Dampem Soul
[image error]
by Sakhi
The breeze tonight is damp
It scrapes and wounds
Moon rose beyond the lake
Shrivels and languid
The life you sowed for me
I’m yet to reap or live
Alone I breathe for you
Alone I breathe for us
My soul ushered my corpse
Into a strange city
The day is not ablaze
Depart does not have the night
No matter how we tried
The chasm only grew
The days We left behind
Today beckon and smile
The breeze tonight is Damp
It scrapes and wounds
Moon rose beyond the lake
Shrivels and Languid

Sally, Sally (#guestblogger)
Sally had curls. They were grey like her face and bounced with air when she played hopscotch in the driveway. She lived out where the traffic was sparse and wildflowers grew from the cracks in the sidewalk.
Sally was also dead, but she couldn’t remember how. She shared her home with many families; some of them changed the curtains in the kitchen, and some of them repainted the porch.
Sally was seven—she was always seven, but that was okay, because Sally was dead, a grey ghost amidst the flowery tapestry of her old home, and Sally felt forever fine.

Pride – Part 1 (#guestblogger)
Posted on November 5, 2016
I want to thank Susan Irene Fox for giving me the idea to do a series on pride in hopes that all of us will look deep inside ourselves and make sure that our pride is under control.
In my experience, if your immediate reaction to that statement is that yours is under control, it probably is not. I have been there before, and hope to never again have unrecognized pride in my life. This is a first installment to give you some background.
One of the most fascinating things about pride is that it hides itself from the individual who is afflicted by it. I bet all of us have seen people who are full of pride and wonder why they don’t take care of that attitude. Don’t they know it is unattractive and a big turn-off? Well, no they don’t. In fact, they don’t even see it. Let me take a moment to share my story with you.
I was a worship leader, Sunday school teacher, youth minister and fill-in preacher at my church. I also filled in at other churches occasionally. I was looked upon by those around me as having it all together and one that loved the Lord. And I did love the Lord, and I loved ministry. My wife, on the other hand, saw the pride in my life and kept telling me it was there, but I would not listen. In fact, I kept explaining to her that I was a humble servant of God.
But the real truth lay in the fact that when I was alone, I was living a depraved lifestyle. I will not go into details, but I was not living as a Christian, but as a heathen. The things I was doing were expressly condemned in God’s word, and I knew the Bible. I knew they were wrong. But I thought God would overlook those things. In fact, whenever I had a close call to someone discovering my sinful ways, I always thanked God for “warning” me ahead of time so I could clean things up.
Well, as we all know, what is kept secret will eventually come out, and mine did. And it cost me big time. In my pride, I violated a major policy in my workplace, one that I had written, and I got caught. I was immediately terminated after 20 years of working for the company. My pastor, who had known about my sin from a previous exposure and had worked hard with me to get deliverance before I started up again, told me I was not welcome in his church any longer unless I got help. And I did get help.
I went to Pure Life Ministries in Kentucky for Eight months. Eight months of hard work, bunk beds, dorm style living and intense bible study. Eight months of counseling which showed me the pride that was so rampant in my life. Eight months of squashing it down and bringing humility to the forefront. Heck, I was so prideful, I was even proud of my pride! When I look back on who I was it sickens me.
When I got home, I spent two years doing no ministry at all. Just sat in the pew and took things in. I learned to listen to my wife, who can spot my pride in a heartbeat. She has been a Godsend in keeping me on the right path. I am a much more reserved, quiet person than I was before. And I like that.
In this first installment on pride, I will end with this warning. If you are a Christian, and you are doing something that is blatantly sinful, and thinking God will overlook it, that is pride at its worst. God will not overlook disobedience, which is the core of sin. The problem is that if you are reading this and if you are doing what I suggested, you most likely will say that you are not a prideful person.
You will ignore the warning, because your pride will tell you it does not apply. You’re special to God. You don’t have to be perfect. A little sin will keep you humble. That’s why God allows you to keep it.
My friend, all of that is hogwash! And if you are telling yourself this is not for you, then you need to seriously ask God to search your heart and try you as if you’re life depended on it, because it does. God hates pride! And He will not allow it into heaven so you better get rid of it now.
I will be back with more on pride in the coming weeks, because without a spirit of humility, a true spirit of reconciliation is impossible. In the next post, we will examine what pride is. I always thought I knew, but found out it takes on forms I was completely unaware of.
I hope you’ll come back.
I’d love to have you visit one of my blogs:

#FridayFeyDay – Deliberate Ruse
#FridayFeyDay – The Black Tent
[image error]
.
Darkness spiraled upon billows of smoke swirling in the raucous clamor of the reeking village and shadows lurched within the thick bleakness. Through this writhing miasma, a barely perceptible shape moved along the main roadway travelling more rapidly than the ordinary onlooker might track, heading towards the only black tent in camp.
No sounds came from this tent, not any longer, although the cries of a childfey had recently been heard echoing through the neighboring hovels and unkempt buildings lining the street; sounds that had caused many of the resident Dark Ones to withdraw to the farthest end of town or drink more fervently from the nearest bottle. This tent was known for its horrors. It was the Centurion’s tent and he frequently took pleasure in causing pain.
. An Excerpt from Dark Fey Standing In Shadows. The Black Tent of the Centurion of the Reviled Legionnaires strikes fear into even the hardest of the Reviled and with good reason. Sadistically cruel and dedicated to serving the darkness, the Centurions are monsters that All seek to avoid. This scene not only hints at their ruthlessness, but, more importantly, begins to indicate that even the Reviled cannot bear the heartless treatment of childfey.

#FridayFeyDay – The Prophecy of Reclamation
[image error]
.
And the Elders Spoke in Telepathic Unison….
“The hour of decision has come. A desire to help those who cannot help themselves has been expressed and action is appropriate. This is a just and admirable cause, one we Fey of The Light have been unable to undertake before this day; yet the Prophecy of Reclamation seems to have been fulfilled, The One who walks in Light and Shadow, spoken of in the ancient texts, has come forth and his Purpose shall not be impeded.”
What they said was as shocking to her as the manner in which they said it and Ayla stared at them in absolute astonishment, her thoughts scattering in a dozen directions as she sought to recall the precise text they referenced. Even Veryth, who heard their pronouncement as clearly as she and Gairynzvl did, gazed back at them with evident amazement, although his response was tempered with calm serenity as he recited the words of the ancient prophecy.
“Out of the Darkness, Light shall burst forth, Indomitable. And the Light will Prevail over the Darkness by shining into it, Unwavering; Guiding the Innocent from shadow and the irresolute from placidity.”
.
An Excerpt from Dark Fey Standing In Shadows, which speaks of the promise of Hope for those lingering in shadows.

2017 Writing Goals
[image error]
It isn’t terribly surprising that at the onset of a New Year we might take some measure of time to review, re-assess and reorient ourselves and our direction. Neither is it shocking to set out a few goalposts for the upcoming year, although admittedly those ambitions are not always realized. In truth I am not one for making resolutions, because I tend to believe it’s far too easy to walk away from things we resolve to do simply because it’s the beginning of the year.
Setting Goals on the other hand has always been useful and attainable for me. Granted, it’s a fine distinction. It may all be a matter of the mind(set); nevertheless, what you find yourself Believing you are entirely capable of Achieving. I typically tend to set goals in Threes. ‘Now please don’t ask why, no one quite knows the reason’ (bonus points if you can tell me what book that quote is from!), but I find three manageable and once I accomplish all three, I’m always free to set three more! I’ve also found it very helpful to be specific when setting out objectives, because, after all, one can say ‘Oh I want to go the beach’, but that leaves a great deal of unknown territory to cover later on. What Beach? Where? And most importantly, Why? If I iron out the details straightaway, there are fewer stumbling blocks to impede progress, or at least, it seems that way.
So without further blathering (because we all know how well I do that), here are the goals I’ve set out for myself, which you are free to track and I shall (hopefully!) remember to provide updates on as the year rolls along.
Goal One – Priority Status – Complete Dark Fey: Breaking Into The Light
Completing the finale of the Dark Fey Trilogy is first and foremost in my thoughts. It has been in progress the entire year, though it is already longer than either of its predecessors and, with multiple story lines running at once, it has proven to be far more challenging as well. I am looking forward to the culmination of my message through this final installment of the Epic YA Fantasy
[image error]
Goal Two – Poetry Book Project (Whispers In Verse)
Having mountains of poetry from BnV, it seems inevitable that it should end up in a book (or seven). I’ve already decided on the categories: Poems of Peace, Quiet, Tranquility; Poems of Love and Longing; Poems of Inspiration and Belief; Poems of Nature; and Dark Poetry (yes I actually a some of that too!) I’ve even designed the cover, as you can see, and created the description for the first of the series “Whispers in Verse”.

Goal Three – Historical Fiction Project (The Letter)
Life for Adoralysse had always been harrowing, scarred by loss and cruelty. Love and Trust were words she knew nothing of; only pain and sorrow filled her days until one snowy night when she was strong enough to escape her captivity.
Life for Lord Braden Lowerey of Chadlington Park had always been comfortable. Replete with more luxuries than he could ever want or need, his world was well-ordered, governable, and ruled by his benevolent nature. Although he trusted no one and felt not a shred of romantic love for any, philanthropy was easy for him. It provided a means of utilizing his millions while it kept him safely disconnected. Until he discovered an unconscious beauty lying in the snow at the entrance to his expansive estate.
In that moment, his compassion leads him to make unanticipated decisions that draw him under the scrutiny of his peers and puts his reputation in jeopardy. Her past is shrouded in mystery and her future a shadow of mistrust and fear; yet her welfare becomes his only concern and her happiness his sole desire.
But how will two hearts that know neither Trust nor Love open to either?
.
What do you think? Sounds exciting to me, if nothing else. Now, Go ahead…set a few goals for yourself. You might be pleasantly surprised come Dec 31st in all you have achieved!
~Blessings of Creativity and a Wealth of Words to all of you!
