I’m 100% guilty of the same. I do think that in the early stages (first 3-5 years) of most businesses there is just a lot of grunt work to get done and you have to make it happen. That being said, I do think there’s a bit of romanticizing of the Puritan work ethic which probably generates very little societal value.

I hear you on the minutiae! I looked into it and got mixed answers from IF people. It seems that none of those foods will cause an insulin response. However, a guy that I follow named Greg O’Ghallagher says that ingesting fats will blunt growth hormone secretion. He had nothing to say about the potato starch.

My understanding is that the beneficial effects of fasting are not undercut by non-caloric food (raw potato starch is undigestible so effectively 0 calories) or pure fat (butter, coconut oil, fish oil).
That being said, I’m largely going from subjective experience. As long as i feel good and health markers are good, I try not to overthink the minutiae (though I often do anyway :))

Yeah- “money” is really just an agreement between people that is a placeholder for time, attention, effort, experience. Can’t eat that paper fiat currency. Can’t do anything physically useful with gold (unlike iron or lead) unless you are building semi-conductors. Having more money just means being able to command more “people power” to build a car or yacht for you, fly you somewhere by refining oil, studying and practicing for 20 years to get your medical diagnosis right….people.

i’ve been thinking a lot lately about the “other people are everything bit”
When you get down to it, there’s just not much left after the people and the work we get to do with them.
After being able to do cool work with cool people, much of life seems to leave pretty marginal returns.

Yea, generally seems to be true for me that if you’re on the fence and it’s anything longer than a 3 month commitment, it’s not worth taking it.
