the genre.

Team Editing Team Editing

Secondly, Sowmya Swaminathan has agreed to help me with beta reading of the book, in terms of content editing. I am highly obliged for her support in this process.

I am very grateful to have them in our team to create a good product for young, aware and serious readers of fiction.
