Interview with Ember Raine Winters

Ember Raine Winters recently asked for an interview with Eddie, the main antagonist from my debut novel, Written in Blood.  Unbeknownst to me, Eddie hijacked my email and easily agreed to spend some time talking with the author of the Pride and Honor, and Born series of books.  I don't have all the information about what went on during the interview, but Ember has promised me that all went well and that the interview was good.  I will have to trust her judgment and we will all find out when it goes live on her blog, https://emberrainewintersbookblog.wordpress.com/ on April 11.  Once it's out, I will post the info with the link.  Stay tuned!

World view vs Biblical view pt7

     Is your viewpoint worldly or Biblical?  People in general tend to think that being a good person qualifies them for Heaven.  The world says, "I'm a good person, therefore, God won't send me to hell."  They think that God is responsible for where they will spend eternity, and not the life choices that they have made.  They think that it's only the truly "wicked" people of the world that are condemned.  They think that if they do their best, if they are "good", and if they keep some of the commandments, they will make it to Heaven. They also rationalize their behavior and try to compare themselves to others.  They think that if they aren't as bad as the guy down the street who sells drugs to kids, or aren't like murderers and rapists, or they aren't wicked, then they will be ok for eternity.
     Unfortunately for them, God has other ideas about "good" and "wicked" people.  First of all, "good" won't cut it with God.  Secondly, keeping some of the commandments is not enough.  The Bible says that, "Whoever shall keep the whole law and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all" (James 2:10).
     To God, one sin is just as bad as five hundred sins.  One sin is just as bad as the next sin; other than the sin of blasphemy.  Therefore, you must strive to remain sinless in all areas, not just the ones you think are the "bad" ones.  You won't be able to be sinless, even though you are redeemed, but you must strive towards that mark.  Jesus left us the example to follow on how to live.
     The world is right about on area of their thinking though.  God doesn't want to send you to hell, but that's a choice you make when you choose to reject Jesus as your Savior.  The Bible says that God is not "willing that any should perish, but...come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).  Which means that God wants you to choose Jesus.
     God's Word clearly tells us that all will be "judged according to their works," and that "anyone not found written in the Book of Life," will be "cast into the lake of fire" (Revelation 20:12, 15).
     Choose life, not death.  It's a choice we all must make.
     Take time to pray to God and choose life.

World view vs Biblical view pt6

     What's your point of view, worldly or Biblical?  We all know how hard it is to love, or even like some people. We have a tendency to shy away from certain types of people: those that we perceive as "unclean" or "dirty"; the homeless; ones that we classify as "different" or "strange".
     The world says that you don't have to love all people.  We can pick and choose who is worthy of our love and friendship.  Besides, nobody wants to try to love someone who we know hates us; they don't deserve our love.
     But God sees it the opposite way.  God says it doesn't matter who they are or what they look like or where they come from or even if they've done you wrong, you have to love them.  God plainly tells us in His Word that "you shall love your neighbor as yourself" (Leviticus 19:18).  It doesn't matter who they are, where they're from, what they do; everyone is your neighbor.  Even those that don't like you.
     It's easy to love those that love you and look out for you and your well being.  But loving those that don't love you is a whole lot harder.  God says that "if you love those that love you...And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you?  For even sinners do the same"  (Luke 6:32-33).
     The Bible goes even further to tell us to "love", to "bless", to "do good", and to "pray for them" (Matthew 5:44).  And why should we do these things?  Because Jesus says that as "you have done it unto the least of these...ye have done it unto me"  (Matthew 5:40).  And isn't that the main thing?  Doing all that we do for the "glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31).
     Take time to pray to God and ask for His help in loving your neighbors.

     What's your view, worldly or Biblically?  Do you lash out at others for a wrong they've done to you?  Or have you intentionally hurt someone because you thought they were going to do something to you first?
     The worlds says to "do unto others as they have done to you," or it's a "do unto others before they can do it to you" mentality.  Lot's of people live by this view and think it's ok to treat people wrongly just because they feel like it.
     God sees it another way.  He tells us that "as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise" (Luke 6:31).  Jesus was always teaching His disciples about loving God and loving others, just like He teaches us.  Remember, when you do something, whether good or bad, you do it not only to the person you have targeted, but you do it to God as well.  Jesus said that "as ye have done it unto one of...my brethren, ye have done it unto to me" (Matthew 25:40).
     Stop and think about that before you "do unto others."  Take time to pray to God and ask Him to help you to "do to them likewise" in the Biblical way.

World view vs Biblical view pt4

     How are you seeing, by the world's view or a biblical view?  The world says that we got here by an accident called the "Big bang theory".  Scientists have tried to prove for centuries that there was no creation, that everything we see in the universe was just a chance encounter of chemical romance.  That the right chemical components just happened to meet up and create everything around us, including us.  Sounds a little ridiculous, right?  That's why it's labeled a theory.
     They don't want to believe that an all-powerful God had anything to do with their existence, because then they'd have to be accountable to that same God for all that they've done, or haven't done while here on earth.
     God wants you to know about a different "bang" that took place.  The Bible says that "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth" (Gen 1:1).  The infallible word of God tells that God created everything, and it wasn't by chance.  The Apostle Paul wrote that "by Him (God) all things were created that are in heaven and that are on the earth...all things were created through Him" (Colossians 1:16).
     The Bible also says that we should all "fear the Lord," and "stand in awe of Him," because "He spake, and it was done.  He commanded, and it stood fast" (Psalm 3:8-9).
     Take time today to pay to God and thank Him for all His creation.

Very fast paced, unpredictable, clean crime fiction.
None of the extreme violence or unnecessary profanities typical of the crime genre.
Intensely powerful character voices just jump off the pages, desperate to tell their story.

John and Ken are both such versatile great 3D characters.
No cardboard cut outs of "good/bad cop".
John has an almost paternal air about him and his faith adds to this element.
Ken is a fascinating and complex character.

Brilliant writing from Nathan Bush, with fabulous use of the unforeseen twist just before the end.
Written in Blood would make a great movie or tv series, likely to appeal to fans of Chicago P.D & Law & Order.

Wolrdly view vs Biblical view pt 3

     How do you see things, through the world's view or a Biblical viewpoint?  Have you ever had somebody do something to you that really hurt or annoyed you?  How did you respond?  The world says "don't get mad, get even."  Most times when someone has wronged us, our natural instinct is to strike back.  Either immediately, or after some careful planning for the perfect counterattack.
     Satan loves to see people fighting, and it doesn't matter what it's about.  If the devil can keep us at odds with one another, it distracts us from what really matters in life, and we won't be focused on what he's planning or doing.
     God, however, has a different approach for dealing offenders and retribution.  The Bible says to "avenge not yourselves...for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay, saith the Lord.'" (Rom 12:19)  God will always have the perfect punishment to fit the crime, whether it's now, or in the future.  He's been doing it a lot longer than we have, so let God be in control of doling out justice.
     Take time today to pray and ask God to help you take control of your "I'll get even with you" attitude.
