I love Emma and Mr. Knightley because they have a sweet but spirited relationship. I like Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy because they challenge each other and force each other to be better and grow, and I like Bronte's Jane Eyre and Rochester. Even though Rochester is much older than Jane, she is a match for him and can give as good as she gets. (less)

I had a terrible case of writer's block for a few years. I started half a dozen projects and then stopped in the middle. I couldn't get attached to a story. Every time I started a story I worried that it wasn't good or readers wouldn't like it. I was very lucky to have friends and family help me get over this and encourage me to get back to writing for the sheer enjoyment of it and not worry about anything else. So I always try to remember that, to relax and just enjoy the process. (less)

Who Needs Grammar Anyway?

Grammar is the Bermuda Triangle of high school English. You open the textbook and before you know it, you’ve disappeared into a vortex of confusion where no one can find you and you can’t get out. Everyone knows this. I will be so bold as to say even the teachers know this.
