As Old World Witches, we utilize elemental forces for magick and mystical significance of the natural world and its fauna and flora: Esoteric knowledge. Lore of healing. Protective herbs. Natural destructors. Energetic resonance of roots. And of course, the Moon.
The Moon is of crucial importance for the Old World Witch. The phases of the Moon and its cycle impact the potency of the spellwork and its successes.
Can rituals be performed during the "wrong" moon phase? Performing a ritual during the improper phase of the Moon will not lead to disastrous effects. Rather, it will hinder the fruition of the outcome. The Moon amplifies spellwork and works in harmony with the energies exerted by the Witch.
Keep in mind; the Old World Witch does not follow the exact terminology and specifications of modern astrologers and astronomers. We maintain the visual interpretation and energies of the Moon, therefore our spellwork is similarly aligned.
The times are listed to assist you in planning your rituals. Some things to keep in mind:
If you are unable to align your rituals with the date and time indicated, a good rule of thumb is to perform the spell the night before. For example, if you are planning to perform a spell for attracting financial prosperity into your life, but the Moon is Full during an inconvenient time (say, 10 am on a Tuesday while you're at work), it is advised you to perform the ritual the night before. As the Moon grows to a Full, so too will your access to the energies that are harmonizing the manifestation of your ritual.
The Witch's New Moon does not have an exact time. It reveals itself when the very first crescent of the Moon is visible. Based on your location on the planet, some will see the Witch's New Moon in the earlier part of the given date(s). Others will see it only towards the end. With some variations, the Witch's New Moon rises in the daytime before noon and becomes visible in the day sky. It will be most visible at sunset and usually sets well before midnight. The Witch's New Moon is the same percentage all over the world - both in the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. However, which way the tips of the Witch's New Moon point depend on the time, date, and your location on Earth. When you see the very first moon crescent in the sky, know that the Witch's Moon is upon you
It is extremely important to note that the Witch's New Moon is different from the Dark Moon! The New Moon of the Old World Witch is called the Witch's New Moon. It is when the very first crescent or sliver of the moon is visible. This is typically 2-3 nights after the Dark Moon. December 2021 Astrological Influences & Rituals
December 1st, 2021: Today, as Neptune stations direct, the haze of mental confusion begins to lift. If indecision and seeming aimlessness have been plaguing your life since June 2021, expect Neptune Direct to begin to cut through the haze.
In the next 1-2 weeks, expect to have a much better understanding of your current situation, where you want to be, and what you can do about it.
Harsh realities about love, especially old or long-term relationships, also come to light under this astrological event. You may find that your feelings about someone are not reciprocated, which of course, is an unpleasant reality to face.
At this point, you have two options:
Option 1: Cleanse away your heartbreak and move on.
Option 2: Love magick, of course—my personal favorite. Begin your love spells (such as the Come to Me / Reconciliation) as early as December 11th.
December 4th, 2021 11:43pm PST / 2:43am EST: Dark (Super)Moon in Sagittarius and total Solar Eclipse makes us rethink the dead-end road in one major part of our lives. Is there a path out of this situation? Eclipses open portals of awareness and change wherever they point to in our charts. This Dark Moon can rapidly clear the prickly brush and reveal a new path of possibilities.
The catch?
Convention and routine will no longer dominate this new path. Instead, outside-the-box thinking and innovation will be necessary. Examine which aspect of your life has the 'dead-end road syndrome.' Whose advice are you taking on what to do about it? Is it someone who is a prime example of that which you wish to experience yourself? Only follow the advice of people who walk the talk, not those who have become the smoldering ashes of failure. This is more important now than ever!
Tonight, roll a pinch of Wormwood and Agrimony onto a beeswax candle and release stagnancy from your living space and energy field. If you feel a strange presence around you or feel as though something (or someone) is draining you, do a Banishing Ritual to remove attachments and negative energies.
December 5th, 2021: The Witch's New Moon is when the very first crescent or sliver of the Moon is visible. This typically occurs 2-3 nights after the Dark Moon. The Witch's New Moon is the same percentage all over the world - both in the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. However, which way the tips of the Witch's New Moon point depend on the time, date, and your location on Earth. When you see the very first moon crescent in the sky, know that the Witch's Moon is upon you.
If you are in North America, you should be able to see the Witch's New Moon between 1pm - 5pm PST. Of course, this largely depends on cloud cover and sharp eyesight during daylight. If you do not see it on December 5th, you will surely see it on December 6th.
This Witch's New Moon is in Capricorn, which sparks the desire to make sense out of our here-and-now physical, mundane lives. This will be inspired by Neptune Direct from earlier in the month and will have the same underlying theme.
This transit often inspires and fuels the determination to move - whether within the same city or across the country. If something physical is hindering your relocation, try the Dispel & Conquer Ritual. It has been successfully used for all matters of real estate, rentals, offices, etc.
December 10th, 2021: First Quarter Moon in Pisces compels us to take action, reminds us of our power, and opens our eyes to endless possibilities.
Expect to be extra motivated today! New ideas - sometimes quite strange ideas - will be revealed today. Something will suddenly click.
The future looks quite optimistic, wouldn't you say? Do your best to channel these energies and hold on to them for as long as possible. It is time to open pathways to new experiences.
December 13th, 2021: Mercury enters Capricorn. Don't expect many heartfelt conversations this Christmas. People will want to discuss their version of the "facts" - regardless of whether they are in the company of like-minded individuals or not. After being on the receiving end of questionable speculations and conversations, burn some rosemary around yourself to (re)stabilize your energies.
December 18th, 2021 8:25pm PST / 11:25pm EST: Full Moon in Gemini. The Moon rules our emotions, inner dialogue, and deeply held beliefs. Under this Full Moon in Gemini influence, emotions can be changed (or manipulated) quite easily. Both through mundane tactics, as well as through magick:
To make a lover think of you and only you, do the Always On Their Mind spell tonight. Tip: Add a pinch of Oracle Ritual Blend harness more lunar energies - and make sure to do this spell when you are certain your lover is in a deep sleep, which is typically 3am. To change a person's mind or influence their actions, perform the Do My Bidding ritual.If someone owes you money (a person, insurance settlement, divorce, etc.), do the Pay Me Now ritual to overpower their wallet.One last thing to mention - under this astrological influence, people will have an unstoppable urge to expose the skeletons in their closet. To avoid being one of those people, wear black onyx or lava stones today. Ideally as a necklace. Do not wear pearls or mother of pearl jewelry.
December 19th, 2021: Every 19 months, Venus goes retrograde and forces us to deal with the emotional baggage of low self-worth, failed romance, and the way we earn a living. Venus Retrograde exemplifies inner-honesty, awareness, and vulnerability. As we learn to become honest with ourselves, the world around us responds in kind.
Venus Retrograde impacts how we perceive our talents and, even more so, how we earn a living from those talents. This is an excellent time to shine a bright light on self-improvement and realign with who you want to be and what you want to do.
If you can, avoid making big decisions about your relationship or even your job until after January 30th. Venus Retrograde may "artificially" intensify any feelings of discontent.
If dating someone new, don't commit quite yet. A common side effect is becoming overly attached to quick-flings or dead-end relationships. This especially applies to those whose Venus is ruled by a fire sign!
December 21st, 2021: On the Winter Solstice, we celebrate light and honor the wisdom of the shadows. In connecting with the natural world in a way that honors the sacred immanence in all things, we establish a resonance with the seasons.
Notice the similarities between the changes you see in nature and the changes you see within yourself. An inner knowing that the 'dark nights of the soul' you experienced in recent months will soon be a fading memory. The Sun has passed its lowest point, and light will soon return - for that is the natural law.
December 21st, 2021: The Sun enters Capricorn and puts a focus on career, practicality, and mundane life. With Venus still in retrograde, the next 28 days may be a bit more tedious as you may begin to question your career path. However, one very positive aspect of this solar influence is that it's ideal for asking for a raise at work, negotiating benefits/salary, or handling most other financial dealings. Take a look at the Wise Woman Ritual and start it as early as January 10th. If it's an urgent matter, you may begin the Wise Woman Ritual immediately.
December 26th, 2021: Last Quarter Moon in Libra can heighten anxiety and create the illusion of an hourglass on its last grain of sand. With the year 2021 soon drawing to a close, the Moon in Libra inspires us to spend close time with family - or the people we choose to call family. Homelife matters most today and for the next 72 hours.
New Year Influences
While we entered the year 2021 under a near-Full Moon, we will be entering 2022 under a near-Dark Moon with very strong Capricorn influences. The year ahead will be focused on hard work - not necessarily out of necessity, but because there will be much to (re)build. Our day-to-day physical life will change, as will many other mundane areas of our lives.
With 2022 being the year of the Tiger (as of February 1st), this will be an excellent year to create new avenues of income, advance on current career paths, and greatly prosper!

Ahhh... the season of the Witch is now upon us. Wouldn't you agree that something always feels different within the 8 days between the Autumn Equinox and October 1st? A sudden shift. A distinctive new energetic current. A spirit of return.
And so, we begin.
October 1st, 2021: We are now at a half-point point between the Last Quarter Moon and the Dark Moon. As of today, energy will begin to contract, and anxiety may heighten. It may feel as though time is slipping away, yet your to-do list is only growing.
Tonight's Waning Crescent in Leo will suddenly confront your perceptions of self-worth. People tend to feel underappreciated on this day. Make it a point to compliment, thank, and recognize those around you - especially those who serve you. Nurses, baristas, gas station attendants - whoever you come into contact with today. It will mean more to them than you will ever know.
October 6th, 2021, Dark Moon (4:05am PST / 7:05am EST): As the Moon disappears from the autumn night sky, we now experience the Dark Moon in Libra. Tonight, most will question their place on this Earth, their relationships, and how they earn a living. Knowing perfectly well who reads my newsletters and forecasts (hello there!), I am perfectly aware that you are an introspective soul (yes, you!), and the energies of this Dark Moon will likely be all too familiar.
Alternatively, extroverts and those who rarely delve into the dark nights of the soul, may be hit especially hard by this Dark Moon's influence. Be gentle with loved ones, especially romantic partners.
Let's discuss October's Dark Moon Rituals:
If someone (living or not) has thrown something nasty your way, a Break & Reverse Ritual will take care of that. October 6th (and the late-night hours of November 5th!) will be exceptionally powerful for disentangling and banishing generational curses. Complicated conditions can be worked out and solved under this astrological transit. Additionally, tonight's Dark Moon Libra lunar energies will wonderfully assist with cutting ties or eliminating all manners of relationships - whether romantic or otherwise. Respect yourself enough to banish and walk away from the situations, conditions and people that do nothing but destroy you.
October 6th, 2021: After 5 months in retrograde, Pluto turns direct! This year, Pluto retrograded on April 27th, which began to peel away and expose past emotional wounds and the shadow sides of the psyche. Secrets are often revealed (or rather awkwardly exposed) within 48 hours of Pluto Direct. If you have been withholding information, you better prepare and quickly come up with an explanation or an excuse. Your secrets may suddenly come to light in the most unexpected of ways. You've been warned.
October 8th, 2021, Witch's New Moon: As soon as you see the very first sliver of the Moon, know that is the Witch's New Moon is upon you. That will be the ideal time to begin new ventures, plant new seeds of manifestation, and draw new love into your life.
If repetitive or challenging roadblocks are preventing you from accomplishing a desired goal, perform the Dispel & Conquer Ritual preferably today - or, if not possible, within the upcoming week.
Short(ish) story about the Dispel & Conquer Ritual: A couple of years ago, I needed to expand the Old World Witchcraft work(craft)shop and wanted to remain in a specific district of Northwest Portland. Commercial leases were devastatingly in short supply, and the vast majority of spaces would not be able to accommodate or allow our type of business. Not necessarily due to discrimination (though that has been a problem in the past), but because our craftshop emits an incredibly strong, wall-permeating, clothes-and-hair clinging aroma. With hundreds of pounds of herbs, roots, resins, smudges and beeswax going in and out of our craftshop, any place where craft Old World Witchcraft goods inevitably becomes shockingly fragrant. I, of course, absolutely love it. I wouldn't want it any other way. Unfortunately, many landlords do not share my enjoyment of herbal aroma extremes... Nor do they want a "strange" Witchcraft business potentially scaring away other possible tenants. For months I looked for commercial leases. Every single day I was combing through Craigslist and local office-for-rent sites. And every single time, I was either 10th in line waiting to see the space (and inevitably not even be able to put in an offer), or, due to the nature of my business and what we create, my applications were repeatedly rejected. Then, in a moment of despair, (re)created a spell based on an energy permeation method I had learned from my dear friend, who is an Estonian occultist/magus. With some ritual trial and error (yes, I often troubleshoot rituals), the perfect craftshop space presented itself within two weeks. Here's how it happened. I stopped for a cup of coffee, sat down, and looked over my shoulder. To my surprise, a man was taping a 'for lease' sign on the office space across the way. Needless to say, I knew that the spell had worked. This space was being rented at my ideal price point, and it was in the most beautiful part of Northwest Portland. My business-neighbors were very kind and welcoming - the bakery next door even dropped off some wonderful brownies. The new craftshop had very large windows, large skylights, and even better, the entire space was solid concrete! No one, and I mean no one, could possibly be able to smell the extremely potent herbal aroma pervading from our craftshop. This same Dispel & Conquer Ritual is one that I return to time and time again. And so, when someone comes to me with similar difficulties of persistent shortages or blockages, the Dispel & Conquer Ritual is what I always give them. And I am always amazed by how quickly the emitted energies of this ritual can powerfully - and quickly! - conquer just about any problem.
Okay, okay, back to October...
October 11th, 2021: Saturn Retrograde comes to an end and stations direct. While the post-shadow of Saturn Retrograde will be with us until mid-January, as you can now expect productivity to rapidly increase, while procrastination will rapidly decrease.
This is excellent news for those who have been feeling in a rut the last few months! Think back to the projects you started but did not complete in April or May. It is time to revisit that which you had abandoned. You will now have the energy. You will now have the time. And if you need an extra boost or a headstart, the Fearless Determination Ritual will get you right back on track.
October 13th, 2021: The First Quarter Moon compels us to take action and reminds us of our power. If wanting to arouse romantic interest and rapidly increase (or open) communication with a love interest, now is an excellent time to do the Always on Their Mind Ritual. Rituals for influence and control are also particularly powerful when started tonight.
October 18th, 2021: Mercury retrograde comes to an end! As does Jupiter Retrograde. Marvellous day, indeed! In the days to come, communication, bizarre electrical maladies (has your phone been having seizures like mine?), and travel disruptions will come to an end. So sit back and take a deep breath. Shake it all out.
And then maybe pour yourself a glass of prosecco... You earned it. The last couple of months were tough!
October 20th, 2021, 7:56am PST / 10:56am EST: The first Full Moon of autumn is in the determined sign of Aries. And with all these retrogrades ending earlier in the week, now is the time to harness the energies that surround you and dwell within you. Nothing, and no one, can stop you now. The assertive Aries energy and the magnetism of this Full Moon will power through anything you put in front of it.
Let's discuss October's Full Moon Ritual: On most Aries Full Moon's, when the Moon is out, and the crickets sing, I like to do what I call the Aries Candle Ritual: I pick up a braided candle and head outdoors. Depending on where I am (I split my time between the US and Prague), I either take a walk in my neighbourhood or the moonlit forest outside my door. As I walk, I gently and inconspicuously roll the candle braid between the palms of my hands. I mentally, emotionally, and energetically emit gratitude for all that I have, all that I (get to) do, and all that I am open to now welcome into my life and receive. Within 5-10 minutes, the candle braid is inaudibly buzzing with intensity and power. Upon returning home, I quickly and firmly roll it in equal parts Sacred Power Ritual Blend and the Viking Ritual Blend (just about 1/3-1/2 teaspoon of each - use sparingly). I then untwist and peel apart about 1/2 inch of the candle legs, creating a self-contained "candleholder" base. I place the Aries Full Moon Candle on a tea saucer, I exclaim precisely what I am opening myself to and now bringing forth into my life, and then I light the candle. Holding my hands near the exterior of the flame, allowing my body to be the complete circuit. The energy passes from the candle, through my body and into the ethers. The air, and sometimes even the humidity, in the room becomes thick - similar to the energy and smell of rainfall when thunder is near. Once the candle extinguishes in its own puddle of wax and completely cools, I place the remnant "nugget" on my office desk or nightstand. Sometimes even put it in my carry-on bag. It depends entirely on what my Aries Full Moon Candle was created for; e.g. what I am trying to draw into my life, if I need wisdom, protection, courage, etc.. Typically I hold on to these remnants for 2-3 months at a time. When they no longer "buzz" for me, I return nature's bounty and bury the remnants on my property or an undisturbed place in the forest. Note: Only use pure beeswax for all rituals! Never, ever use paraffin /petroleum-derived products - they are highly processed, wreak havoc on the Earth, holds no real energy and cannot be safely (ritually) disposed. Avoid paraffin at all costs!
October 22nd, 2021: Sun enters Scorpio and (almost) instantly influences us to get more in touch with our mystical. The lifeforce withdraws from the world of mundane activity and dives deep into the underworld of the psyche.
Issues surrounding control and power struggles may arise during the next three weeks. Something to watch out for: do not dwell on other peoples drama or the 'who is doing what' with their lives. Gossip suddenly becomes a lot more enjoyable under this transit. Don't give into it. Disengage, don't give your power away. Only focus on yourself.
Let's discuss rituals. Scorpio energies seamlessly (almost frighteningly so) can crawl into people's emotions, permeate their subconscious minds, and swiftly plant seeds that quickly sprout into forests. Keep in mind; this energy mostly only impacts romance and sex. Plan to begin your love spells, especially sex magick, on November 12th.
Why November 12th? Sun will still be in Scorpio, and the Moon will be at or past the First Quarter phase. That will be the ideal time for love spells (including sex magick), devotion rituals, etc. Start planning now!
October 31st - November 2nd, 2021: You may call it Samhain, Halloween, All Hallow's Eve, Witches New Year, All Souls Day, etc.. It is of my favourite times of the year. Despite this, with English being my second language, I hold no preference for a particular name for this day. In my mind, it needs no name - it needs no introduction.
I am always eager to reconnect with my ancestors. During this time of year (in the Northern Hemisphere), it is easier to do so.
With the thinning of the veil, it is an excellent time to (re)establish communication with your ancestors to ask for guidance, protection, and if it applies to you, ask for fertility. In most cases, ancestors are also eager to answer very specific questions. See Ancestral Spirit Communication Ritual for more information and instructions.
Between October 31st and November 2nd, I recommend crafting an offering altar for the deceased. Photographs, candles, food/drink offerings, meditation (or prayer). In addition to the offering altar, I always set a place for my ancestors at the dining room table. I am Eastern European and of deep rooted-in-the-Earth Slavic ancestry. I leave a small glass of vodka, bread, fermented vegetables, something sweet, and a small plate of food of whatever I am cooking that evening.

September 2021 Astrological Influences & Ritual Recommendations

Autumn is almost here. Can you feel it? Magick is in the air...
And so we begin.
September 6th, 2021 5:51pm PST / 8:51pm ETS / September 7th, 1:51am UTC: As the moon disappears from the night sky, we experience the Dark Moon in Virgo. It is a time for stillness, contemplation, and banishment. The Virgo Dark Moon turns a spotlight on the physical body and the perception of chaos. Virgo energies will stretch and exaggerate all possible scenarios to any situation. Before jumping to conclusions on this day - and for the next 48 hours - try to think objectively about the situation at hand. Perhaps things aren't quite as bad as they seem to be. Perhaps people aren't actually trying to hurt you as you. Perhaps, just perhaps, the problem will quickly resolve itself.

Earth and Water signs will feel a strong desire to clean the home and discard all that is worn out. If you want a simple and nearly smokeless ritual to cleanse your home, I suggest using a combination of Agrimony Powder and Wormwood Powder to illuminate and cleanse (now available as a set) . This nearly smokeless method of cleansing will be very satisfying under the influences of the Virgo Dark Moon. Take one Ritual Candle and warm it by rolling between the palms of your hands. September 6th, 2021: Mercury pre-shadow begins. Time to review upcoming important dates and urgent tasks. Projects may begin to stall as soon as today. Double-check travel itineraries, financial paperwork, due dates, inventory levels, and anything that may be critical for your job.

Notice the similarities between the changes you see in nature and within yourself—the shedding of old thought patterns, old habits, and old cycles. The Equinox roots us in our small place in this world. Our own microcosm. The subtle energetic undercurrents of our physical world are shifting—the sudden desire to release old habits and thoughts. August 2021 Astrological Influences & Ritual Recommendations
Hello dear friends and fellow Witches, let me start by saying I apologize that this post is three days late. I am currently retreating from the modern world here in a 13th-century countryside village on the outskirts of Prague. The spirits in the dark forest, breathtaking medieval surroundings, and the apparitions of the departed certainly make one lose track of days. And so, we begin...
August 8th, 2021 6:50 am PST / 9:50 am EST: Dark Moon in Leo brings into question matters of affiliation by association. Starting tonight and for the remainder of this Moon cycle, those who drag you down (rather than lift you up!) will begin to depart from your life. Recognize the friends, lovers, and associates whose energy is draining or depressive. Is your well-being diminished as a result of spending time with certain people? Do you give much more than you take? It may be time to cut ties. The Leo Dark Moon will cast an unusual shadow on just about everyone in your life. Different dimensions and energetic instability (or destructive influences) of others will be impossible to ignore. Generally speaking, Fire and Earth signs will be inspired to react hastily under this transit; similar to ripping off a bandaid.

This Friend or Foe ritual is a Dark Moon divination method that reveals a person's true intentions.
You will need:
Slippery Elm PowderOracle Ritual BlendOne beeswax Ritual CandlePhotograph of the person in questionPenLighter/matchesSteady and leveled fireproof surface. Optional: pendulum or tarot cards.On the back of the photograph, write the person's name, date of birth, and an inquisitive statement, such as:
"{name} are you friend or foe?""{name} are you working against me, or are you working with me?""{name} are you draining me, or are you empowering me?""{name} are you holding me back or helping me forward?"
Lightly draw a quadrant (four equal size squares) from the center of the photo. Then, within each square, write the following:
Square 1: I am working against youSquare 2: I mean no harmSquare 3: Love and trustSquare 4: Careless
Roll a single beeswax ritual candle on the photo. Beeswax absorbs and expands energy, which will work by picking up the person's energy and conveying to you the information.
Next, hold the candle at a 45-degree angle over the photograph and dust the candle with approximately 1/4 teaspoon of Oracle Ritual Blend and 1/4 teaspoon of Slippery Elm Powder. Allow the excess to fall onto the photo. Place the dusted candle back on the photograph and, with firm pressure, continue rolling the candle in the herbs on top of the photo.
Now, begin reciting and repeating your inquisitive statement.
Hold and light the candle at a 45-degree candle. Drip 4-5 drops of wax directly in the center of the quadrant. Quickly and firmly stick the base of the candle into the pool of wax. Hold firmly for 10 seconds until the pool of wax cools and firms. The candle will remain upright without any assistance.
At this point, you may choose to chant your mantra, sit quietly in meditation, or use your pendulum or tarot cards to ask further questions. When using tarot cards, a primary theme becomes immediately apparent. The answers or primary theme to your questions will be answered or confirmed once the candle completes its burn.
Allow the candle to complete its burn and observe what occurs:
• If the flame catches the photo on fire, allow the flame to consume it. It is a sign that there is some malicious behavior behind your back.• If the flame extinguishes itself before catching the photo on fire, it is usually a sign that the person means no harm.
Once the wax cool, observe the pattern of the remaining wax puddle or the burn marks. Which quadrant has the most wax? Which quadrant has a burn or a hole? If the person means no harm, the wax will be primarily in the associated quadrant. Similarly, it may be a combination of two.
Remnant Disposal:

Depending on where you are in the world, you may not see the Witch's New Moon until August 11th. The moment you see the first crescent of the Moon, know that the Witch's New Moon is upon you.
The steady build of lunar energy on and after the Witch's New Moon is ideal for starting a series of rituals that attract love, financial success, and manifestation.
This Witch's New Moon is in the sign of Virgo, which can help you maneuver your way out of a complicated or seemingly hopeless situation involving finances and life progression. As a result, the Dispel & Conquer ritual will be particularly potent from August 10th-11th.
August 15th, 2021: First Quarter Moon in Scorpio tends to make people jump to conclusions or make irrational choices. Sexual energy rapidly peaks for the next 48 hours. Flirty exchanges with strangers will lead to romantic encounters, though they will often be short-lived. Generally speaking, Fire signs and Water signs will feel this sexual Scorpio lunar influence more than most. Air signs will be more prone to making irrational choices or misinterpreting interactions.
Most types of sex magick, particularly Song of the Siren rituals to attract a specific lover, will be quite potent if started on August 15th or 16th.
Avoid starting devotion or marriage rituals under this lunar influence.
August 17th, 2021: Moon is at perigee (closest to the Earth) and renews a sense of alignment. Excellent day for intimate conversations. Productive day for therapy and emotional healing.
Lunar energies allow emotions, thoughts, and transmitted forces to permeate auric fields easily and readily. Particularly potent day for love spells such as the Devotion Ritual, Come to Me Ritual, and Always on Their Mind Ritual.
August 19th, 2021: Although Uranus Retrograde is rarely noticed (unlike Mercury or Venus Retrograde!), it is always worthwhile to discuss. Every year Uranus is in retrograde for 155 days and will continue until January 18th, 2022. Uranus is an 'outer' planet and is observed in a slower motion. Uranus influences chaos, both when in retrograde as well as when direct. It balks at traditions and inspires innovative thinking.
During the five months that Uranus is in retrograde, we reexamine the actions that have brought us to this point. What we thought was possibly innovative may turn out to be counterproductive - or even destructive. It is quite common for people to drop unprofitable business ideas and dead-end careers (especially diplomas for dead-end careers).
August 22nd, 2021: This Full Moon in Aquarius tends to be quite emotional and somewhat disconnected for most. As the Sun transitions out of the charismatic Leo and sways towards the temperamental Aquarius, a shift occurs that may lead to inner conflict. The feeling of the 'best days are now behind us' is merely an illusion and will subside by August 26th, when the Moon in Aries will lift up our chin and increase motivation.
This is a second of two consecutive Aquarius Full Moon's, with the first being in July. The illusions of black and white, stay or go, good vs. evil, are inescapable. Step back from these illusions, even if just for tonight. Instead, explore your inner shades of gray and observe your moonlit shadow.
Recommended Ritual
For this month's Full Moon, I recommend this simple realignment ritual to stabilize and recourse the energies around your auric field and your home. Doing so will help dispel any internal chaos and quickly shift energies to a place of power, personal control, and, most importantly, inner peace.
You will need:
Ritual Candle BraidSacred Power Ritual BlendTiger's Eye Ritual BlendMatches/lighterA clean and firm surface, such as a small cutting board. Tea saucer or any small dish.Ideally, this realignment ritual is best when looking directly at the Moon through a window or skylight. Hold the candle braid in your hands while gazing at the Moon. Gently roll the candle between the palms of your hands. Feel the magnetism of the Moon reach out to you while you let down your emotional guard. Similar to an ocean tide, sense your vibration and energies flow in and out—deep breath in, deep breath out. The Moon takes, and then she gives back. In and out...
Place the Candle Braid on your surface area and dust the candle with approximately 1/2 teaspoon each of the Sacred Power Ritual Blend and the Tiger's Eye Ritual Blend. Firmly roll the Candle Braid on your surface area to evenly distribute and adhere to the Ritual Blends.
The legs of the candles should then be untwisted for the last 1/2 to 1 inch of the candle. Spread each of the legs to 4 opposing sides, forming a self-contained base, and place on top of the tea saucer.
Light the Candle Braid and stare at the space just above the flame. Allow your gaze to soften and become out of focus. Place your hands on your ritual surface with the candle in the center, palm facing towards the candle.Without touching the candle on either side, move your hands in a circular motion towards yourself. Feel the energy of the candle and the Full Moon creating a vortex of energy in your palms. Now move the hands over the space of about 10-14 inches over your head. Continue the circular movement of both hands over your head. You will soon feel the energy vortex dissipate. Place the hands back to the candle and repeat the steps described above to create a secondary energy vortex. This time, place the hands in the auric field just below your feet. You will need to sit or lay for this.Once the lower energy vortex has dissipated, return the hands to the candle.
Breathe deeply. Now pick up the tea saucer and begin moving it around your home, similar to a smudge bundle. Allow the light to (safely) reflect from every reflective surface, window, and door. Pay close attention to your headboard and footboard. If possible, place the candle under the light of the Full Moon to continue burning.
Once the candle self-extinguishes in its own puddle of wax, bury the remnants in your backyard or inside the pot of a healthy plant.
August 22nd, 2021: Sun enters Virgo and practicality reigns supreme. The desire for progress and achievement is brought back into the spotlight. Similar to the Witch's New Moon earlier this month, the Virgo solar energies can drastically help unravel complex situations. Loopholes will be found, bridges will be crossed, missing puzzle pieces will be uncovered.
August 29th, 2021: With the Moon at apogee (farthest from the Earth), distractions and the seeming inability to focus may be encountered. Put a piece of Black Onyx in your pocket and carry it with you throughout the day. Burn Wormwood and Agrimony to help stabilize energy. Focus on the 3 feet above your head, 3 feet below the soles of your feet (yes, you will need to lay or sit for this), and the base of your spine. If flexible, try to smudge your shoulder blades as well.

July holds unrivaled opportunities for abundance, beauty, and confidence. Sit back and relax. A very pleasant, healing, and generally jovial month is ahead.
July 1st, 2021: Last Quarter Moon in Aries challenges our daily routines and mundanity. We consciously try to seek a source (or two!) that will help ignite motivation and bring back a zest for life. Although the brilliant dawn of motivation may not occur for you for a few more days, now is an excellent time to create a list of what needs to change. Contemplate what habits or cycles must come to an end. Perhaps you are coming upon negative thoughts and worry about the manifestation of such undesired events. Tonight, and the following eight nights, is ideal for blocking (essentially banishing) streams of energies that will lead to undesired circumstances.
July 7th, 2021: Mercury Retrograde post-shadow ends, which puts an end to Mercury Retrograde's chaotic effect on travel, communication, technology, and the legal system. If you have been inundated with such troubles, now is a good time to burn a Rosemary Smudge around your home. This will help stabilize lingering chaotic energies and create a peaceful atmosphere to welcome a renewed (and much needed) sense of predictability, patience, and tranquility.
For a near-smokeless variation of this, you may dust a single beeswax Ritual Candle with a combination of Blossom Ritual Blend and Verbena Powder. I know this combination may sound strange, but trust me on this; the energetic properties and the result of combining these two is very similar to the Rosemary Smudge. Walk around your home and allow the light of the candle to (safely) reach all corners of the house. Pay special attention to windows, doors, and all reflective surfaces. Ten to fifteen minutes later, open all windows to release stagnant energies.

Childhood nostalgia and dramatized memories of broken hearts will be prevalent. The perfect night to stay home and cook a comforting meal. Be easy on yourself and those around you.
The Dark Moon is a time for stillness, contemplation, and banishment. We are more aware than ever that we must transition out of our old ways of being. We ripen. We mature. We are more confident with ourselves and the world around us. We know what we want. And just as important, we know exactly what it is we don't want. We let go of procrastination. We let go of fear. We let go of the judgments from others. And most importantly, we let go of all that no longer serves us.

Scatter the ashes of the Juniper Smudge outside your back door. If a back door is not present, scatter outside back windows.
July 11-12th, 2021: Witch's New Moon is an approximate 28-hour window of time. With some variations, the Witch's New Moon rises before noon, will be most visible at sunset, and sets well before midnight. The moment you see the first crescent of the Moon, know that the Witch's New Moon is upon you.
With the Witch's New Moon in Leo and Mercury in Cancer, this is the ideal time for targeted love spells or to persuade an authority figure in your favor.
July 17th, 2021: First Quarter Moon in Libra inspires beauty and comfort. Perfect day for anything involving beautification. Generally, I do not like to use the word 'lucky', but this day will be 'lucky' for all hair and skin procedures. If possible, schedule your haircut for this day - especially if color services are needed. Opportune day for dermatological services or plastic surgery.
The First Quarter Moon compels us to take action and reminds us of our power. If waiting/wanting to hear from a romantic interest, now is an excellent time to perform the communication rituals for lovers. Rituals for influence and control are also very potent when started tonight.
July 22nd, 2021: Sun enters Leo, and jovial energies fill the air. People tend to be more generous during this transit (lasting through August 20th), and people also tend to overspend on luxury items. If you are selling your home, you are in luck!

July 23rd, 2021, 7:37 PM PST /10:37 PM EST/ July 24th 3:37AM UTC: The Full Moon in Aquarius will loop back to the Dark Moon of February 11th, 2021 to indicate a completed cycle. What was happening in your life in February? One cycle ended, another one swiftly began. Think of this point as the culmination of that cycle. If the February project or goal has not succeeded, now is the time to consider taking a new path. Under the influences of this Full Moon, long-lost friends and lovers from the past have a tendency to suddenly reappear. Many will discover that their life path and their desires have drastically changed since the February 11th, 2021 Dark Moon. A shift occurred. A new cycle began. In addition to getting some fresh air and sunshine, I like to use Blossom Ritual Blend to help ease and lift any oppressive emotions. Although the Blossom Ritual Blend is typically utilized to welcome a new lover, it is also excellent for lifting bouts of sadness, getting out of emotional and mental ruts while renewing a more positive sense of self.
Instructions: Pick up one Ritual Candle and warm it by rolling it between the palms of your hands. Once the candle is warm, dust the candle with approximately 1/2 teaspoon of the Blossom Ritual Blend, allowing the excess to fall onto a flat surface. Press and roll the candle into the fallen herbs. Light the candle and hold it in your hands for a couple of minutes. The mellow scent of flowers will fill the air. Position the lit Ritual Candle at a 45-degree angle directly over a fireproof surface (a small plate will do). Drip about 3-4 drops of wax and stick the base of the candle directly into the pool of wax. Firmly hold the candle in the pool of wax for about 5 seconds until the center hardens, and the candle is standing upright without any assistance. Breathe deeply and gaze at the exteriors of the flame. Allow your eyesight to soften and become out of focus. Feel the resonance of gentle energies reverberate from the flame. Next, slowly turn your body clockwise in front of the candle. You are consciously drawing in and accepting a stream of the emanating soothing energies. While facing away from the candle, pay extra attention to your spine and shoulder blades, as that is where we carry a great deal of self-induced oppression. When returning to face the candle, position your hands on the sides of the candle, palms up. Close your eyes and visualize a dawn-tinted veil forming around you. When the candle burns down and self-extinguishes, bury the wax remnants in your backyard or at the base of a healthy houseplant.
June 8th, 2021: With the Moon at apogee (farthest from the Earth), distractions and the seeming inability to focus may be encountered. Put a piece of Black Onyx in your pocket and carry it with you throughout the day. Burn Palo Santo to help stabilize energy. Focus on the 3 feet above your head, 3 feet below the soles of your feet (yes, you will need to lay or sit for this), and the base of your spine. If flexible, try to smudge your shoulder blades as well.
June 10th, 2021 3:52am PST / 6:52am EST: The Dark Moon and Annular Solar Eclipse is when the Moon is a bit farther from Earth than average, and as it passes between the Earth and the Sun, a prominent 'Ring of Fire' encircles the Moon. This magnificent occurrence is visible from northern parts of Europe, Greenland, and northern Canada. Weather permitting, those in New England may see a partial eclipse.
Unusual ideas and desires are born under this influence - as is the desire to talk about them. Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) will deeply yearn for balance between their mental (or spiritual) world and the physical reality that they 'play on tv'.

Notice the similarities between the changes you see in nature and within yourself. The desire to flourish in a new environment. To be free of imposed restrictions and limitations. The sudden motivation to work for and receive the most out of life.
But at this moment, during the longest, most light-filled day of the year, we must not forget the balance of life and death and the continuous cycle of rebirth. In the coming days, sunlight will begin to wane as the dark of night grows.
Our neighbors in the Southern Hemisphere are celebrating the start of their winter. As crops slowly die and winter takes over, the cycle of life is now dormant. At rest. Silently healing. Patiently awaiting its time of rebirth.

May 2021 Astrological Influences & Ritual Recommendations
We welcome May with the Gaelic celebration of Beltane, which marks the beginning of Mother Earth entering a new cycle of growth, fertility, and abundance. Although I do not practice or observe any Pagan or Wiccan/New Age holidays or rites, I do honor this blessed day by creating an abundant ritual altar of candles and flowers.
May 3rd, 2021: Last Quarter Moon in Aquarius will bring a strong desire for solitude. Sensitives and those developing their third eye will feel overloaded with psychic messages. Anxiety often heightens during this time. Excellent time to physically and spiritually cleanse the home. The combination of Agrimony Powder and Wormwood Powder illuminates and cleanses all surroundings. Even the most eccentric and visionary personalities will suddenly feel the need to ground and get their mundane tasks in order. As with all Dark Moons, this is an excellent time for banishing rituals and cutting ties.
Put the energies of Dark Moon in Taurus to use if wanting to change your physical, feet-on-the-ground situation. The Full Moon will be in the sign of Sagittarius. It allows us to think creatively about our career, our place in the world, and how to best use this short time we have left on Earth. Desires to change occupations and/or move will be amplified. If possible, keep yourself buckled to your current situation until at least after the Witch's New Moon of July 12th.
The May 26th Full Moon is also known as the Blood Supermoon. Despite the ominous name, the Blood Moon gets its name from the reddish-orange glow the Moon takes on during an eclipse. On this brightly lit night, the Full Moon will be closest to the Earth and look more prominent in the sky. This makes it known as the Blood Supermoon Eclipse. The Full Moon in May is known as the Flower Moon. Other names include the Corn Planting Moon, the Milk Moon, and the Hare Moon.
If you are in Australia or New Zealand, you will witness roughly 14 minutes of a Total Lunar Eclipse. Those in the western United States and Southeast Asia will still be able to enjoy this phenomenon, though the entire eclipse will no be visible.
On a personal note, I find eclipses to be energetically draining. With the strong exception of the Sacred Full Moon Ritual, I withhold rituals for a later date, especially if these rituals require very specific outcomes.
Enjoy this evening; take it easy on yourself. Burn a Rosemary Smudge around your home. Smudge your physical and non-physical body, which includes the 3 feet below your feet' soles (you will need to sit or lay) and the 3 feet above your head. Scatter the ashes under the glow of the Full Moon.
