Unspoken Wonder – #RomanticTuesday #LovePoetry

.

Heart and Soul,

Your Patterns and Colours Spill over me

With the Showering Light of Newest Morning,

Drenching my skin in Delicious Warmth,

Filling my senses with Exuberant Joy,

Tantalizing Every Measure of my Spirit

With the Endless, Exotic Wonder of You.

Oh My Most Precious Love,

Breathing in this Silence

Ever so quietly with me,

Breathless as the Morning Mist

That Sings her Ancient Lullaby to the slumbering Earth,

Your Spellbinding Gaze Yet closed in Tender Sleep,

Dreams Enchanting Your Wandering Thoughts

In this Hush where Perfection Lies Beside Me

And Beyond me into the Luster of Breaking Morn,

Entrance me in this Moment

To Ever Lie in Unspoken Wonder

Of your Absolute Perfection.

The Void – #InspirationalPoetry

.

Prisoner in this mind,

With fears and doubts rampantly running,

Screams echoing in the tumbling darkness

As I grope and claw for Light,

For Breath,

For the Hope I once held in my Hands.

Captive to a thousand harbingers of uncertainty,

Shaking and Trembling in the Pitch that Darkly Surrounds,

Devouring my Soul.

Asking,

Waiting,

Stubbornly refusing to Surrender to the harrowing blackness.

Faith Stands.

Faith Waits.

Faith Holds Her Fragile Breath and Stares into the Starless sky,

Seeing Only Light,

Luminous, Streaming, Sparkling Light,

In Gossamer Tangles and Silken Pools that Glimmer Radiantly,

Filling the Heart in the Barren Void.

.

Although it is not often easy, Faith, Belief, Determination are more often than not a Choice.  Something we must willingly and diligently decide upon each day. Whether we face the dimness of this world with a melancholic view and allow that darkness to consume us or we stand against the rising currents of anger, hatred, and violence to seek Light, Beauty and Truth is entirely up to us.  This verse puts this choice into lyrical reality and shows, even through the choices of the words and phrases I used, how the choice very often creates its own illumination and inspiration.

#5Star #EditorialReview for #DarkFey Breaking Into The Light

.

I was Delighted and Honoured this weekend by an unexpected, but thoroughly appreciated 5-Star Editorial Review of the third installment of my Epic YA Fantasy Trilogy, Dark Fey Breaking Into The Light.  Reader’s Favorite reviewer Rabia Tanveer had this to say:

Breaking Into The Light by Cynthia Morgan is the final novel in the Dark Fey series. I became familiar with the series when a friend shared the first novel in the series, The Reviled, with me. I remember falling in love with Gairynzvl, a Dark One, and Ayla, from the Fey of Light. The two of them could not be more different, yet destiny and curiosity brought them together. This ending to their story could not have been more perfect, especially when you think about Gairynzvl’s progress and how much he evolved.

We are introduced to this amazing universe where Gairynzvl and his Liberators are now working together to save the young ones from a life in the darkness and trying to keep them in the light. Working solely to protect these young ones in the way they hoped they were protected, Gairynzvl and his Liberators are making ancient prophecies come true, opening new grounds in a world where it is believed that light and dark cannot survive together. Now, everyone is fighting for peace and true happiness, but how can they achieve it? Can they get it by following what Gairynzvl is showing the world? Or is it hidden somewhere in their old ways?

What can I say about this novel? Cynthia Morgan is a magician; she weaves pictures with her words and ensures that the reader is immersed in the story from the get go. I am in awe of Gairynzvl’s development and how he has grown as a leader and a protector. He is no longer hiding in the shadows and the darkness; he is now out in the open and proud, and finally not afraid of the light. He has embraced his life, his purpose and his power as a man who thinks with his heart and mind together. I simply love him and Cynthia Morgan’s writing! Simply brilliant.

#FridayFantasy – Creating Positive Change with #EpicFantasy

A Fellow blogger and avid reader recently asked me about my Epic YA Fantasy Dark Fey, posing some thought -provoking questions that really got me thinking about the WHY behind the Fey.  It being Friday Fantasy day, I thought I’d share some of the insights I uncovered through our conversation…

Is it possible to draw attention to the plight of child soldiers by writing an Epic Young Adult Fantasy?

Can Fiction create any measure of Positive Change?

Perhaps. Inspiration doesn’t always come to fruition in reality, and Hope alone cannot make a difference, but sometimes we just have to Trust and Act.

This is precisely what I did with Dark Fey, my Epic YA Fantasy Trilogy that not only relates an entertaining story of magic and mystery, but touches on realities in our own world. Yes, the plight of child soldiers and the horrors they face is part of the basis for my series, because, although I love to write, I’ve always tried to instill some purpose to the creations my mind weaves.

Dark Fey The Reviled begins gently enough. It’s a story about a young shefey discovering who she is and how to incorporate her unique gifts into everyday life. Like most teens, she’s uncertain and, because she is inexperienced, she’s a bit fragile; nevertheless, through the course of the tale she finds an inner strength she doesn’t realize she possesses. It’s also about a young malefey who has endured tragedy in his life on an unparalleled scale. He has lived through the horrors of abduction, abuse, neglect and has been forced to commit terrible acts of violence. His life mirrors those of child soldiers who face very similar atrocities, not in the pages of a fictional story, but in the reality they must bear each day.

Dark Fey Standing in Shadows focuses more greatly on the growing friendships between characters and how those relationships build bonds strong enough to face previously unthinkable possibilities, but, as in real life, strong relationships are built upon foundations that have been tested. The story invites the reader to experience how disagreements are the doorway to understanding, and how trials that challenge can motivate decisions to create Positive Change. It also begins to reveal the ugly truth behind the accepted norm. Expressed through scenes that left me crying after I wrote them, readers start to understand what The Reviled (our child soldiers) have suffered and continue to endure.

Dark Fey Breaking Into The Light asks the questions, can we truly understand another’s misery without knowing the extent to which they suffer? Would we willingly risk our lives for someone without experiencing some measure of their pain, despair, or anger? Like any good fantasy, this final saga of the trilogy sets the stage with dramatic events that test boundaries and push characters to their limits. Readers learn what it’s like to be one of the Reviled through descriptions that are darker and more intense than either of the previous books, but with good reason. I hope to elicit a reaction in the reader similar to those the Fey of the Light experience by showing them firsthand what the Reviled (our child soldiers) have suffered. I also pose the most important concept of the trilogy: The only way the achieve Peace is by becoming Peace. Through this thought-provoking concept, I open the door to an unexpected and powerful conclusion.

Fantasy is an escape, to be sure, and it is often filled with mystery, magic, and mayhem, where romance blossoms hand in hand with desperation we can scare imagine, amidst violence that both shocks us and irrevocably draws us into the story.  Swords clash, dragons devour, lives are shattered, but inevitably the message of (most) fantasy tales is to Create Positive Change, against all odds and however possible.  Dark Fey is no different in that respect, and yet, hopefully, new and different enough to entice readers into the realms of Jyndari to discover the magic and mayhem for themselves.

Spinning Reason – #MeditativeThinking about #Poetry

.

Like the Blustering wind upon a barren plain

Or the windswept ocean, tossing and churning,

As the restless sea of green ebbs and flows

By the cascading breeze’s playful hand,

Through countless measures of space and time

This Willowy Effervescence of verbosity

That Sings in Pain and Wails in Pleasure

Fills the Essence of what makes me Who I Am;

The Poetess within the woman,

The Romantic within the doubter,

The Sensualist within the reticent,

With Passion that Demands representation

Through Flamboyance of phrase

And Delicate Gossamer Lilting words

Spinning Reason into Vivid Rhyme

That gives my Being Purpose

And Speaks of Ages now lying in the vast unknown

Once filled with All I

Aspire to Unveil

.

What Inspires us to write?  Why do words move us so passionately?  Is it something scientifically explainable; a chemical reaction or predisposition, or is it something more mysterious.  Spiritual, perhaps, or metaphysical in nature, words often stir the deepest parts of our psyche, connecting us, even unknowingly, with things we barely comprehend, crossing generations, spanning eons of time.  Is it the words, or is it the emotions and thoughts they provoke?  Can anyone truly say for sure?

Purest Paradise – #MeditativeThinking through #Poetry

.

Whispering Memory of All you Are

Speaking from the realms of Lavish Time,

Suspirations of forgotten Truth

Gently Singing in the Twilight Rhyme,

Harmonious Silence, Guiding along;

Unspoken echoes of an old Gaelic Song;

Lilt in Reveries to uplift my Heart,

Pull me from yesterday, Blending Reality Apart,

As shadows of Perpetuity  Flow,

The Deep scent of Purest Paradise

Renews Purpose through its Show.

.

There is so much Wisdom in the ways we have forgotten; so many truths we have overlooked in the pursuit of knowledge.  I believe in the benefits of modern science, of course I do; nevertheless, I also know in the depths of my being that there is so very much we’ve abandoned that was once and could be again so very healthful and useful.  Relics of the past teach us about ourselves, remind us of what we used to know as truth, and invite us to renew the fount of knowledge.

Do you hear the Rhyme of Twilight?  The Harmonious song of Silence as it Sings?

Found – #Poetry of #MeditativeThinking

.

Sweet as a laughing brook through the

River of a steaming day

Fulsome as pirouetting snow

Around a singing, horse-drawn sleigh

Delicious as the ripest berries

Celebrating flavour

Lush as Indigo moonlight

Glimmering Silver to ponder and savour

Life Sings

Spirit Sighs

Heartbeat Whispers

Dreams Fly

Symphony of Harmonious Sound

Ever Ringing

Ever Springing

With Blessings Waiting to be Found

In this world of rushing and instant gratification, it is very easy to overlook the Beauty evident all around us.  Yes, there is an equal amount that is not beautiful, to be sure, but every blossom, every lilting birdsong, every shimmering sunrise, and whispering breeze holds within it the simplest, most profound beauty, peace, and Jubilation.  One only needs to refocus for a few moments to discover the vast treasure trove scintillating all around.

This verse is an attempt to help the reader rediscover that focus, if only for the briefest moment.

This Time – #Musings on #Poetry

.

In this Time

Before Time

As Time unravels

Time;

This Sharing

Sharing what we Shared

Shares more than

Sharing;

Whispers Lingering

Lingering in Soft Whispers

Touching my Spirit

Whisperingly

As Time

Before this Time

Unravels my Time

Of Sharing

Whispers

.

So often we let ourselves fall into the well of Time, but most often, it seems, when we are alone, lost, lonely, in grief, or sorrow.  This well has slippery slopes, and often is a downward spiral where we can easily lose ourselves; living and reliving brief moments in time that turn into the downward spiral from which we cannot escape.  This place of whispers, shadows and uncertainty is a paradox within a paradox.  A place to which we run to hide and from which we eventually seek to run.

This Time is a verse about the well of Time and shares the conundrum of repetition and dichotomy into which we fall.

Life Keeps Changing

The currents of life ever shift and change their flow.  Sometimes those changes bring challenges, other times, Blessings, and even less often, both.  This is one of those times.

Challenging, because I am in the midst of a life altering new direction.  Blessings, because this new direction shall allow my Beloved and I to share our lives together.  As it is Romantic Tuesday, I thought it a fitting time to announce my happy news.

No, sorry, no wedding bells pealing….not just yet anyway, but certainly a joyful occasion nevertheless.  You see, over the next few weeks, I will be moving to the Washington DC area where my Dear One and I shall embark upon sharing our lives together.  A new challenge in more than one respect, but a Blessing to be absolutely sure!

This change also will require me to take on a new job, which I have been searching for diligently over the past several months.  Again, very challenging without a doubt, but another opportunity to be Blessed and to Be A Blessing in new situations, with new co-workers and new patients.

After a great deal of consideration, I have come to the realization that I am going to need to take some time away, not only from my blog, but from social media overall, in order to retain my sanity. (sanity is, of course, a relative term!)

Therefore, while this announcement is Happy, I am also sorry to report that BnV will be silent for some time.  How much time I cannot say precisely, but be assured, I shall return.  I will also be working on putting the finishing touches/edits on a project I have been working on for, literally, 20+ years.  It is a Jane Austin style, romantic drama period piece set in the 1820′-30’s with, currently, over 147,000 words!  More on this to come…..

So until life once again settles back into a routine, I shall wish you all the Best Blessings, Happiness and Peace …..as well as Challenges….that life has to offer
