Weekend Roundup

It was a quieter weekend, and I’m grateful. Not sure why, but we needed that. Maybe it’s the heat.

Friday, I saw Biker Witch, but it’s hard to get into much trouble these days with most things closed or limited access.

Saturday, I fought with the book…don’t ask :-)

Sunday I was at Home Depot twice because my plants are growing and I keep having to transplant them to bigger pots. I got most of what I needed, then had to go back to get a tomato cage to stake up my plant. FYI, I had no idea what a tomato cage was until I looked around online to learn how to stake up tomato plants :-) Maggie went with me to Home Depot the first time, and was very sad when I didn’t take her the second time (it was getting too hot to have her out). I also made peanut butter chocolate chunk cookies, and I’m trying something different to rewrite this chunk of book. It felt so stagnant and boring, I wanted to change it up. This revision shouldn’t take this long, but my revision-muscles needed to be stretched and challenged to get the kinks out.

So a good weekend, and hopefully I will have lots of butt-in-the-chair time this week.

How was your weekend?

Friday Five

TGIF! Time to share five random things about our week:

Why do characters wake me up at 4am to whine about their problems and annoy me? You know what would be awesome? Wake me up for the solution and you’ll find me all kinds of happy rather than pissed.
We bought some steaks from Costco and tried them. They were pretty good! We buy very little steak anymore because it’s been so disappointing.
I made chipotle rice this week and we both enjoyed it. It’s just white rice with some lime juice and chopped fresh cilantro, but little things make me happy :-)
I got my hair cut and colored, and these days, it’s a total covert operation to do that. California closed hair salons, UNLESS they cut hair outside. Umm, first it was 107 degrees yesterday so…seriously? Plus the logistics of moving everything outside unrealistic.
I’m seeing Biker Witch today. Our big day out is meeting at Target with masks. It’s exciting, LOL!

I’m staying home this weekend and smacking around my revision. Violence is okay in fiction, right? It’s a good thing I love this book! Anyway, that’s my five and now it’s your turn to share yours. Have a great weekend?

Wednesday Question

I’ve got nothing because the day got away from me :-) So I’ll ask this, I’d like to try to make bread (using my new mixer!) have you guys made bread? Any suggestions for good bread that’s manageable for someone who hasn’t made it before?

Happy Wednesday!

P.S. I love bread too! Sometimes, mom gives me little tidbits of bread in my bowl after dinner–if I lay down and follow the rules while she and Wizard-dad are eating.

Weekend Roundup

Yep, there was a weekend :-)

Friday, I saw the doctor of my ankle. Then he brought in his intern and described the mess that is my ankle to her: Arthritis, soft tissue damage, lots of swelling…as I listened, I was kind of impressed at my ability to multitask injuries, LOL! Long story short, he did the shot, and things will improve.

Saturday, we saw Turbo, and had fun as always. I realized when I pulled out a bag of mini M&M’s out of my purse for Turbo that I now am the proud owner of a “Grandma purse” that always has treats in it. Thankfully, Turbo’s parents are very tolerant :-)

Sunday I was in a knock down, drag out battle to fix a scene. I’m close, but haven’t shed enough blood yet to satisfy Justice and Liza. Justice is impatient with me these days, which I gotta say, I don’t blame him! Today I have a couple more boring errands to do then back to the battle!

Friday Five

TGIF!  Okay, here’s my five random things about this week:

So my revisions are slow, and I’ve pulled out my chef’s knife and chop and combine some scenes. There’s no pretty (or easy) way to do this, so I’m diving in and slashing. The plan is to get rid of the boring stuff and kick up the action. Wish me luck, and maybe send Band Aides!
I made Youngest son cookies in my brand new stand mixer that Wizard got me for my birthday. It’s a 5.5 quart Cuisinart with the attachments I need and I’m going to love the mixer!
I made Youngest cookies to test it, and because on my birthday, he couldn’t eat the amazing chocolate cake my daughter-in-law (Special K) made. By the way, he didn’t complain that he couldn’t eat the cake, there was plenty of food he enjoyed. I just like to do it for him because he’s such a good sport.
Today I’m off to the doctor’s to get a long overdue shot in my bad ankle, then run some errands right after a shot in the swollen ugly joint. Hmm…I may not have planned that well, LOL! But in 24 to 48 hours, the shot will kick in and I’ll be good. Plus errands will be done :-)
This weekend, Wizard is helping Oldest with something in his house, which means I get to play with Turbo.

So that’s my five, now I’d love to hear yours! Hope everyone has a great and healthy weekend!

Wednesday Worthy

Okay lets do an old school Wednesday Worthy:

Hunk #1

Hunk #….

“Wait who snuck this pic in? MAGGIE!”

“It wasn’t me, Mom! Honest I was here the whole time!”

Hunk #2

Sorry, I ran out of hunks thanks to a sneaky little dog! So you know the drill, pick your favorite.

Happy Wednesday!

Weekend Roundup

Our weekend was amazing, and I had a great birthday. The kids brought all the food, and there was nothing for me to do except get out of their way (I know that because they told me to get out of the kitchen and go play with Turbo, LOL). I appreciate it all so much. Every single one of them touched my heart with their thoughtfulness; my three sons, my truly wonderful daughter-in-laws, and of course, Wizard. Turbo made it extra special by baking Grandma cookies with his parents help. They sent me videos and it was adorable :-) Plus he was super excited to tell me Happy Birthday Grandma. Too cute.

Anyway, it was a jewel of a weekend in a difficult year and I’m grateful.

Today, I’ll be tackling the revisions once more. No more slacking! I may be dragging a little bit, but that’s what the miracle brew coffee is for!

Friday Five

Jumping right into sharing 5 random things about our week:

I can’t believe it’s August tomorrow!
My revision is not working yet, but my house is clean :-)  I’m not looking for sympathy, I’m confident I will figure it out, but Wizard and I set this week aside to tackle some house projects. I will stress next week.
My hairdresser broke her leg, it’s pretty bad and she’ll be having surgery next week :-(  I’m sure all will go well, but I’m so sorry she’s going through this.
I’m reading Sinful Magic right now. Reading my own book is always painful, I can see so many ways to make the writing better. But I love Dyfyr, the dragon from that book, as much as ever.
Sunday is my birthday and my kids are coming over and bringing food. I appreciate that so much. We are very conscious this may not be the best idea, but my mother’s heart just can’t say no. This virus is here for awhile, so we are coping the best we can.

That’s my quick five things that I’m writing after wearing myself out doing projects today :-) Now it’s your turn to share yours! I hope all of you have a safe and happy weekend.
