New Book Look

I am currently in the process of reformatting the interior of my books and revamping my book covers to make them look more like a series. Not only that, I’m also about to ditch my publisher and go solo, so I wanted a fresh start with a  new designer.  Love the direction we are going.

A Photo Journey Through Seattle

As I mentioned in my last post, I visited my aunt up in Washington State a couple years ago. While we were there we visited many highlights in Seattle including: Poulsboro Marine Center, Bremerton, The Glass Museum, The Woodland Zoo, The Seattle Aquarium, The Original Starbucks, and Pike’s Public Market. This is my photo journey through Seattle and its surrounding areas:

19 Self-editing Tips

After finishing the final rough draft (yeah, sure) and before emailing it to an editor, I wanted it as clean possible. I searched through a wide collection of self-editing books like these:

The Novel Writer’s Toolkit by Bob Mayer

Self-editing for Fiction Writers by Renni Browne

The Marshall Plan for Novel Writing by Evan Marshall

…and came up with a list of fixes that I felt would not only clean up grammar and editing, but the voice and pacing that seemed to bog my story down. Here are ideas you might like:

As y’all know I do a ton of reading and this includes lots and lots of blogs and articles. Over the holiday I ran across one article that just had me jumping up and down and yelling, “YES! THIS!” The Business Insider article “13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do” is based off Amy Morin’s book (which I highly recommend).

So I figured I would tinker with this and make it more directly apply to writers and what we must do (or not do) if we long to do well in this career. Thus, today we are going to discuss 13 Things Mentally Strong Writers Don’t Do.
