A morsel of you
I reflect on what we might have been
had things been different
life’s unforseen,twists and turns
following fates convuluted hand
I had a glimpse or a dream
of a different future – built on sand
Would we have been greater in pairing
or a disaster that fate has been kind in sparing
our paths met, then diverged, adding richness
loneliness and sadness in the parting
leaving a layer of learning which must add growth
or is this but a hollow dream
What I am yet to become
will be due to singular striving
Happiness and fulfillment
in this life needs work and dedication
I reflect on what is now
what might have been I disallow
Another world, another life, we might be bliss
Until then I gather life and fulfill my destiny
unable to be blue living life to the full
only more so because I shared a morsel with you.

Cougar NOT Cougar
To be a cougar you have to know
what one is, although
maybe you don’t, it’s in the flow
to not be a cougar can lead to strife
Young men wanting you to try the life
propositioning older women, seems rife
Are they wanting the good that experience brings
or, just sex with no restricting strings
they Offer themselves as a sex machine
think it must the older woman’s dream
to be a cougar you must be on the prowl
if not a cougar
do we become prey, when the young buck howls?

Love songs and poems
Listening to the love songs
reading the poetry books
love should be out there
can’t be overlooked
take my breath away
love at first sight
these are the prizes
if the authors are right
looked around the corners
under the seats
in my life, that sort of love
seems to have me beat
take a deep breath, what do I smell
old socks , damp washing on the line
where are the roses or jasmine
romantic and fine
I think I have
had the sparks and the flashes
but not the full thunderstorm
or arel those songs and poems
so far from the norm
Is companionship and friendship
a more sustainable refrain
am I searching for unicorns
pots of gold, bubbles in champagne
I want to taste the sweetness
of honey on my tongue
yes still I am searching
for a cliched romantic world of my own
Then I look up as a shadow drains the light
you walk into the house smiling
perhaps my shining knight
am I wasting my life on improbable profiling
Is my love with me
but my mind doesn’t see?
I am confused, who can help me?

Thrive
World expanding ,hovering somewhere near the sun
Reviewing hopes and fantasies, nearly come undone
Exponential, Epoch, Elevate and Energised
Willing, Wit, Wisdom try to be Wise
Fulfillment, Functioning, Feelings helps life flow
Growing, Gentle, Gratitude learning how to glow
Turning self belief into a better way to live
Changing my perspective learning how to thrive.

Song of Strings
Song of the Strings
The skill, truly an art form
a sophistication
as the halls are filled
with musicians
bows drawn
to flow smoothly
against the strings
each section adds their voices
a swell of sound that
climbs and resonates
notes and chords lead and twirl
as the musicians follow
the Maestro’s directions
to create total harmony
as they show pure heart
passion and joy
music to uplift, sooth or arouse the soul
will the world swoon in approbation
or will only some take time
to listen and enjoy the sounds
made on instuments of wood and gut

Fantasy and reality
Fantasy and reality side by side grow
boundaries blur where is the plateau?
starkness of words translated into pictures
holes in the substance, filled in, no glitches
Subconscious embellishment start a glow
bad habits, never witnessed, don’t spoil the show
endearments uttered are stored in memories box
intense and important, they become a paradox
She needs her emotions stirred, to feel a connection
his drivers very different, need inspection
married to other’s, they met playing a game
chatting and sharing life in a cyber domain
She’s desperate for love, her happiness compromised
she grabs affection and excitement, it makes her blind
he looks for flirtation, moves through lusts revolving door
enjoys the immediate journey, never requiring more
Intimacy inevitably grows with the sharing
Could be great, if their perspectives were pairing
she loves that he calls her by that special name
unaware he calls, all other girls the same
He is wrapped up and interested, its no ploy
but soon he will be bored and move to another toy
her one in a million man will gradually pull away
Leaving her devastated and crying at close of day

Just to say
William Carlos Williams an imagist poet wrote with great brevity and wrote a poem in note form called Just to Say .
I have attempted a poem in the same style
I asked you and you said
No you didn’t want one
Have been dropping hints
About the benefits
I know we haven’t had
a detailed discussion
I worry that hot water
bottles will burst
So I just want to say
I have ordered one
An electric blanket which
I hope will make us both
More comfortable

Serendipitous soliloquy
Does this tirade scan iambically...
Serendipitous soliloquy
Does this tirade scan iambically
I pace the floor while shouting my declaimation
Trying to rid myself of my consternation
You swore you loved me, You chased and wooed me
I began to trust and became your devotee
How could I become sucked in to this morass
I am feeling such an ass
My ego has nose dived my world has rocked
I am feeling such dismay my system is shocked
This drama is unfolding as I play my scene
Wishing like Shakespeare the villain could intervene
Or at least eavesdrop on this great soliloquy
Instead of an audience composed of just me
I hope across the ether the echoes resonate
Making you aware of my solitary debate

Why rhyme
Words crawl across the page
Full of ideas, need to engage
Stories, prose or rhyme
Has to be rhyme, when , little time
Rhythms and rhymes feels so easy
Feel so right, work so cleanly
Poetry purists will say how cheesy
Expell their breath, very wheezy
An idea to express, reaction to provoke
A hope for debate, revolt, or quote
Human relationships float my boat
Love, lust and human trust, my promote
Why rhyme
Nice line
Tends to keep things
On springs
I can do more rounded prose
Use large words,maybe pose
Metrical composition
Personification recognition
Versification
Conflagragation
As long as it rhymes
Suits my paradigms
Why rhyme
Because I so love it!
Sadness sometimes lurks in a corner
But as an optimist,I try t be an informer
