Mental Health Awareness Month and Mother’s Day

Faith, hope, love, healing and forgiving the unforgivable through prayer. Inspirational Memoir http://www.amazon.com/Ginny-Me-Reflec...

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Mother’s Day is May 8th. Ginny and Me: Reflections of What God Can Do is a deep personal story about my troubled relationship with my mother, who lived with a severe mental illness. Ginny, died unexpectedly at Christmas season, and buried later on Mother’s Day weekend.

My story addresses how God carried me, and several social issues including mental health, abuse, loss and grief.
I wrote this book hoping to help others coping in difficult times. My desire is staying in faith for this book to turn into an inspirational movie. Why? Because there are many people who need to let go of pain in their lives and seek God.

Mental Health Awareness and Mother's Day

My mom had a hard life. She grew up in the Buffalo State Hospital at a time when only adults we're instutionalized there. Growing up with her was difficult but I know she loved me and did her best to take care of me.She passed away December 10, 2010 and buried Mother's Day Weekend 2011. Her story is unique and is an awareness on several social issues. She believed in Christ and God made the impossible - possible. I believe the inspirational movie is coming. I miss my mom but know she's looking down smiling. I thank God for my mother.I wrote this book hoping to help others coping in difficult times. My desire is staying in faith for this book to turn into an inspirational movie. Why? Because there are many people who need to let go of pain in their lives and seek God.

I am Still Standing

Five years ago today I was in Fort Myers Florida. My mother had just passed away and my whole life was in dismay. I remember asking God where would I be five years from now. I didn't think I was going to make it to see the next day. But God, But God, But God... My life changed 360 degrees, losses and gains, opportunities and change so much happened I can't even explain. But God came and carried me through.

Reader's Favorite 5 Star Seal

My book, Ginny and Me:Reflections of What God Can Do received a 5 Star Seal from Reader's Favorite Book Review and Award Contest.

Book Review

"Ginny and Me: Reflections of What God Can Do by Christine Walters is an emotional account of a woman’s life. The story begins by introducing readers to her mother Ginny who was hospitalized for many years for severe mental illness, including schizophrenia and multiple personality disorder. Ginny is finally released from the mental hospital and marries a black man and ex-convict who is thirty years older than she is. Together they have Christine who is half white and half black and raised both Catholic like her mother and Baptist like her father.

Christine describes a childhood filled with violence both towards her and violence that she witnesses between her parents. Despite the chaos and pain, she comes to a saving faith in Jesus Christ at the age of 17. Christine learns that with forgiving others, as Christ forgives us, comes healing. She learns of God’s love, mercy and grace that brings her comfort over the next twenty years, mending her relationship with her mother and guiding her through her marriage, parenthood and difficult financial struggles that result in homelessness.

Truly inspirational, Ginny and Me is a beautiful and emotional story filled with heartache and hope. This story is a well-written memoir chronicling one woman’s courageous struggle in the midst of adversity. Christine survives a tumultuous childhood and difficult adulthood. Through it all she discovers the friend that she has in Jesus, who carries her through the storms of life. I found Ginny and Me to be a story of incredible courage and hope. It is a reminder that we can put our trust in Jesus who has promised never to leave us nor forsake us. I highly recommend Ginny and Me: Reflections of What God Can Do to readers everywhere." Sharing Story

I would like to share that in August I will be traveling to Buffalo to see where my mom lived most of her adolescent years. The hospital I mention in my book (Buffalo State Hospital) aka Buffalo State Insane Asylum offered to do a private tour. I donated a copy of my book. The hospital is a historical site and half of it was made into a museum and another part is under construction for the making of a hotel. Then there's another part of the hospital which is where my mom lived and is not opened to the public. The viewing day will be emotional for me. For my readers who already read my book, for the readers we are in the process and for those who are just curious please check out the website below."http://www.richardson-olmsted.com/P.S. The pics below are already in my book. Left is pic of the outside part of the side she lived in. Pic right below on left side is my mom at age 14 standing in front of the side she lived in. Pics on right side are front and back cover of my book.
