UPDATE: FILLING A VOID
It's been a while since I made a post of any kind regarding books. It might seem strange then that this post will actually be about a computer game. It may even seem blasphemous to post about such a thing on a book blog, but I've discovered some things about myself as a reader during my time with this game and so I figured I'd make a post about it.

UPDATE: IT'S BEEN A LITTLE WHILE
It has been a very long time since my last post. I've fallen into a bit of a reading slump in addition to having things that have absorbed a lot of my time. Family stuff, a recent trip, and general busyness have slowed down my reading progress a bit, but there will be a number of posts coming up very soon.
If you ever follow me on Goodreads then you'll know that I did recently complete my 2015

UPDATE: LAST BOOK OF THE 2015 READING CHALLENGE
As it stands right now, I have read 19 books out of my goal for 20 books read in 2015. When I initially set this goal, I was very skeptical about my ability/commitment to complete this goal. Now that I'm here in August of 2015 (and didn't start the challenge until around April) I think I should have set the bar a bit higher, but since this is the first year that I have been on Goodreads and

REVIEW: RAT QUEENS VOLUME 1: SASS AND SORCERY
INTRODUCTION
Humor is one of those things that I often stay away from in entertainment. All too often, it just doesn't appeal to me. I get the sense that writers think they're more clever than they actually are or that the sense of humor is so far beyond the boundaries of what I consider reality that it just doesn't feel authentic. For me, jokes are best served in the midst of misfortune or

UPDATE: 8/4/15
My TBR is cleaned up, the awards readalongs have begun, and I have posted reviews for Whispers of the World that Was (4), Sinking (4), The Hunger Games (5), and Catching Fire (5).
It seems like I will be running off of a monthly reading schedule after all since I am participating in the BookTubeSFF Awards readalongs and have a goal of reading two of the books from each month (August, September,

UPDATE: TBR CLEANUP - FINAL VERDICT
INTRODUCTION
After going through my list of planned reads here are the results of what I'll definitely keep and what I will be passing on. To keep things a bit shorter than the first post, I will group these in a somewhat more concise way. If something's been removed, then I will provide a bit of justification as to why something didn't keep my interest upon giving it a second look or why I

REVIEW: CATCHING FIRE (THE HUNGER GAMES BOOK 2)
INTRODUCTION
All too often, I find that sequels just don't provide a worthy follow up to the original or that sometimes the original story is just so incomplete that I hardly have any desire to move forward for fear of never receiving a satisfying conclusion. For this reason, I often stay away from sequels and even series in general, at least in terms of books. I think this is part of the

NEWS: Kindle Countdown Deal for Digitarum
Digitarum is on sale for $0.99 for the next five days. This is the first time I have been able to experiment with a Countdown Deal so I will have to see how it all turns out. Sadly, you can't split up the days like you can on a free promotion, so I am using my maximum of seven days all at once.
It can be picked up at Amazon.

UPDATE: TBR CLEANUP
INTRODUCTION
This one will be a very special sort of update post because it is a bit of a different reading schedule.
Since setting up a Goodreads profile I have slowly been growing a collection of books I have read and reviewed and chipped away at my 2015 reading goal one book at a time. What I have also done is accumulated a somewhat unnerving list of books that are on my To Read shelf. This

REVIEW: THE HUNGER GAMES
INTRODUCTION
It's not often that I go into a book KNOWING that I will love it. I've gone in confident I will love something, but even with sequels, there's never really any kind of surefire guarantee. That's all a bit different when I am re-reading something. Such is the case with Suzanne Collins' THE HUNGER GAMES. This is a book that I actually originally read for a class on popular fiction
