For Moira Lovell, writing poetry is a private process. Until she feels a poem is finished, she shows it to no-one. And once it is completed to her satisfaction, she never goes back to rework it.

As well as writing poetry, Moira has written a number of Short Stories and plays. In 2000, she won the Olive Schreiner Award for Drama (Playwriting) for Bedtime Stories.

Lovell recently retired from The Wykenham-Collegiate Diocesan School for Girls in Pietermaritzburg, where she was Head of the English Department for many years.
