Why I LOVE Indie Authors/Books

A beautiful post from Ashley over at Peachy Keen Book Reviews!

Peachy Keen Book Reviews

Hello Everyone!
I’m sorry for posting so much lately, I just have so much to say! I am filled with such love for all of you and the indie author/book movement as a whole and I wanted to share with you the reason why.

I am a twenty something college student who was first published in 2013 during my senior year of high school. I continually slaved away at sending query letters to agents, hoping and praying t...

Yangshuo: Guangxi Autonomous Region, China. Thanks for the Memories

Thinking of travelling to China? Check out Andy Smart’s informative blog with awesome photos!

Just Turn Left

I must say I miss working in the smaller towns around China; magical amazing days of initiation into TEFL that will forever stay close to me. The attitude and way of life is completely the opposite to that of say Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu or Shenzhen and yes, it is completely stunning!

Book Review: Fearless by Patricia Hamill

29536034.jpg

Thought Provoking.

Fearless by Patricia Hamill is the story of survival during a zombie apocalypse. It is told through the diary of a young woman who narrates the horrors, the successes, the failures, the laughter and the tears of a group of people as they struggle through their daily lives. Interestingly enough, the main character is never named.

But for the purpose of this review, I will name her ‘Lady’.

‘Lady’ refuses to know the names of those surrounding her. To do so, makes it too pers...

Latest Review from Peachy Keen Book Reviews. Thank you Ashley!

Peachy Keen Book Reviews

Title: Forgotten

Author: Neven Carr

Rating: 5/5

Forgotten is an indie suspense novel by author Neven Carr. The cover of this novel perfectly captures the story as a whole and the synopsis of the book is as follows:

“A young boy is shot and one of the members of an elite gun clan takes his own life. The truth behind what happened lies only in those present, and in the forgotten memories of a seven-year-old...

For the Love of Blog: WordPress Friends Never Leave You

To all the WordPress lovers out there. Thanks Andy!

Just Turn Left

I’ve had a number of revelations recently regarding blogging. After years of struggling to find what it’s all about and being blocked by the Great Firewall at every turn, things have accelerated like Road Runner after downing a super-sized coke in one go. Meep Meep!

Friends & Community

I love people visiting my website. It’s like the landline ringing or someone knocking on your door stopping by for a chat and a cup of tea.
I love visiting other people’s sites. Each place I go to has its own unique feel about it. It’s easy to appreciate the time and love that someone goes into creating their own site; the tinkering and readjusting until its right. I can now understand the time and effort that goes into a single post; the detail.
Blogging allows you to express yourself like no other medium. I have WP ‘Community’ and RSS lists. Together…

Holy Library Lookbook

Wow! Check out these amazing libraries! Thank you Abbie xox

Cafe Book Bean

Let’s celebrate this Holy day with a Holy Lookbook.

Here are some beautiful and inspirational libraries from

Holy locations all over the world.

Admont Abbey (Austria)

Familiar? I think Disney may have been inspired… ;)

Abbey library of Saint Gall (Switzerland)

A stunning and warm library. During a fire in 937, the Abbey was destroyed, but the library remained intact.

Waldsassen Abbey (Bavaria, Germany)

The intricate engraving work engulfing this library takes my breath away.

Westminster Abbey Library (United Kingdom)

The Library and Muniment Room houses the extensive and historic collections of books, manuscripts and archival material

Vorau Abbey Library (Austria)

There is something just absolutely magical about this library.

The Vatican Library (Rome)

Formally established in 1475, (although much older) it is one of the oldest libraries in the world and contains one of the most significant collections of historical texts. It currently has 75,000 codices from throughout history,

Day 42 of 90: Ignorant of the future #ASMSG #IARTG #IAN1 #SupportIndieAuthors #Inspiration

More great inspirational stuff from Riley Amos Westbook!

Riley Amos Westbook

Maybe this will just become a long term thing that I do every day, extended well beyond the ninety day period I originally intended. Who knows where this will lead to? Of course, it also might become something much more sporadic, and just be something that I keep notebooks full of. No one knows what will be.

I don’t know about you, but I like not knowing the future.

I think about how my books are written, where I always know what the end will be. It works, because I’m the God of my world, the one who controls all the chess pieces. If it weren’t for me, they wouldn’t move one single spot on the board, let alone conquer the worlds that they do.

You need to live everyday as if it were the last one on Earth. I don’t mean be stupid. Car surfing, while a fun past…

Book Review: The Queen and the Dagger by Melanie Ansley

queen

A Fantasy Lover’s Delight.

This novella has it all.

A fantasy world so plausibly thought out, so vividly described, I could sense myself actually being there.

Protagonists and antagonists, clearly defined in their roles, where they [although animals] appear human-like in their behaviours, in their personal endeavours and in the way they combat their weaknesses.

A plot that is strong, emotional but succinct enough to move the story along, to the point that I [not a fantasy reader] am compelled to know what happens in the next book.

A must read.

5/5 stars.

Put on your grown-up pants and act like a damn adult.

Another great post (rant, haha!) from Melissa, from over at Paperbacks and Wine.

Paperbacks and Wine

I want to take a minute to get brutally honest with you all. You want to publish your book? Well, you had better put on your grown-up pants and act like a damn adult.

Writing a book is only the first step to becoming a professional author. Yes- if you are writing a book in hopes of publishing, this makes you a professional author. So before you submit your book to a publisher, keep a few things in mind:

When working with others: editors, proofreaders, cover design, book management.. whoever! Keep in mind that you are all in a business relationship. If someone isn’t pulling their weight- discuss it with them like mature, professionals do. Don’t fly off the handle on someone and fire them without so much as a warning. Most places of employment have some sort of warning policy- they don’t just walk into your office and fire…
