BORN INTO DESTINY by Shelly Morgan
Forsaken Sinners MC Series, #2.5
Coming April 5th from Limitless Publishing!
════ SYNOPSIS ════
An uncertain future is all Dani DeChenne ever expected—and she was right.
A woman usually has a sixth sense about being pregnant. But a tattoo artist who never intended on being a mother—not so much. Instead, she passes out at the gym, and her boyfriend, Zane Hendricks, is the first to find out while she is still unconscious.
To say Zane is over the moon would be an understatement. But Dani’s lonely childhood with an absent mother makes her afraid of becoming a parent herself. What if she sucks at it and her child ends up hating her?
With every fear, there’s hope for a brighter future.
Once Dani gets over the shock, her heart is set on the family she and Zane will build together. But the bliss is short-lived as her pregnancy progresses and Zane’s duties keep him away. Depression sets in, and Dani feels more alone than ever.
It isn’t until an old high school friend drifts into town that Dani has someone to talk to. Jax Reynolds is there on business, looking for a permanent job in security. When Zane catches wind of some guy hanging around his pregnant girlfriend, hospitality flies out the window. But by some miracle, the three become good friends, and Dani finally has the stability she always wanted.
Or so she thought.
When tragedy strikes, every second makes the difference between a bright future or a disastrous fate. And beyond the immediate danger threatening to ruin Dani and Zane’s lives, an even more treacherous secret might be the one thing that can destroy it all forever.

════ MEET AUTHOR SHELLY MORGAN ════
I grew up in a small town in Iowa. I have 2 older sisters and amazing parents. Growing up, I was always a daddy’s girl, hanging out with him in the garage, fishing, and building stuff. I loved to play softball and swimming, but reading, telling stories, and writing were my passion, even at a young age. I took a break from writing for a while, but you could always find me with a book in my hand.
I have three children – two boys and a girl. They are my whole world. Even when I’m having the worst day ever, they brighten up my day and make me smile.
A few years ago, there was this story that would always play out in my head and no matter how many times I went through it, from beginning to end, it would never fade. So I decided to put it on paper. I didn’t plan on publishing it, but when it was almost done, a friend asked to read it. She said it was a story that needed to be shared. And that’s what started my writing career.
I love all genres of books, and even though I started with writing MC Romance, I have a whole book of ideas, so you can expect more from me than just MC, though romance is in my blood.
Even though I currently work two jobs, my ultimate dream is to become a full time author. I want to be able to spend my days filling pages with stories. I want to be the reason people find a reason to smile or laugh from lines on a page. Reading a book allows me to live in someone else’s shoes, even if only for a few minutes. It’s a way to leave my life and troubles behind and I want to be help others do that as well.

GUEST POST: Writing Sex (by Layla Frost)
There are a few common misconceptions about smutty romance authors. Like that we’re all pervs and sex craved maniacs…
Okay, well, that part is probably pretty true.
But there are a few myths about writing sex that I’d like to debunk.
Myth 1: We wanna chat with random dudes on Facebook about sex
Truth: Imagine being an author, trying to catch up on Facebook. You see you have a new message, and get excited, thinking it’s a fan message(which are the BEST!). BAM! Dick pic. And not even a very impressive one…
First of all, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say sending a chick an unsolicited dick pic is never going to work. Ever. Let’s stop that from being a thing. But sending a random author a dick pic? That’s a good way to end up in a story, and not in a flattering way.
We write sex, true. That doesn’t mean we want to talk to random men about it. This brings me to my next myth…
Myth 2: Writing about sex gets us hot and bothered 24/7
Truth: I can’t speak for everyone with this, of course. But writing about sex is not the same as reading someone else’s scene.
If I read a book and the scenes are hot, that’s one thing. When I read my own finished work, though, I tend to dwell on what I’d change. And when I’m writing? Pppffff. Hot and sexy thoughts aren’t running through my mind. Instead, there are a lot of logistics I need to focus on.
How many hands did I just write? Wait, can she bend like that? Did I forget to have her take her panties off? Where are his arms? Can they just watch Daily Show and go to bed? How plausible is it that they’d have Cirque Du Soleil ribbons hanging from the ceiling? Why isn’t there a math equation to know if the height difference will change the logistics? Like ‘Height – Height x Dick Length= Angle’.
I also have to be careful not to just write the actions and mechanics of sex.
There has to be heat. Emotion.
I like to add some playful humor between the characters before the intensity takes over. Dirty talk is also a big plus.
But it all has to be real.
Even before we get to the down and dirty, the buildup of tension takes chapters and chapters to write. And, once again, I have to pick my words carefully. If I don’t choose the phrasing and timing of the dialogue just right, it’s easy for the dirty talk to sound like a phone sex line transcript.
So sexy, right? Excuse me while I fling my panties across the room.
All of that takes time. Effort. Uhhh, and let’s just be honest… Some borderline obsessing.
And I definitely look like I’ve spent hours in front of a computer.
Myth 3: We’re dressed like naughty sex kitten librarians while we write
Truth: BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Granted, I do wear glasses, but out of necessity, not fantasy.
It’s not like the movies, where I’ll take them off and pull out the one bobby pin that’s magically holding up a tumble of snarl free hair. Taking off my glasses means I’ll look shifty and squinty. And if I pull my hair out of the messy bun, I’m about 99% sure Cheetos will fall out.
And, look, while I’m being honest here… I’m pretty sure this Spongebob t-shirt I’m wearing is in danger of disintegrating off of me because I’ve worn it for a week couple days. And the Jack Skellington PJ pants? Comfy as they are, they’re hardly the height of sexy.
Actually, that gif brings up a valid comparison. Most romance authors are like Liz Lemon.
We’re sometimes frustrated.
Writing is usually accompanied by eating what’s convenient, which is junk food free range tofu.
Seriously, we can get really, really frustrated.
But when everything clicks together and the scene flows, it’s incredibly rewarding!
And it’s something to be celebrated
Myth 4: Romance authors aren’t real authors
Truth: This one throws me. Not real? Do people think I’m invisible? Does this mean I can finally walk around without pants on? Because last time I tried, they told me I was drunk and I wasn’t allowed back at Target.
Write suspense? Author. Biographies? Author. Mystery? Doesn’t take a detective with a magnifying glass to see you’re an author. Short stories, poems, porn with a plot? Author!
And don’t let anyone make you feel otherwise.

GUEST POST: Pinterest – A Writer’s Tool (by Michelle Jo Quinn)
I’m a visual person. What does that mean? I like to look at things, especially when I’m writing. Years ago, during my writing hiatus, I discovered Pinterest and spent a ridiculous amount of time on it. Like, “Whoops, I forgot to make dinner because I was pinning recipes on Pinterest.” Eventually, I finally admitted that I was addicted to it and stopped cold turkey. Yes, it can be done.
Fast forward to 2014 when I began writing again and wanted a visual inspiration for a character. Hello, Pinterest, my old friend! But this time, I had to be wiser with how I spent the hours online, or it would eat up time dedicated to writing. This is how I became friends with Pinterest and used it to help my writing improve. Here’s what I learned this flexible writing tool could offer writers:
Storyboard – Characters, Plots, Settings
If you’re anything like me, you like to research the tiniest of details:
What does this hot guy’s smirk look like compared to this other hot guy? Would he pair well with this heroine? What clothes would one find in my everything-vintage-loving heroine? What tattoo would this bad boy rock star have on his right biceps?
I’ve never been to Bar Harbour, Maine, what kind of houses will I find there?
If character A punches character B right on the kisser, what would it look like two days later?
Yes, all are searchable on Pinterest.
Marketing – Branding, Promoting, Blog Posts, Teasers, Cover Reveals
Create boards of your fancy logo. Post teasers with alluring images. Proudly display your sexy new book cover. If you’re a blogger, you can link your post to Pinterest, increasing your post clicks and blog traffic, or make your images “Pinnable”. You can also use your author headshot and add a short bio on your Pinterest profile to introduce yourself to (new) readers/followers.
Find Writing Tips – Writing Prompts, Publishing, Marketing, Writing Tips and Tricks
Writing a Suspense? Cozy Mystery? Horror? You’ll find a slew of Writing Boards dedicated to each of these genres.
Are you stuck with the dreaded Writing Block? Find ways to battle this, or pick one of the thousands of writing prompts that appear on Pinterest.
Want an Infographic on How Publishing Works? How to Market your Books on Twitter or Facebook? Pinners have spent hours putting it all together for you.
How to write a sex scene? Also on Pinterest!
Pinterest also has a good amount of Inspiring and Motivating Quotes for your everyday needs.
Reader Engagement
This is another way to market your books, by getting your readers involved through this social platform. Have contests inviting readers and Facebook followers to Pin images on your boards. Or allow them to access your Storyboard and let them comment if they agree with your choices or not. You can also comment on your reader’s libraries, pins and boards, extending that relationship with your fans.
Business – Analytics with business profile, knowing your audience
Analytics, which show you how many people pinned from your website, repinned your pins, and other data can help you decide how to best use Pinterest to achieve your goals. This will also help you with market research, by determining who your target audience/demographic is–if it’s not already clear–information that’s useful when posting Facebook/Twitter Ads or Boosts.
Connect with other Writers
Follow other writers on Pinterest. Start a Book Recommendations Board. Share ideas for DIY book items or swag designs. I’ve also found DIY fails best sellers! It makes you as a writer seem more human than an unknown entity to other writers and readers.

The Dubious Joys of Writing
Writing is hard.
No, seriously. It is. In fact, I think it’s probably the hardest thing I’ll ever do. Well, outside of attempting to maintain some semblance of sanity while helping raise five kids. That’s pretty damn difficult, believe it or not.
But back to the original topic. Writing is an immense feat. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve fought the urge to just toss a grenade onto a chapter and be done with it. Why?
Because writing is hard!
It is almost impossible to come up with an original idea. Correction, let’s face it; it is impossible to come up with an original idea. Everything has already been written in one form or another. Lord knows this is true for the motorcycle club, billionaire and stepbrother categories!
Also, we won’t talk about how hard it is to read and not add aspects of those novels into your own work. You’re stuck on your chapter, you read a book and bam! – Inspiration! But wait…oh no. How much is your idea and how much did you just take from another author’s hard work. It’s a conundrum that can leave you crippled in plagiarism fear, rocking in a corner somewhere sucking your thumb.
Then there’s my personal favorite. Yes, it’s the dreaded plot bunny rearing its ugly head! You know the one; you’re in the middle of writing one thing and a completely different story comes to you. It’s a small miracle any story ever gets completed.
Now let’s talk about every author’s greatest fear. You guessed it; Writer’s Block. (cue the dramatic music) Nothing is worse than sitting down to write and suddenly you have no idea what a word is, let alone put it down on paper.
All thoughts and ideas just *poof!* disappear. You then proceed to sit there and stare at that blank page that mocks you. And despite how hard you may battle it, the struggle is real. Writer’s block sucks. Anyone who says it doesn’t exist has obviously never spent hours endeavoring to make some sort of sentence come together when the creative process has abandoned you to go play somewhere that has drinks with little umbrellas and a sexy cabana boy to rub lotion on it as it suntans.
Yeah, it’s that bad. It’s not pretty, and I’ve seen some fairly brutal episodes take place with it. It’s enough to make you want to run and hide. Or possibly crawl under a rock, quietly sob and swear that you’re never going to write again.
I never said that it easy to watch.
Eventually all of this will resolve itself and you complete your masterpiece! The next Great American Novel has been created. At least, that’s what it feels like.
But you’re not done!
No, not done by a long shot. Nope. You still have to edit that book you just sweat over. Ah yes, that great moment where you take your baby, that amazing masterpiece, and stare at it. It’s time to remove words, hack them out from existence. Those same words you just slaved and fought for must now go away. The problem here is, as a writer, to you every word is golden nugget of pure genius. Why would you want to destroy such beauty?
It sucks. Each syllable that you toss out is like stabbing yourself in the chest. You’ll spend hours staring at the screen, picking through every word trying to determine what can go and what can stay.
How can things be reworded? How does one change that sentence to make it shorter and still pack a punch? Why did I ever think that paragraph actually sounded okay when I originally wrote it? These are the thoughts racing through your mind as you painstakingly edit your novel.
After going though all of this, the heartache, the headaches, tears, frustration…you now have an actual, real novel! Finally done, complete and edited to perfection, it is ready to go to the masses to be enjoyed. Such an accomplishment at that point. And then you remember a small detail that you had forgotten: you now have to face critiques and reviews. Oh, yay.
Yes, writing is hard!

BONUS: Pivotal Moments Outtake Scene
“Aislinn Margaret, if you don’t sit down right this second, I will tie you down and force feed you Valium!”
I shot my mother a dirty look from where I paced back and forth. She was finishing up her time under the hair dryer from getting highlights and watched me with an annoyed look. I huffed out a sigh and faced her fully. “I’m sorry! It’s just that Teagan will be here soon and…” I trailed off with a shrug.
“And you’re anxious to see him,” she finished for me with a smile. “I get it, you know. I wasn’t always in my forties with two kids.” She shot me a sly look as she the lady came and turned off the dryer and she stood from her seat. “I’d be anxious to see someone like Teeg, too,” she stated with a wink.
My mouth fell open in surprise. I quickly recovered myself and let out a shocked laugh. “Mother!”
“What?” She gave me an innocent look. “Teeg’s an attractive guy, sweetheart. However, I don’t plan on taking a trip to Cougarville anytime soon.” She paused for a moment, looked like she was about to say something and then shook her head with a blush.
I was curious and raised an eyebrow in a silent question. I became more so when her blush deepened. What the hell..?
“Nothing!” she responded with more force than necessary. She gestured for me to follow her to the next room to get our manicures. I trailed along behind her, bemused.
I sat in the seat at the station beside hers and glanced her way as I gave my hand to the girl on the other side. “What’s going on, Mom? You’re acting weird.”
“It’s nothing,” she dismissed. “Anyway, are you excited about tonight?” The tone of her voice spoke volumes.
“Nice deflection,” I grumbled. I straightened up and laughed at her. “I’m impressed.” She shrugged and gave me an expectant look.
“I’m excited, actually,” I admitted. But I’m also nervous.”
“Nervous? About what?” She shot me a concerned look.
“Because it’s Prom Night! Yeesh.” I frowned. “You know how it is.”
Mom nodded. “Yes, I know exactly how it is.” She paused and shifted in her seat as she cleared her throat. The odd look on her face caught my attention.
“Hey,” I tried again. “Seriously, are you okay?” The worry was starting to creep up on me. “You’re really acting weird.”
She sighed deeply as her head dropped back. She sat there for a moment, staring at the ceiling, before bringing it back up with a grunt. “I so don’t want to do this right now.” She met my eyes and gave me a tight smile. “But we need to talk.”
I didn’t even try to hold in the groan. Those were never good words to hear. “Really? Right now?” The knowledge that there was whining involved just then had no bearing on my desire to get out of whatever lecture was coming.
“Yes, right now,” she stated firmly. “This is important before you and Teagan leave this evening.”
“Ugh! Mom, you have nothing to worry about,” I assured her.
She snorted and looked down at where the woman was working on her nails. “I wish that were true, sweetheart.” She smirked before she looked at me. “Unfortunately, I know all about the things that happen at prom night.” The lady working on her nails giggled, causing Mom to laugh. She then sobered and continued on. “The parties, the alcohol…”
I unsuccessfully hid my laughter. Taking a deep breath, I glanced at her and started to laugh again. “Are you serious right now?” I gasped out. “I mean, do you even know Teagan?” I made an effort to get myself under control before I continued. “Even if I wanted to, which I don’t, there’s no way he’d let me drink or do something stupid!” I turned to the girl who was waiting patiently to work on my nails. I flashed an apologetic smile, then muttered, “Believe me, I won’t be doing anything like that.”
Mom fidgeted in her seat then mumbled something. I frowned and look over at her. “What? I didn’t catch that.”
She squeezed her eyes shut before they snapped open and she squared her shoulders. “I said, those aren’t the only things that can happen at prom night.”
That brought me up short. I gave her my attention, lost at what she was talking about. “Mom, I have no clue what you’re talking about,” I confessed. “You’ve lost me.”
“Can you answer something honestly for me? I won’t get upset, I promise.” She faced me with an earnest expression. I had a feeling of trepidation creep over me, but nodded anyway.
“Okay,” she began as she took a deep breath. “Are you and Teeg being… ‘safe’?”
Safe? What the hell did that mean? Teagan always kept me safe! I frowned, baffled. “Yeah! Of course, always.” I made a face and asked, “Why would you even ask me that? You know how Teagan is.”
Mom seemed to slump in relief. “Thank God! I was so worried.”
A niggling thought started to form in the back of my mind. I dismissed it, however. There was no way… No. Just not happening.
“We should still discuss it, though,” she continued. “And we really shouldn’t put it off anymore.” She shook her head with a sigh. “I wish I’d thought of it before today. I wouldn’t worry so much about tonight.” She smiled tightly. “I’m really impressed with how well you’re handling this, honey. Thank you for being so mature about it.”
That thought started to bloom larger in my mind and I struggled with it. She was absolutely not talking about what I thought she was. Was she?
“Mom,” I began, “what exactly are we talking about here?” I asked the question slowly as I prayed for a different answer than the one I suspected was going to come.
With dawning horror, I watched as my mother shifted in her seat, obviously uncomfortable. She opened her mouth to say something but clamped it tight instead. Her lips thinned into a straight line and she gazed off into nothing before she heaved a breath and straightened up again. She shot me a look that told me how awkward she felt at that moment. “I’m talking about being protected, Aislinn.” She cleared her throat. “You know, so nothing unexpected will happen.” She glanced before she muttered, “You’re too young for something like that.”
My jaw dropped and eyes widened as the full meaning behind her words registered. Oh no! – This was so not happening to me right now. I glanced at the girl doing my nails and saw that while she was concentrating on my hand, an amused smile was on her lips. My entire face heated up.
“Mom!” I cried. “Please! Oh my God, no!” If I could have, I would have gladly sank under the table and into the floor. “Jesus! Really?”
“Look, this isn’t easy for me, all right?” she snapped. “Cut me a little slack.”
I attempted to gather myself together from my sea of humiliation. “I need to be sure we’re on the same page here. Are you talking about…” I trailed off, unable to complete the question.
She huffed out an annoyed breath. “Birth control! Yes.”
“Mother!”
“What?”
“Seriously?”
“Yes.”
“Oh my God! No. There’s – Just stop!”
“I refuse to be a grandmother at forty-three,” she stated firmly. “So, I think it’s best we address the issue now and get it fixed. For my peace of mind, if nothing else.” She shot me a determined look. At that, it was obvious her mind was made up.
“You do realize that he and I haven’t done anything yet, right?” I informed her.
She shrugged. “Don’t care. It will probably happen eventually. Let’s take care of it now. When we get home, I’ll research some options for you and we can discuss which ones you’d like to go with. I’ll make an appointment for next week.”
I stared at her as I drowned in mortification. This ‘talk’ needed to end, like right now. I cleared my throat and asked, “If I agree to that, can we drop thing? Like as of this moment?”
She studied me for a moment before she gave a jerky nod. “Yes.” She shot me a stern look. “But we will finish this when we get home, Aislinn.”
I was grateful for the reprieve. However, I groaned at the thought of the upcoming discussion. “Fine,” I agreed, grudging.
This was one conversation I would not be sharing with Teagan.
