Florence Bascom was the first woman to work for the US geographical survey. When she attended university for geology her professors would force her stay behind a screen so she wouldn’t distract the male students. (SO ridiculously gross) She was the 2nd woman to get a PhD in her field, became a professor and basically taught an entire generation of female geologists. Florence rocks!
