Rising Ridge Soundtrack Preview!
Have you noticed that all my blog post titles are titles of songs? They are. I love music, it’s important to me. The proverbial radio of my life was plugged in and turned up at the age of 16 when I walked into a record store and applied for my first job.
The job and the record store are distant memories, but the music…it’s still playing.
As I sit behind my computer and create an entire world out of a blank screen and a few keystrokes, it is the music that flows out of the speakers on my desk that opens that world to me. I am there. I see what they see. I feel what they feel.
I’ve just put together a complete soundtrack of 19 songs that I hope will transport you as it did me. As you listen, chapter by chapter, song by song…be free. Be there.
The full soundtrack will have its debut along with the book at the launch party, but will be released online in a few weeks. Until then, I offer you a small peek into the music that will take you to Rising Ridge.
** You will have to obtain a Spotify account to enjoy this playlist. I apologize for the inconvenience, but it is a way for me to legally be able to offer you music and ensure that the artists are paid for their hard work**

Social Media Contest
We’ve got fun and games…
It’s contest time around here! A good way to soften the blow of a little social media saturation.
Getting the word out can often be tough, but as with everything in life, it is what you make of it. So, I’m going to make it fun!
Check out those widgets on the right hand side of your screen, and hit those like, follow, and friend buttons. If the mood strikes, share with your friends!
Every person who participates will be entered in a raffle for a $5 gift card that will be given away this evening at 10pm. Every like, friend, follow or share gets you another chance!
For those planning on attending the launch party (details on my appearances page) you will be entered in to win one of three fun door prizes!
Have you already liked, followed, friended and shared my pages? Well then, you’re already entered to win!
Good luck!!

Introducing Briana
This evening I was thrilled to take the backseat and host a special event for the very lovely ladies of the “Just off Wetherburn” Book Club. For October, they wisely chose Shatter by Briana Michaels. Looking for something fun, but with a little bit of spirit for the Halloween season, Shatter was the perfect choice.
I contacted Briana immediately and invited her to make an appearance, and share with the ladies some insights of her story. Briana is one of my oldest, and certainly my dearest friend in the world. It thrills me to be able to bring her book to new readers, and it was a true blessing to see her shine as she spoke about her writing process.
It is an amazing thing to have a friend that you’ve gone through all seasons of life with, and you get to be there when they truly begin to emerge on the other side.
Go check out my girl, she will take you on an amazing adventure.

Seeing things (for the first time)
This month was about sending what has safely rested in the little file that nobody knew about on my computer out into the working world. With my final draft complete, I had no other choice but to admit its existence and hand it over to the people that know way more than me. The editing people, the formatting people, the copyright people….all the people involved in making the book that will one day soon be in your hands.
Everything is making its way back home, and I am so excited! I am seeing my work, in its completed form for the first time. While I am still working hard to finish up these last details, I am pleased to share with you my beautiful cover.
They say a pictures worth a thousand words, I say this one is worth about 75 thousand of them.

Unwritten
My first book is coming out soon, it’s currently under wraps being wildly picked apart and lovingly put back together. It will be out in December, and one thing I know to be true is that this whole process has been one giant step into something new for me. One. Giant. Scary. Step.
That’s the point of life, isn’t it? I have a magnet that I bought years ago so that I could look at it every day and remind myself of my own worth.
“Do one thing every day that scares you.” — Elenore Roosevelt.
Every week for the last nine months, I have sat down at this computer of mine and done one thing that scares me. I have loved every second of this, and discovered something new about myself.
I’m a writer. Who knew? Well, maybe a few of you did.
I hope that you enjoy the book, and I look forward to the journey ahead.
