Releasing Friday - Clan Companions: Matthew - Pre-Order Available Now

Crisis

Avir had seen Matt in the throes of what he’d believed to be a full-blown panic. He realized he’d only had a hint of the terror that existed in his would-be companion’s head when he entered the room where they were holding Matt and endeavoring to calm him.

The young man shrieked words in snatches and shoved a couple of spaceport medical technicians who were attempting to clean blood off his cheeks. Two harried security officers were alternately struggling to prevent him from hitting the techs and clawing at his face. The blood had come from Matt’s fingernails.

“If you’d let us use the stasis field—”

“You saw how he reacted when he saw it. Don’t worry about us; stop him from hurting himself.” A medic noted Clan Avir’s entrance. “Is he yours? What the hell is wrong with him? What the fuck did you do to make him this way?”

On one hand, Avir appreciated the protective attitude, which came from medics and guards alike. They stared at his clan in undisguised fury, blaming them for Matt’s condition.

Guilt filled his gut. It was their fault. They shouldn’t have left Matt alone.

Kom had no patience for explanations when Matt was screaming and crying and trying to squirm free of the men surrounding him so he could hide under the nearby bench. The Nobek barreled straight to the hysterical human and picked him up.

“Mattie! What happened, little man? Talk to me!”

His past demons have returned, and only a Kalquorian clan can save him.

Matthew Larsen should be happy. Reunited with the Nobek he fell in love with years ago, welcomed into a clan determined to give him a better life, he has everything he never imagined possible. However, he’s haunted by the hellish past and certainty it will reclaim him.

Nobek Kom spent years searching for Matt. Their reunion and his clanmates’ acceptance of the troubled Earther seemed to be all that stood in the way of the perfect future. His Earther love isn’t so easily rescued, however. Even a warrior can’t protect someone against his nightmares.

Dramok Avir and Imdiko Masok are devoted to the beautiful Earther Kom brought home. Loving such a gentle soul isn’t a problem. Saving him from monsters, real and imagined, is another matter when Matt’s worst fears come true and the terrors of the past rise once again to drag him into the abyss.

Missing companion

Kom stared at the shattered ruin of a com unit on the music room’s floor. His gaze went to the Martin, propped against the recording stand. Not on the hanger. Not slung on Matt himself.

“Matt?”

He searched the home first, though the silence told him no one was there. He cursed the seconds as they ticked by, certain every one took Matt farther, to where Kom might not find him again. He searched, because there might be the slightest chance Matt was still there and he’d gone into hiding close enough where Kom could get him through whatever hell the nightmare had sent him to this time.

As soon as he’d conducted a thorough search, he raced from the apartment, praying out loud to the ancestors he wasn’t too late. On a hunch, he stopped by the shuttle service and asked the dispatcher if he’d seen Matt.

He had.

Kom bolted to his personal vessel, shouting at Avir when the Dramok answered his com. “Something set Matt off. He’s gone to the spaceport. He’s making a run for it.”

Releasing Next Friday - Clan Companions: Matthew

Discovered

There were kisses and demands he com the clan if he needed anything at all. He reassured them and saw them to the door.

He stood in the greeting room for a few seconds after they’d left. He felt their warmth and caring after they’d gone, wrapping around him like a blanket on a chilly night. He couldn’t understand how he’d gotten so lucky. He basked in it, a smile sitting comfortably on his lips.

“I love you guys,” he whispered to the closed door. Maybe it was a bit soon to feel so intensely for Avir and Masok, but the sentiment seemed real.

His heart full, he went to his suite.

The recording setup had more bells and whistles than Matt had dealt with in the past, but it was also far more intuitive than his classroom studio’s version had been. He was able to grasp most of the basics fairly quickly and had already laid down a couple of tracks to his new song in less than an hour. He was giddy despite the mistakes he heard on the playback. Even full of errors, everything sounded amazing.

He was exploring a riff on the Martin he thought might work better than what he’d previously written, when his com went off. He emerged from his fog and set the guitar down carefully. He grabbed the com off the recording deck and eyed the unfamiliar frequency displayed.

“Hello?”

“Matt? Is that you?”

His stomach plunged. No.

They'd found him.

Clan Companions: Matthew Releases in One Week (Pre-Order Available Now)

The moment he'd been waiting for

Masok ended the kiss and nibbled his lower lip. “Are you all right?”

“Perfect.” Matt’s voice emerged as a sob as eagerness grew. “Don’t stop.”

“We won’t.” The Imdiko’s breath mingled with his, his gaze intent on Matt. “You’re so beautiful when your face is full of desire.”

He shifted, giving them both room to look at what was happening. Avir’s dark head slowly rose and fell over Matt’s groin, his deliciously raspy tongue abrading enthralled flesh as he sucked. Looming high above was Kom, his hands on Matt’s inner thighs holding him spread as he inched in and drew nearly out, then pushed in a little further. He stared at their joining, wearing the lustful stare Matt found so exciting.

“I can’t wait to be inside you too,” Masok whispered. “I’ve dreamed of it since Kom showed me your picture seven months ago. Will you let me love you?”

“Yes.” Matt hoped the Imdiko would fuck him right after Kom. Maybe Avir would desire him too. He wanted them all, in every way possible. “Can I taste you now?”

“Oh, you sweet, beauty. Are you sure?”

“Please, Masok.”

WIP Wednesday - Clan Companions: Matthew

An accidental spy

His route took him past the sleeping room. Since that was nearly all they did in there, he hadn’t considered checking it. He wandered by the open door and heard noises inside.

Matt stopped and stared. The clan was in the room. On the huge sleeping mat. Having sex.

Avir sat at the head of the mat, his back against the headboard. His legs were spread wide. Masok crouched between them, his head moving up and down, back and forth between Avir’s engorged cocks. The Dramok watched, his lips wet as his clanmate eagerly fellated him.

Kom knelt behind Masok, feeding the Imdiko’s ass his thick length. Kom’s hands held the other man’s cheeks apart, watching intently as his primary disappeared and reappeared.

Matt gaped at the scene of three muscled, gorgeous males fucking. Sighs and moans filled the air, joined by sounds of wet movement and flesh meeting flesh.

Heated excitement filled his cock. He’d had sexual intercourse during high school and the few months he’d attended college. Thrilling discovery had been undertaken in the form of anxious, inexperienced fumblings. A few months ago, on the transport, he’d spotted a Kalquorian man and Earther woman in what had apparently been an impromptu encounter in a ship’s kitchen. But this, a clan of three men who’d been together for decades, was a lesson in practiced intimacy. They were aroused and eager, but there was a sense of comfort and familiarity. No hesitation, no timidity, no confusion. It was beautiful, almost choreographed perfection, and Matt ached because he had no such experience.

Kom tossed his hair aside, and as he did, his face turned in Matt’s direction. Their gazes met.

Matt retreated. He fled to his suite. He’d been caught spying on a private moment, and shame burned his face…but he was thrilled at what he’d witnessed. He wished Kom hadn’t noticed him, that he’d been able to watch those amazing bodies make love to the end.

WIP Wednesday - Clan Companions: Matthew - Pre-Order Now

A companion in crisis

Blue eyes ran over tears. “I was certain he’d come for us when we were in your office. I swear, I saw his shadow over your shoulder, Avir. He was there. My mind said it made no sense, but I saw him, and his hands were covered in blood. He said he’d kill you.”

Hallucinations. Avir’s blood ran cold. Why hadn’t he listened to Kom? Why had he allowed what he wanted for Matt and his clan to discount his Nobek’s warnings? Kom tended to be dramatic and he often exaggerated, but Avir should have paid attention.

“We’ll see what the psychiatrist says, okay? You’ll talk to him tomorrow; I got you an emergency appointment. He’ll give us his recommendations, and we’ll discuss them together.”

“You don’t want to get rid of me? After what I did?”

Avir’s stomach churned at the despair in his expression and voice. “Hell, no. I want to fix this for you. I want you to be happy and stay here forever.”

“Until it happens again. Until it keeps happening. I can’t stop it.”

“We’ll find a way, Mattie. I promise. Whatever it takes.”

Old demons return in full force

“Do you think I’d let them hurt you? Or anyone in my clan? Who’s bigger, Matt? Who’s badder than any monster you’ve ever seen?” Kom demanded

Calm began to flicker in those blue eyes. “You.”

“Damned straight. Every day of the week, I’m the meanest motherfucker in existence. Nobody touches you, Avir, or Masok, because I’ll twist their necks until their skulls pop off. Do you hear me?”

“Yes.”

“Say it.”

“You won’t let anyone hurt us.”

“You just said the greatest truth in the galaxy. You’ll never speak a more honest sentence in your life.”

“Okay.” The tears had tapered off and reason had returned to his expression, but something in Matt’s voice sounded broken. Masok’s heart bled agony to hear it.

“I’ll help you up now. We’ll go in the restroom over there, you’ll wash your face, and we’ll go home. Got it?”

“Yeah.” His gaze rolled to take in Avir and Masok, and his lower lip trembled. “I’m sorry.”

“You did nothing wrong, Mattie.” Masok poured sincerity in his tone. Avir echoed the statement.

“We’ll talk about it at home.” Kom lifted him to his feet and kept him steady when his balance wavered. Anguish had settled over his strong features like an old acquaintance.

An unpleasant encounter at the clothing designer's shop

The door opened, admitting a pair of well-dressed Kalquorian men. They nodded pleasantly to Karan but froze when they saw Matt.

Across the room, Ileg turned from a soft blue fabric hanging he was discussing with Masok. “Ah, welcome back. I’ll be right with you—”

“You’re making clothes for humans now, Ileg?” The Dramok, whose name Matt had already forgotten, continued to stare at him. It wasn’t a nice stare. He and his companion glowered, as if they’d sighted an unpleasant bug.

“I am. I have a number of Earther clients.” Ileg’s voice had a chill in it.

Masok was at Matt’s side in an instant, his gaze fierce. “If you have an issue with my companion, Dramok, we can discuss it outside.”

The stranger gave Matt another scathing glare. “There’s nothing to discuss when it comes to parasites who siphon our resources. My clanmate and I will take our business elsewhere.”

They departed before anyone could reply. Before it shut, Matt heard the Imdiko mutter, obviously for his benefit since he spoke in English, “The infestation is everywhere.”

“I’m so very sorry about their rudeness.” Ileg and Karam converged on Matt and Masok. “Rank doesn’t indicate good breeding far too often these days. Matt, I’ll design you such beautiful clothes to apologize for their rudeness. An extra outfit, something special, at no cost.”

“You had nothing to do with it, Ileg.” Masok visibly struggled to contain his anger. “Fortunately, their kind is in the minority.”

“Fortunately,” Ileg echoed. “Their clan won’t be welcome in my shop again, Karam.”

“Absolutely, sir.” The assistant managed a tight smile for Matt. “It was delightful to meet you, and I apologize you had to encounter such ugliness in Ileg’s studio. At your next visit, I’ll be sure we have extra special refreshments for you to enjoy.”

Much of what was said drifted around Matt’s head. He kept seeing those men staring at him in an all-too-familiar disgust. Theirs had been expressions of loathing that often showed up in his nightmares.

He maintained enough sense to mumble a few pleasantries before Masok ushered him out of the shop.

“Assholes. Gurluks!” the Imdiko swore in English and Kalquorian once the door shut behind them. “I wish he had accepted my invitation to step outside. I’m no Kom, but I’ve been known to put a bastard or two in their place when the occasion called for it. Don’t worry about it, Matt. They’re not worth the clothes you’re wearing.”

His arm circled Matt’s shoulders. The faces of the hateful Dramok and Imdiko had morphed into others in his mind’s eye, and he jerked from Masok’s embrace with a cry, shoving him away.

“Don’t touch me!”

WIP Wednesday - Clan Companions: Matthew

A bid for comfort veers to other things

It was late when Matt had the opportunity to speak to Kom alone. The Nobek was in the kitchen, rooting in what Kalquorians called a cooling unit, a refrigerator in Matt’s vernacular.

Matt wasn’t sure why he was shy to speak his request in Avir’s and Masok’s hearing. They knew he needed help sleeping, and he was supposed to use medication every few nights. Nonetheless, he cringed at the thought.

“Hey. I was wondering if I can take a sedative tonight.” He kept his tone light, pretending it was no big deal. It shouldn’t have been, but he couldn’t shake the sense he was weak for having to rely on medication.

“Yeah, it’s been a couple nights. Shit, we need to get you more, don’t we? How much do you have left?” Kom closed the unit’s door, the roasted haunch of some animal clutched in his fist. He looked barbaric, and Matt’s cock stirred. Any hint of Kom being feral excited him.

He cleared his throat. “Plenty. A month’s worth.”

“Good. Talking about parents got to you?”

“I’m fine, but the reminder of him tends to make the nightmares worse.”

“My offer to go to Mercy Colony and put him out of your misery still stands.” There was no sign of humor from Kom. Matt half-believed he’d indeed snap his father’s neck if the opportunity arose.

His thoughts were heavy so close to bedtime, aided by a sedative or not. “You’re sexy in beast mode, you know.”

“Am I?” The sudden heat in Kom’s eyes woke arousal despite the conversation they’d been having. So much so, that when the Nobek’s hand cupped Matt’s crotch, he found him semi-hard.

Kom returned the roast meat to the fridge, rubbing the squirming human the whole while. Matt’s gaze skipped to the doorway leading to the corridor. “Stop.”

“Your monster isn’t here, pretty man. Avir and Masok are, though. Maybe they’ll come in to find me snacking on sweet Earther cock.” Kom pulled open the crotch of Matt’s pants and reached in for him.

“Don’t.” Matt couldn’t shut off the protests despite there being nothing to be afraid of.

“I will, and you can’t stop me. Fight me, if it’ll help you cope with those fears. It excites me anyway. Make me work for it, but you’ll come for me, little man. You always do.”

Edits are done, and formatting has commenced! I hope to have pre-order information for you next week. Release date: February 10, 2023.

WIP Wednesday - Clan Companions: Matthew

A peek into Kom's childhood

Matt snickered at Kom’s obvious humiliation. He couldn’t resist teasing the scarred warrior. “Poor widdle guy. Mommy and daddies won’t let him be a big man who’s all grown up.”

Kom narrowed his eyes at him and softly growled.

“The doting parents,” Avir chuckled. “Kom was accident-prone as a child. I’m betting it’s the reason they behave the way they do.”

“Were you?” Matt knelt on the lounger next to Kom, who’d sprawled as if he’d been wrecked there.

“I believed in taking every opportunity life offered to explore and try stuff out. Safety was never a concern.”

“That’s how he got my attention.” Avir grinned at Kom. “I was seventeen, I think, when my parents gave a party for local business executives to forge professional relationships. The event was on the beach. I saw this wild Nobek boy running everywhere, one or two of his parents constantly giving chase. He climbed dunes and rocks, ran into the surf and swam for open ocean, crawled under the caterers’ tables, and dug holes several guests stepped in. A couple fell. You were nonstop, my Nobek.”

“I was only twelve,” Kom chuckled. “It was my last home visit prior to puberty, when I became too temperamental to leave training camp until the hormones calmed down.”

“I’d never noticed anyone so full of life and determination to have fun,” Avir told Matt. “You wouldn’t expect a kid in his teens to be vetting eventual clanmates. I was determined to learn what sort of man Kom would grow up to be after I saw him carrying on. I kept a close watch on him as my potential Nobek as he got older.”
