Singapore suffered greatly under Japanese Imperial Army rule during World War II. And to this day Singaporeans blame the United Kingdom and Australia for the Fall of Singapore following inept defense and inadequate resistance despite vastly superior numbers over the Japanese invaders. The resulting casualties were horrendous — 85,000 Common Wealth troops captured, 5,000 troops (mostly Australian) killed. Thousands of Singaporeans of Chinese descent were targeted and killed...

Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery rooftop

The Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery is a huge complex containing many buildings. Construction on this traditional Chinese Buddhist monastery in Bishan began in 1920. SInce that time it has expanded, adding various temples, a nunnery, and in 2006 the Buddhist College of Singapore.

Now let us move on to a more somber and sorrowful point in Singapore history. Changi Chapel and Museum is built near the site of the infamous Changi Prisoner...
