exhaustion mixes w/ excitement for a place i've wanted to go forever: woke up in a panic that i'd somehow been fired from dinner reservation #

NYCC FOOD GUIDE(S)
ok, so first of all: i recommend you all take a look at cb cebulski's list, over here:
http://eataku.tumblr.com/post/1222318759/my-nycc-food-guide-part-one
i agree with pretty much everything he recommended. hallo berlin is very inconsistent, foodwise, outside of their sausage… i've had great meals there and not so great.
pony bar is one of the must-go bars in the city. a pretty fantastic selection.
if you head to marea, have the octopus and bone marrow fusili. it ain't cheap, but it's an amazing restaurant and an amazing dish.
that said: first and foremost the one recommendation i can make for visitors to NYC: if you're looking for dinner? i would ditch that neighborhood altogether. you're being hamstrung by proximity to one of the shittiest neighborhoods in manhattan. if you're not from around here, do yourself a favor and wander.
for example: co. has really good pizza, (they changed the name on the front of the restaurant to COMPANY, in case you end up going) but for my money the prosciutto and rucola pie at numero 28 on carmine is one of the best pizza pies in the city.
http://www.menupages.com/restaurants/numero-28/
if you head to the west village you'll be in one of the nicest neighborhoods in the city and you'll be able to check out barbuto which is easyish to get a reservation at and not an arm and a leg for a delicious jonathan waxman menu.
if you head to the east village, i'd send you to BACK 40 for one of the best burgers in the city and an excellent menu in general. also one of the best cocktail bartenders in the city and an amazing craft beer selection on tap.
headed to williamsburg? try the amazing pork buns at M SHANGHAI DEN.
headed to soho? try the amazing open fire-cooked menu at PEASANT.
headed to midtown east? try TABLA or ELEVEN MADISON PARK which share the same building and are both spectacular.
first and foremost if you want to make dinner plans: MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS NOW.
it's NYC and IT'S THE WEEKEND. wait til that night and you're gonna have a pretty unhappy time eating at TGI fridays.
more than anything, if you're coming to NYCC: stop by tables F4-F9 and introduce yourself. i'll be the one with the beard.

ps i may or may not be dictating to someoene who can see the keyboard better than i can right now #
ok maybe also this fancypants peanut butter and jelly business http://yfrog.com/jt73ftj #
people with goatees: stop having goatees, they are terrible. #
that goes 18x plus for you if you have a goatee AND a ponytail. #
new bar. delancey st. http://yfrog.com/n8t5usj #
look goateed people… you think anyone wanted to give up bellbottoms? i'm not saying it's easy. i'm just saying maybe the time has passed. #
