I Shall Remain

In Faithful Solitude

As Long as You Ask me to,

Knowing,

Certain,

Standing in Faith Upon the Bastion of Hope

You Alone have Built,

Until Time comes to Fruition,

Until All the Blossoms of these Dreams,

In Sweetness,

Fulfilling Every Blessed Moment Beyond my Imagining,

Become Dulcet Treasure.

I Stand in Faith,

I Wait in Hopeful Expectation,

Filled with the Light only You Give,

Radiantly Shining into the Tempestuous Darkness,

Looking neither to the right or left,

But Watching the Glimmering Horizon You have Set Before me,

Walking Straight on ‘Til Morning,

In Patient Love.

Today is first Sunday of Advent, and this day marks the beginning of the Holy Season. We wait for the day Heaven will come to Earth and gather us into its sacred heart.

I remember as a child waiting for something, hoping for something….not presents or santa….something magical….I remember explaining santa to my friends when I was 7…I told them that santa was the spirit of kindness and generosity, and so, everyone wanting or pretending to be santa really was, because they carried this spirit within. So Santa, I told them, was real. That year my family let me be Santa for the smaller kids.

I remember as a 16 year old throwing a pre Christmas party for my friends, giving them homemade presents and little poems about hope and togetherness…I made it a tradition, and kept this up for many years.

I remember at 18 celebrating Christmas alone in…

When All the Weight of this World Lays Heavy Upon Your Shoulders;

When Guilt, Shame, Despair, Remorse, Fear, Anger and Bitterness Cloud Your Vision with Tears;

When The Sun refuses to Shine and the Skies close in, heavy with Leaden Rain and Seeking Fire;

When You feel Utterly Alone, Abandoned, Rejected, Neglected, Abused, and Forlorn;

Remember:

Love Kneels Beside you

Quietly Weeping,

Patiently Listening,

Inexorably Waiting,

Darkness Flees

Purest fire, Tempt my Soul

And Teach me to Speak in Truth alone.

Sing unto my straining ear, Seeking Wisdom,

Craving Guidance.

In long and lonely State,

I stand perplexed and wondering,

Yet You Hear my questioning thoughts,

You Understand the mortal fears of my heart,

For in Your Image, Am I Wrought,

And in Your Light, Am I Revealed.

Fear beguiles, Lamenting and Sad,

But in Your Shadow do I Walk and

Darkness Flees in all Directions.
