The Imposter Lies Within: Silence Your Inner Critic, Tame Your Fear, Unleash Your Badassery by Sheryl Anjanette
A brilliant book that covers the intersection between business and mindset. A unique approach, illustrating the toll unchecked imposter syndrome has on health and performance, with a holistic approach to get past it.
Do you feel like it’s just a matter of time before you’re found out? That you were lucky, or just in the right place at the right time? That you are not as accomplished as others think you are and you’ve been deceiving them all?
You may feel like you’re not good enough. Not worthy of what you have, or not deserving of what you’ve accomplished. There’s a disconnect between your actual accomplishments and how you feel about them. The imposter within is lying. You’re not really an imposter, and it’s not that others think you are either. But the feeling is real. It feels like you may be exposed at any time as a fraud. Ready to meet the liar? This imposter within doesn’t recognize the real you. Your Inner Critic gives voice to the lies that keep you playing small or struggling.
If the idea of letting go of crippling self-doubt, fear and anxiety sounds appealing, this book is for you. Sheryl Anjanette takes you through a powerful journey that is thoughtful, methodical and practical. You will find more than twenty exercises and further resources to get past imposter syndrome and not just through it. You will find the holistic approach and concepts of The Healthy Zone and The Mind Stack as keys to step into a life of inner peace where you adapt easily to change, handle new opportunities with confidence and feel energized by your accomplishments.
This idea that you can live imposter-free is a refreshing perspective for those who have felt they just needed to live with these uncomfortable internalized emotions.

The book is a journey in itself, as Nancy lays out time-tested tools to identify, face, and overcome shadow beliefs from childhood that hold us back, get free of the limits of our comfort zone, come to terms with and cultivate fear as a driving force for change, and discover the courage we already have to take bold steps into the future. She teaches how to be more present, use our intuition, and get out from under the daily restrictions of autopilot. She reveals strategies to stay the course, maintain low attachment to outcome, receive feedback, stay disciplined and responsible to ourselves, and learn what it means to practice acceptance and surrender.
Ms. Pickard is testimony to her proven methods. She reinvented herself as a master life coach in her second half and at the age of 61, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, experiences and achievements that recalibrated her way of being and became her vision for a bigger life.
Not everyone must climb a mountain to live larger. As the book well shows, each of our versions of a bigger life can be anything that brings elation, accomplishment, fulfillment, and connection with the spirit of who we are. Bigger Better Braver provides the pathway to uncover our personal vision of what living bigger means and opens the door for a major life change.

Beacons of Leadership with Chris Voss Podcast – Lincoln and the Fight for Peace by John Avlon
The Chris Voss Show Podcast – Lincoln and the Fight for Peace by John Avlon
A groundbreaking, revelatory history of Abraham Lincoln’s plan to secure a just and lasting peace after the Civil War—a vision that inspired future presidents as well as the world’s most famous peacemakers, including Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, and Martin Luther King, Jr. It is a story of war and peace, race and reconciliation.
As the tide of the Civil War turned in the spring of 1865, Abraham Lincoln took a dangerous two-week trip to visit the troops on the front lines accompanied by his young son, seeing combat up close, meeting liberated slaves in the ruins of Richmond, and comforting wounded Union and Confederate soldiers.
The power of Lincoln’s personal example in the closing days of the war offers a portrait of a peacemaker. He did not demonize people he disagreed with. He used humor, logic, and scripture to depolarize bitter debates. Balancing moral courage with moderation, Lincoln believed that decency could be the most practical form of politics, but he understood that people were more inclined to listen to reason when greeted from a position of strength. Ulysses S. Grant’s famously generous terms of surrender to General Robert E. Lee at Appomattox that April were a direct expression of the president’s belief that a soft peace should follow a hard war.
While his assassination sent the country careening off course, Lincoln’s vision would be vindicated long after his death, inspiring future generations in their own quests to secure a just and lasting peace. As US General Lucius Clay, architect of the post-WWII German occupation, said when asked what guided his decisions: “I tried to think of the kind of occupation the South would have had if Abraham Lincoln had lived.”
Lincoln and the Fight for Peace reveals how Lincoln’s character informed his commitment to unconditional surrender followed by a magnanimous peace. Even during the Civil War, surrounded by reactionaries and radicals, he refused to back down from his belief that there is more that unites us than divides us. But he also understood that peace needs to be waged with as much intensity as war. Lincoln’s plan to win the peace is his unfinished symphony, but in its existing notes, we can find an anthem that can begin to bridge our divisions today.

The Chris Voss Show Podcast – Jameela Green Ruins Everything by Zarqa Nawaz
Jameela Green Ruins Everything by Zarqa Nawaz
“I think we got off on the wrong foot, with you telling me I had to be killed and then me getting all upset about it. Let’s start again. My name is Jameela, and I’m a writer. What do you do, besides . . . assassinations? Is that a hobby or more of a full-time thing?”
Jameela Green has only one wish: to see her memoir on the New York Times bestseller list. When that doesn’t work out, she decides that her best next step is to make a deal with God, so she heads over to her local mosque. The idealistic new imam, Ibrahim Sultan, is appalled by Jameela’s shallowness but agrees to assist her, on one condition—that she perform a good deed.
Jameela reluctantly accepts his terms, kicking off a series of unfortunate events. The homeless man they try to help gets recruited by a terrorist group, causing federal authorities to become suspicious of Ibrahim. When the imam mysteriously disappears, Jameela is certain that the CIA has captured her new friend for interrogation and possibly torture.
Despite having no talent for this sort of thing, Jameela decides to set off on a one-woman operation to rescue him. Her quest soon lands her at the center of an international plan targeting the leader of the terrorist organization—a scheme that puts Jameela and count-less others, including her hapless husband and clever but disapproving daughter, at risk.
A no-holds-barred satire about the international cost of the American Dream, Jameela Green Ruins Everything is a compulsively readable, darkly comedic, yet unexpectedly touching story of one woman’s search for meaning and connection.

The Chris Voss Show Podcast – The Flag and the Cross: White Christian Nationalism and the Threat to American Democracy by Philip S. Gorski, Samuel L. Perry
The Flag and the Cross: White Christian Nationalism and the Threat to American Democracy by Philip S. Gorski, Samuel L. Perry
A bracing examination of a force that imperils American democracy
Most Americans were shocked by the violence they witnessed at the nation’s Capital on January 6th, 2021. And many were bewildered by the images displayed by the insurrectionists: a wooden cross and wooden gallows; “Jesus saves” and “Don’t Tread on Me;” Christian flags and Confederate Flags; even a
prayer in Jesus’ name after storming the Senate chamber. Where some saw a confusing jumble, Philip S. Gorski and Samuel L. Perry saw a familiar ideology: white Christian nationalism.
In this short primer, Gorski and Perry explain what white Christian nationalism is and is not; when it first emerged and how it has changed; where it’s headed and why it threatens democracy. Tracing the development of this ideology over the course of three centuries―and especially its influence over
the last three decades―they show how, throughout American history, white Christian nationalism has animated the oppression, exclusion, and even extermination of minority groups while securing privilege for white Protestants. It enables white Christian Americans to demand “sacrifice” from others in
the name of religion and nation, while defending their “rights” in the names of “liberty” and “property.”
White Christian nationalism motivates the anti-democratic, authoritarian, and violent impulses on display in our current political moment. The future of American democracy, Gorski and Perry argue, will depend on whether a broad spectrum of Americans―stretching from democratic socialists to classical
liberals―can unite in a popular front to combat the threat to liberal democracy posed by white Christian nationalism.
