Thanks for reading and commenting.

Thanks for reading and commenting. Fortunately, this one isn’t entirely autobiographical. I spent an afternoon listening to sad songs from the 80’s and 90’s last week and was inspired by one of them to write this.

Yep! I don’t think it’s just a coincidence that this was one of my most popular stories ever.

Yep! Kind of makes it all pointless in my opinion.

Really enjoyed this one.

Really enjoyed this one. I’ve traditionally published a novella, which has been a nightmare, and self-published five short story collections. I am hoping to earn some money from them. Maybe with a lot of luck enough to allow me to quit my day job. But even if I don’t make much I know I’m going to still write, so why not through my stuff out into the universe and see what happens?

Your article perfectly captures that spirit.

To Fix the Broken Ones

Photo by Orane Thomas on Unsplash

Spent so many years thinking
I could find the perfect broken
beautiful girl my sad heart could
repair.

But the glittering shards of busted
glass blind you to the fact that your
heroics died on your shield years ago.

Now as you stand in front of that dragon
with a rusty sword and blood-stained
armor, the dragon’s venom-filled fangs
sunk in your throat as its fire tongue torch
your lips you think,

“Maybe she would have been better off
locked away in her lonely tower.”

Still, scorched skin and pierced hearts aside
I would joust all my honor and glory right off a
cliff into hell if it meant you still loved me
in the morning.

To Fix the Broken Ones was originally published in P.S. I Love You on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Crayons Were the First Spark

Is it still just the three-year old’s
desire to see his scribbles
lovingly taped to the
fridge?

I hope so.
