Wednesday Worthy

It’s hump day! And here in California, we are getting served the Rainy Edition. Again :-)

But let’s move onto our candidate for today. And let me just say that I don’t care how hot he is, if he’s not bringing me decadent chocolate cake, I’m not interested. I’ve wanted good chocolate cake since last August and been doomed to repeated disappointment :-(  Umm…did I get off topic? Anyway…

…what do you think is he worthy?

Weekend Roundup

Friday we booked our Hawaii trip. I’m shocked we actually did it since we’re financially conservative–or as our kids would say–cheap. I’m not going to announce dates online, but we’re talking spring. Despite tight finances, we are both very excited. Well I was excited, until Wizard mentioned that I need to buy a new swimsuit. :-) And that explains my Monday morning diet plan (don’t worry, I’ll be hungry and over it by noon, or if I see chocolate, whichever comes first).

Saturday, I saved a new draft of my book, and am going back to change the order of things. Can anyone say frustrating???? I’ve known since the first of the year that I should do this, but I kept trying to work around it, and basically spun in circles. But hey, at least I’m back in the fight!

Sunday, Wizard went racing, and I went to hang out with my grandson, Turbo. That kid is walking better and better!

That was my weekend. How was yours?

Friday Five

So…it’s Friday? All week, I’ve been confused on what day it is. Sometimes I do that on one day, but it’s been Every Single Day! So if it’s not Friday, let’s just play along!

I know how to write a book. No really, I do! Or I did…can we forget how to write a book? Never mind, I don’t want to talk about it!
Maggie is clean and pretty! I took her down to get a bath and grooming. She’s not a fan of water or blow driers, but she loves the girls there and likes hanging out with all the daycare dogs there.
We sorted out some health insurance things. Yep, that’s the kind of exciting life we live here in The Lyon Lair, LOLOL!!
Wizard and I are deciding today if we will pull the trigger and book our vacation. It depends on a few factors, like if the flights are still available, and if we can bring ourselves to–gulp–spend the money. Stay tuned! I’m losing so much writing time to this decision! Oh, and believe it or not, Wizard is worrying about leaving Maggie at boarding for a week :-) He doesn’t want her to think we aren’t coming back for her.
This weekend, I’m may be seeing Baby Slayer if all goes well (things are a bit chaotic in the aftermath of the car accident, but they are fine.) Baby Slayer’s mom called him Turbo in a recent video once, and I may steal that name! Or Rocket :-) Otherwise, I’m going to roll up my sleeves and kick some book bootie!

As you can see, I’ve had a quiet week. Busy with a bunch of boring stuff, but nothing noteworthy. How was your week? I really want to know!! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Wednesday Worthy

It’s hump day and you know what to do!

This guy appears to be in a hurry (or he’s running from my book–because it’s a big scary monster that can’t be tamed–Grrr!!)

So what do you think, is he worthy?

Weekend Roundup

The weekend was ok. I spent time on words…I’m right back into my pattern of writing, deleting, cutting, pasting and generally driving myself crazy. No news there, LOL :-)  Saturday we had heavy rains and winds, and Wizard went racing with Middle Son to an indoor track. I was mildly concerned about him driving home because he has to travel four different freeways and I knew there’d be a fair amount of traffic. Turns out, I was concerned about the wrong family member.

They are fine, but CPA Boy, Special K and Baby Slayer were hit and spun out in heavy rain on the freeway Saturday evening, Again they are all okay, and watching out for any delayed problems like whiplash. Thankfully Baby Slayer was in his rear-facing car seat, and just a little scared. I saw him Sunday, and he was happy and playing as usual. Their car, however, is pretty banged up and will go into the dealer today for some bodywork. From what they’ve pieced together, a young man driving a brand new car spun out in the heavy rain, hit them and they did a 360 before both cars came to a stop. Thankfully no other cars hit them after that, although they did back up traffic until the police could get there to safely move the cars out the lanes of traffic. In that kind of rain, and at night, it could have been MUCH worse, so we’re all grateful.

And a little extra fun (NOT), I got an email threat to use my webcam to distribute porn of me if I don’t pay up in Bitcoin. Um…good luck with that. **Delete**  Garbage like this, and all the other craptastic scams run by trolls that need to be squeezed and popped like puss-filled boils, are why I need a glass of wine by the end of the day.

To end on a more cheerful note, here’s me and and Baby Slayer from yesterday. Baby Slayer has a super cool play space that he lurch-walks across, back and forth, like Maggie when she gets the crazy zoomies. It’s pretty funny since he hasn’t quite mastered walking, so he just pitches himself forward and toddle-runs. Somehow it usually works for him. Other times, he faceplants but gets right back up and does it again. In this photo, we’re playing with his dump truck.

That’s my weekend, how was yours?

Friday Five

TGIF! Let’s jump right into five random things about our week:

I’m thinking about all of you in the Extreme Weather Zone. I hope everyone is okay!
Here in So Cal, we have rain, rain and more rain. Maggie is NOT a fan. We’re under “at risk watch” for slides and debris flow, but we aren’t worried right now.
I’m more than 250 pages into my book. I was shocked. It’s going to be an ugly draft when I’m hit The End (around 500 pages is my guess), but that’s what revisions are for.
It’s February! I need to really hunker down and work. Plus start re-engaging on social media, but baby steps, right?
It’s been a pretty quiet week. Oh I saw a friend for lunch on Wednesday and that was awesome! I also had a Caribbean salad I really enjoyed too. Lately, it seems like only about one-in-four restaurant meals are decent anymore.

I don’t have any big plans for the weekend, except working. Wizard will be watching the Superbowl, I’ll either be writing, playing with Maggie or reading. Unless I go see Baby Slayer, cause I can drive now!

Okay your turn to share your Friday Five. I hope everyone has a great weekend! Stay warm and safe!

I hope everyone in the path of the dangerously cold weather is warm and safe!

Now onto Wednesday Worthy. Our candidate today made me think of Ram from my Wing Slayer Hunter Series:

Weekend Roundup

Freedom from the hard brace is awesome :-) Yeah, I’m doing a lot, and Sunday evening, I’m super tired, but so happy to be able to do things.

–I wrote a quick scene that I’ll refine and finish today.  I still keep my work hours limited, and I’m trying to make more effective use of my time at the computer. That’s a work in progress!

–We’re looking into options for our vacation.

–I made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Now the dumb thing here is that I wouldn’t stop for one minute to go get Wizard to have him stir in the oats and chips for me. Of all the things I’ve done in the last week…that’s the one that made me sore, LOL! However it won’t damage my neck, so ***shrug***, not really a big deal.

–I’m working on stretches that don’t put too much pressure on my neck. While they are making me sore in the short-term, they will be a big help long-term. I’m doing these before I go back to the gym (for light, doctor approved, workouts).

–I held Baby Slayer for hours yesterday and everyone is relaxing around me. Again, I’m careful. For instance, I won’t carry him down their steep stairs yet, I just hand him off to his mom.  Wizard was over there helping CPA Boy trim back trees, weed and do some spring yard cleaning that was a big job. Wizard was really tired, so I drove home. That’s a huge win for me! It’s a long drive, and even over-protective Wizard was comfortable. Plus he got to see how I’m compensating. I’d lost some of my ability to turn my neck before my surgery, so the limitations from my fusion now isn’t really a big adjustment.

–I’m walking Maggie all over. Here’s a picture of Maggie when she hears the girls across the street. Maggie loves them. When she sits like this, she wants out. Of course, sometimes, she’s doomed to disappointment, but she still tries just in case I’ll take her out to say hi to them.

–Wizard told me yesterday I’m doing great. How is it that after all these years of marriage, his complements still make me happy? I’m really glad he’s relaxing now. He did so much for me for three long months.

Obviously, I’m feeling the high of this step of recovery. I’m very aware of the road ahead, but right now, I’m just happy to be this far along. Today I’m going to dial down the physical activity to give my muscles a break :-)

So that was my weekend, how was yours?

Friday Five

TGIF! Time to share five things around our week:

I’m officially out of the hard brace!! I’m so happy. I’ll sleep in the soft brace for another month, but being totally freed of the hard brace is a huge relief.  I’ve graduated to no heavy lifting and common sense restrictions. My doctor could see shadows in the x-rays that indicate some bone growth around the donor bone, exactly what we were looking for. I’m still sore and have some pain, but this is progress, and a really good visit. Overall, it’s going to take a somewhere around a year to fully heal.
The doctor okayed me to fly, so Wizard and I are getting serious about a Hawaii trip late spring or early summer.
Maggie threw up the other night just as we were sitting down to dinner. Impeccable, and gross, timing, LOL! She seemed fine after that so it was probably just one of those dog things.
The weather has swung from big rains to dry and windy. My sinuses are annoyed. And everywhere I go, it seems everyone else is suffering allergies too.
Writing…well I didn’t jump ahead, instead I got the reunion scene like I want it for now. I’m hoping to move the book forward today, and tomorrow. Sunday is a Baby Slayer day :-)

That’s my five! Your turn! I really do love hearing whatever you all want to share about your week. I hope all of you have a great weekend!
