Green Aventurine Prosperity in 2016

The very first object I brought in my house this year was this five pound mega-whopper Green Aventurine. It's a classic specimen, a soft "money" green with lots of gold flash that comes from included mica crystals. But it's more than an oversized addition to the mineral collection. It's a magnet on the metaphysical level, meant to draw plenty of new money into my house.

Here's a question. Is it more important to release your hopes for the stone and sort of forget it's there and let it do its...

Know Your Prosperity Stones #10: Topaz, including Imperial Topaz

Natural topaz crystals can grow to an impressive size, as you can see from this photograph taken in the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum-- a good place to get lost for hours admiring all the fine crystals and cut gemstones held in one of America's premier museums. Yes, that's a natural crystal-- although you can also see some humongous faceted topaz in the same place. Wowsers.

Throughout most of time and history, the stone honored as gem grade topaz was the golden or peachy-golden stuff k...

Crystal Cash Spells: Three Ways to Change Your Money Luck Today

The new ebook is here. Wheeeee.

This little book is meant to be a free guide to help beginners to stone magick and folklore get the most out of their stones without a lot of hassle or stress or undue obfuscation. ;-) My goal is to make the book downloadable for completely free to everyone. Right now, it's already available free to epub readers, including users of iBooks/iTunes, Nook/Barnes & Noble, and & Kobo. Here are the links. The Kobo link is especially cool, since if you're a new Kobo us...

Know Your Prosperity Stones #9: Green Aventurine

Green Aventurine by Mauro Cateb via Flickr under a CC 2.0 licenseGreen Aventurine is a classic prosperity stone.  I say so much about it in my book, Crystal Cash: Fast Easy Money Magick Using Popular Stones, that it would be silly to repeat myself here.  In fact I like it so much that I featured it prominently on the cover.

Have you got your copy yet? Click here to buy from Amazon
The pebbles have endless uses as pocket and medicine bag stones, and I think that's by far...

The Key to Prosperity Workings, Maybe the Key to All Magick

key on Arkansas quartz by Amethyst Qu
From time to time, there is a debate loud in the land about whether or not we need to have a magickal sacrifice to do magick.  And I shake my head and wonder why.  Because the debate always seems to degenerate into a loud yelling match between those who do and those who don't think you should be able to perform a blood sacrifice to do the work.

I'm going to suggest that sacrificing a chicken or a dove is not a sacrifice of any real significance th...

Half a Million Pennies in Louisiana

Amazing news story about a man who collected half a million pennies. As the story goes, evidently he had a mental game going on where if he saw a penny on the ground and picked it up, he was reminded to say a prayer. According to Caitlyn Oprysko for ABC news, the 73-year-old penny collector said this: “If I would see a penny when I’m gassing up, on the ground, or in a store, it would be a reminder to stop right there and say a prayer.”

Half a million pennies is a lot of pennies -- $5,000. Act...

Dyed Agate: A Growing Problem in the Metaphysical World

Dyed Green Agate beads by Amethyst Qu

There are hundreds if not thousands of Agate varieties that create mystery and wonder with their natural beauty.  The varieties of Crazy Lace Agate alone could keep you amazed and amused for days if not weeks.  I could list names of various magickal agates for hours and never come to the end -- Montana Agate, Blue Lace Agate, Dendritic Agate, Green Moss Agate, Red Plume Agate, Burro Creek, Lake Superior, Botswana, Carnelian, Agatized Co...

Hoarding -- Actually Not Always Bad For the Prosperity Seeker

tumble polished stones photo by Amethyst Qu

I hate to be the only person left standing to turn a skeptical eye on the beloved bestseller The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up but c'mon.  What is life-changing about being nagged to clean up and being told all sorts of wonderful things would happen if you did?  I'll tell you a story.  A friend of mine had a grandmother who was a firm believer in the life-changing magick of tidying up, and she decided to tidy up my friend...

Blue Aventurine: A Stone That Challenges Me

Photo of Blue Aventurine by Amethyst Qu

In my book Crystal Cash: Fast Easy Money Magick Using Popular Stones I spend a lot of time talking about Green Aventurine, a green quartz that usually has lots of golden or silvery mica flash.  I love that stone.  It's a great prosperity stone that can go anywhere, from a proper fruit bowl carving in a frou-frou restaurant to a gris-gris bag in the pocket of the guy shooting dice in a noisy casino.  Unlike it...
