Current Projects

Hey Everyone!

I thought it would be nice to post a little bit about what my current writing projects are and where interested parties can find them.

My Wattpad profile is the home of all my current projects, as well as the original draft of "Glass Roses," should anyone be interested in checking out the version that started it all.

I am working on three new stories:

"Princess of the Peas" - A modern retelling of the classic fairy tale "The Princess and the Pea." This story includes a little magic, a little romance, and a little haute cuisine. Set in modern-day Seattle, it is a bit of a departure from my previous work. It has been exciting to try something a little different!

"Black Pearls" - A retelling of a traditional French Polynesian legend of a similar name, set on the atolls of Tahiti. This was my first real attempt at novel-writing back when I participated in NaNoWriMo 2013. Now I am cleaning up the text and trying to turn a messy 50,000 words into a real story.

"Apple Blossoms" - Another epistolary historical/fairytale mash-up in the same flavor as "Glass Roses." Set in Regency England and Wales and featuring decidedly non-magical versions of the beloved characters Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. Both girls will share an antagonist in this story, because how many evil woman can London really hold at one time? ;)

All of these stories can be found for free on my Wattpad profile. While there, you can also check out my reading lists and see some of the stories and authors I find particularly interesting! Not all of them have gotten to the self-publishing step yet, which makes it even more important that their work is noticed and appreciated on Wattpad.

That's about it for now. Happy Reading!

Welcome!

Hello Friends!

Thank you so much for your interest in my work. I am excited to see that "Glass Roses" is already gaining a little following here on Goodreads. It had been quite the adventure, writing this first novel. If you have ever wanted to try sharing your work with people, but were afraid of the pressure that would come with it, I highly recommend starting out with a Wattpad account. Those early jitters disappear quickly once you start getting feedback from fellow readers, and the community there is overwhelmingly interested in supporting one another and actively sharing each other's work.

Using the site certainly helped calm my nerves. To this day I feel as though my discovery of the site was inspired, because without it I think I would have chickened out of this whole self-publishing thing a long time ago. Even now that I have published a book through Kindle, I plan to use Wattpad as my home base for all new projects. I want to engage readers from the first word, and sharing my first drafts as free serial publications seems like the best way to do that.

Anyway, this was just a ramble to start off my new blog and hopefully make it look a little less blank. Thank you for reading, and thank you in advance for any feedback you might choose to leave for me. Hearing what you think is massively important; without your opinions, I cannot learn where I need to improve as a writer. You, reader, make it possible for me to become a better writer. So... you're pretty important, in case you didn't know. ;)

Happy Reading!
