Little Spheres – A Gentle Reminder I Needed to Hear

I was feeling a little low yesterday. Not having achieved this or that, wishing for more, wanting …wondering why I was feeling the way I was. I decided to pray, to share how I was feeling with the Spirit of Love, because if you can’t talk to the One who loves you when you’re feeling blue, it’s not much of a relationship, now is it?

I went on for a while, moaning about this, whining about that. Then, in an attempt to right myself, I started listing the things in my life I’m thankful for, the blessings I appreciate and enjoy each day, and it was THEN that this thought occurred to me. A quote from one of my favourite books, by one of my favourite authors (A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens)

“I never knew that any Christian spirit working kindly in its little sphere, whatever it may be, will find its mortal life too short for its vast means of usefulness.”

It was then I realized the error of my thinking. No, I may not sell as many books as J.K. Rowling or Brandon Sanderson. I may not touch as many lives as Oprah, Graham Norton, or Denzel Washington. But those who have read my books have told me how they touched them. My neighbors speak kindly of me and call me the “Kind Woman”. I feed the birds and squirrels, and I care for stray kitties when no one else will. I make a small, gentle impact, working kindly in my little sphere.

Yesterday, I felt low, defeated, and purposeless, but I learned several very important things through that feeling.

1- Feeling low is ok. It reminds us to refocus on what truly matters.

2- When we pray, it’s ok to share how you’re feeling. Love listens and understands, but it’s equally important not to stay in that place of negativity. By shifting your focus to something for which you’re grateful, you open yourself to learning; you allow the answers you’re looking for to come through. (negativity repels. Positivity attracts.)

3- We don’t have to be superstars to be superstars. Be Kind. Be Present. Be Compassionate. If we all ‘work in our little spheres’ the world will overflow.

If you’ve read this far, thank you. YOU are a blessing to me.

Wishing You Joy, Peace, and Light This Holiday Season!

As the year draws to a close and the air fills with the warmth of celebration, may this season bring you moments of connection, reflection, and gratitude. Whether you’re lighting candles, gathering with loved ones, sharing gifts, or honoring traditions both old and new, may your days be filled with laughter, kindness, and the glow of hope.

From the twinkle of lights to the joy of togetherness, this is a time to celebrate the beauty of our shared humanity.

No matter what or how you celebrate—be it Christmas, Hanukkah, Yule, Kwanzaa, Solstice, or simply the season of giving—may your heart be full, your home be bright, and the new year bring you blessings of abundance, peace, and love.

Warmest wishes for a season as magical and meaningful as you are!

Crimson – #Fantasy #Preview

.

Turning the shadowy corner, she thought to press on, in spite of the many Legionnaires filling the encampment; crowding round its many sulfur braziers with faces half-covered to protect themselves from the malodorous fumes while hoping to extract some measure of warmth from the ineffectual fires.  Disguised beneath the veil of bent light she had cast round herself in order to traverse the dangerous avenues of the Uunglarda unseen, Ilys stepped onward lightly without a sound or any indication of her presence; yet as she came to the end of the street, where a black tent marked the Centurion’s quarters,  a Legionnaire in crimson leather strode purposefully into the middle of the street, stopped directly in her path, and glared at her.

She froze; catching her breath and refusing to breathe so not to give herself away as her mind spun, seeking some means of escape.  She remained invisible behind the ripple of light she bent round herself, but his crimson stare pierced into her from beneath a broad, brown leather bandana, which kept his shoulder-length, jet black hair from falling into his eyes.  In the mustiness and reek of the Bathracht encampment, he had turned the collar of his coat up and had cinched it tightly to avert some measure of the noxious fumes poisoning the air. He stood unmoving with his arms crossed assertively across his broad chest while, in an incongruously non-threatening gesture, his held his wings tightly folded behind him.

“Yes, I can see you.”  His voice was little more than a hoarse whisper, but it sent a shudder through her that made her teeth chatter…..

This snippet introduces one of several new characters in Breaking Into The Light.  His name is Nunvaret and he is a Captain of Demonfey.  He is a tortured soul, one who knows he cannot escape the darkness consuming him, but one who also desperately wants to. Occupying a position of power as a Captain of the DemonFey of the Realm, he is expected to be ruthless and unfeeling, but each act of cruelty tears away another piece of his soul.  Secretly, he is one of The Watchers, those who understand the Ancient Texts and await the arrival of The One, foretold to bring liberation for all Dark Fey.

Dark Fey is currently being re-written to take it from being a Young Adult fantasy to a Dark Fantasy for Adult readers.  The Reviled will be rereleased soon!

A Thankful Heart – #Thoughts for #Thanksgiving

A Thankful Heart is Open to Blessings
because it is closed to worry, doubt, and wailing.

A Thankful Heart is Filled with Love
because it empties itself of loathing, greed, and envy.

A Thankful Heart is Overflowing with Peace
because it does not Share itself with lies, distrust, and negativity.

A Thankful Heart Touches Others with its Blessings and Love
because it is Ever in the Presence of Love and Blessing.

A Thankful Heart Speaks in Kindness, Patience and Empowerment
because it does not Speak of hate, intolerance or to incapacitate.

A Thankful Heart Chooses its Path Each Day with Diligence and Joy
because it does not Concentrate on what it cannot do.

A Thankful Heart Walks in Hope, Love, Peace and Joy
because it Knows nothing else.

A Thankful Heart Shares its Purpose
because it is Incapable of Withholding All that Pours from its Abundant Profusion.

Embark upon Each New Day with a Thankful Heart
and You will Find Endless Blessings for which to be Thankful.

You are a Blessing for which I am very thankful. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. ❣
