Lezing ‘Waarom wij een masker dragen’

Met plezier lees ik jullie hier mijn nieuw kinderboek ‘Waarom wij een masker dragen’ voor.

Dit jaar is de Kerst en Nieuwjaarsperiode wel héél raar. Dat ambetante coronavirus heeft ons leven danig in de war gestuurd. En voor kinderen is het misschien allemaal nog veel vreemder. Om de dingen rond corona en Covid-19 op een voor kinderen verstaanbare manier toe te lichten heb ik dit nieuw prentenboek in de serie ‘Margot de bosmarmot en haar eekhoornfamilie in Noord-Amerika’ gemaakt. Dr. Sarah en haar collega Dr. Jules geven ons uitleg.

Waarom wij een masker dragen

Toen de tweede Covid-19 golf aankwam, moest ik heel veel moeten denken aan mijn ex collega’s op spoedgevallen Gasthuisberg. Want een ongelooflijke inspanning moesten zorgverleners overal weer uit de kast halen.

Om hen te steunen kreeg ik het idee om een nieuw kinderboek te maken over waarom het belangrijk is een masker te dragen. Margot de bosmarmot en haar uitgebreide eekhoornfamilie hebben het dan van mij overgenomen. Zij leggen op de van hen gekende manier het waarom en hoe van een mondmasker dragen uit.

Ik ben dan ook heel blij dat ik je nu kan vertellen dat ‘Waarom wij een masker dragen’ gepubliceerd en dus beschikbaar is!

Auntie Nann’s reading of my latest picture book ‘Time for Margot to Go to Bed’ was a real revelation to me. As a photographer, I always thought that my photos were indispensable to tell my story. But Auntie Nann proved the tale is working without words.

Of course, the illustration photographs are the icing on the cake. But now I even start thinking of making an audiobook of it. An audiobook of a picture book isn’t that heavenly.

Hurray, I won a Book Award

I am so happy that I won this Book Award, the same day I received two wonderful new book reviews for ‘Time for Margot to Go to Bed’

Een geweldige ervaring: in klasjes te mogen voorlezen

Deze week heb ik iets fantastisch meegemaakt. Ik ben mijn nieuwste boek ‘Margot moet gaan slapen’ gaan voorlezen en de foto illustraties tonen in vijf klasjes (2 keer een eerste studiejaar en 3 keer in een kleuterklas) van de basisschool te Walshoutem en Waasmont.

Ik was op voorhand nogal wat zenuwachtig want ik had dit nog nooit gedaan. Maar daar hebben die kinderen mij snel over geholpen. Hun enthousiasme was aanstekelijk, hun reacties hartveroverend.  Wat heb ik genoten om voor kinderen voor te lezen! Een dikke pluim voor de leerlingen van Walshoutem en Waasmont. En voor de leerkrachten en directie natuurlijk, die hun kinderen aanmoedigen om te lezen.
