My First RT15 – AKA Romance Times Convention 2015
Last week, I attended my first writing convention for romance writers. The entire event went beyond the expectations I had when I arrived. I met both aspiring and published authors. I met indie, traditional, and hybrid authors. I met bloggers, readers, and the people who work behind the scenes to help authors make this a career. All of these people, whether they know it or not, have impacted my life and the way I will approach my writing moving forward.
Each day there was something new and exciting for me to learn. In high school and even in college, I dreaded going to glass. I didn’t want to sit there for an hour listening to someone talk. But at the convention, I couldn’t wait to get to the next class to hear what those authors had to say. I can honestly admit that each and every panel I attended has helped me one way or another.
Like most book lovers, I was also thrilled with the idea that I was about to meet some of my favorite authors. I had this plan – I was going to get a photo with each of the authors whose writing inspired me to write. A few authors I had no problem asking, but one particular author, my hands shook the entire time. I couldn’t tell you why that happened – everyone attending the convention was always happy to take photos and sign books.
Overall, the experience was one I’ll never forget. The lines are definitely something I will never ever forget. Hence, all the selfies last week

A Writer in Progress
All good things take time.
Yes, indeed they do.
My name is Jami Wagner and I am a reader, writer, and aspiring author. Everything about my life as a writer is a work in progress. Each day I learn something new and each day my dreams grow closer to reality.
I started ‘seriously’ writing last year (2013). It all began one day in my kitchen. I was leaning against the counter sorting through my mail. Instinct kicked in and I separated the keepers from the instant trashers. A small magazine offering classes at the community college was normally something I trashed. I already had a degree. I didn’t need more education. Did I? This day, I kept it, and that is where I found my future, a fiction writing class.
From that day forward, I have put my heart and soul into writing. I love every single minute of it.
