Crystal Light - 4 places to see in Brazil, South America
My main character, Blanca visits the following 4 places in Brazil, South America.
1. Ipanema, a place located in the south of Rio de Janeiro is surrounded by rolling hills and fine, sandy beaches. There are designer stores such as Louis Vuitton, Cartier, and Mont Blanc.
2. The Rio Carnival is held 6 weeks before Easter every year in Rio de Janeiro, with an exhibition area called the Sambadrome featuring samba-school parades. Samba music resounds and dancers wear skimpy costumes, feathered attire, and fancy headpieces as they dance to the rhythmic percussion beats in their Latin moves.
3. Take a cable car overlooking Sugarloaf Mountain. View the Statue Christ on top of Corcovado Mountain.
4. Visit the National Library in the centre of Rio de Janeiro with its Greek-style setting, huge columns, and multitude of windows. See the interior red-carpeted marble staircase, works of art in every corner, as well as thematic exhibitions and guided tours for tourists.
What a Dream!

My self-publishing path
I started out writing creative stories a number of years ago, but they were not accepted by traditional publishers. I did get one acceptance from a Canadian Publisher, but then they went bankrupt. Years later, I started using Ibooks on my ipad, reading and downloading books. I thought to myself, 'I can write a book that's cheaply priced,' so I rummaged through my old stories and reworked one of them. It needed a lot of work. Then I had it professionally edited and organised the self-publishing process via Bookbaby. Bookbaby have now distributed my book, Crystal Light to a range of online retailers. I also have a Book Page with them, where customers can buy my book directly on that page. They also sent me information about Book Promo, which involves Bookbaby's publishing partners for marketing purposes. I have gone crazy with some of these marketing companies, but have steered clear from some of the expensive paid promotions for now. I am working on another romance as well as a romantic suspense. It is so rewarding and meaningful to have that control over people's lives in fiction. It is my passion for life.

Crystal Light Behind the Scenes
My main character, Blanca from Crystal Light explores a secret past in Brazil. This leads her to a disturbing truth, further triggering and exacerbating symptoms of trauma including nightmares, flashbacks, anxiety, avoidance of intimacy or detachment, and sadness. Her nightmare doesn't end there, when a stalker is in her midst. Will she win out in the end as the stalker reaches closer to her prey?
The story was written as a way to inspire hope in those who have experienced trauma or victimisation, to create a connection amongst those feeling victimised. The main character shows determination and strength, which leads her to challenges and confrontation with the truth. No-one can avoid the truth as eventually it will grab them in one form or another.
Crystal Light is a book for entertainment and written as an inspiration of hope and resilience. As a Counsellor myself, I have encountered traumatic issues amongst clients, and am amazed at how those who've endured the worst imaginable tend to be survivors, and at times, will develop what's known as posttraumatic growth. I believe that my novella, Crystal Light speaks to those who seek connection when victimised or traumatised, and also speaks to those who are inspired by strong, believable characters that mirror their own innate strength (as we all have that strength but are afraid to use it at times, or need to find a way to access that strength).
I hope you enjoy reading Crystal Light.
