Couch-to-5K Running Program (12 Week)

Couch to 5k Christian Fitness

So you’re ready to tackle a 5K? You’ve come to the right place!

Here is your 12 week plan for going from the couch to running a 5k. The running plan we’re providing is a run/walk plan. Here’s how it works:

Each run day, you’ll have a run-to-walk ratio to use. A ratio of 1:5 means you would run 1 minute and walk for 5. You’d then repeat this ratio until that day’s mileage is complete. A ratio of 2:3 means you would run for 2 minutes and walk for 3. And so on.

Notice, you’ll only use one ratio...

Inviting God In

Inviting God In - Christian Fitness

My youngest son, Silas, is all boy. Wants to wrestle. Wants to play in the dirt. Wants to sword fight with sticks. And wants to play Legos… oh does he love him some Legos. I’m so grateful for those Danish geniuses, even if the razor sharp edges give my feet nightmares. Legos challenge both lobes of the brain, yet are fun for kids and parents alike.

Often times, Silas will ask, “Daddy, do you want to play with me?”

“Sure buddy, what do you want to do?” I’ll respond.

“We could play Legos?”

“Tha...

What Spiritual Freedom Means

What Spiritual Freedom Means

This excerpt is taken from The Body Tithe Devotional byMatthewPryorwith permission from Sophros, LLC (publisher), 2015.

I’m writing this on the Fourth of July, when our great country celebrates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Independence Day is the perfect name for it. We had declared our independence from Great Britain and established sovereignty as our own nation. We got our own form of government, laws, and rights. Now, we take this day every year to observe the m...

The Facts About Feelings

Facts About Feelings - Christian Fitness

Let’s face it, sometimes thingswould be much easier if we were all just robots. Moving from one task to another in a cold, systematic fashion, we would be much more efficient and productive gearsinthe machine of life without all these pesky emotions gettingin the way.

Yet, in God’s infinite wisdom, He gave usthe gift of emotions, which truly add life to life. However, as is so often the case, we are quick to be ruled by our giftsat the expense of the Giver.

A few months back, I was on Solid St...

The Most Frequent Command in the Bible

Do Not Be Afraid Christian Fitness

When youthink through the “do’s and don’ts” of the Bible, I’m guessing one or more of the following come to mind:

Do not lie Do not steal Love your enemies Do not murder Do unto others as you’d have them do to you Love your neighbor as yourself

All these are certainly Biblical and applicable today. But surprisingly, none of them are repeated with all that much frequency. And certainly none of them come close to the repetition of the most popular command in the Bible. You ready? Dru...

Ignoring Your Fitness Is Selfish

Ignoring Your Fitness

Ignoring your fitness is selfish.

There… I said it.

I know it’s not easy to hear. I know I just lost some friends on social media. I know it doesn’t seem compassionate.

I also know it’s the truth.

Before I tell you why ignoring your fitness is selfish, let me throw out a few caveats.

Watching the Wind

Watching the Wind - Christian Fitness

“I’ll start Monday.”

“Once work slows down, I’ll have more time.”

“Too much going on with the holidays. I’ll start when they’re over and kids are back in school.”

Let’s face it, we are busy people. There are always things going on and there are no signs of life slowing down.

Kids. Work. Sports. Church. Spouse. Friends. School…

This ever-growing list is the perfect excuse for not taking action.

I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news first: there is no perfect time. Your calendar...

Crossrope Review: The Perfect Piece of Cardio Equipment?

Crossrope Review - Feature

In thisCrossropereview, we are going to cover what Crossrope is and what separates it from other cardio equipment.

Usually, when you think of cardio equipment, you think treadmills, elliptical trainers, stair steppers, or some kind ofhybrid of each of these. Certainly stationary bikes fit that category and with the popularity of Crossfit, rowing machines have made a comeback.

What do all these things have in common?

They’re big and bulky. They’re expensive. They require electricity. Th...

Today, I want to go a little more in depth onPhase 1: The Fire Phase. Here’s what I say about the first phase in The Body Tithe Devotional.
