Ripples
Next week we move on to Kristiansan, Norway. Until then, here’s one last Fun Photo Friday look as Skagen, Denmark:

Transatlantic — Skagen; More around town and beyond
Skagen, Denmark
Let’s hike out northeast of town, along the eastern shore of the Skagen Odde Peninsula. It is here that we come across the first of two lighthouses. We didn’t get as far as the second, although we did see that one in the distance. At any rate, below is Skagen’s White Lighthouse. It was in operation from 1747 until 1858, when it was replaced by the Skagen Grey Lighthouse.

To get to these lighthouses you walk along some interesting residential areas:

Transatlantic — Skagen; Out and About
Skagen, Denmark
Skagen is easily traveled on foot. Today we start from Skagen Havn (Port of Skagen) and head toward town and beyond. First, let us begin with some more images of the port:

Here is a statue dedicated to the fishermen and sea rescuers of Skagen:

Not far from the Swedish Seamen’s Church which I showed you last week is a really neat glassblowing factory/gallery:

Transatlantic — Skagen; Waterfront and another Church
Skagen Havn (Port of Skagen)
On Monday I showed you the ‘new’ Skagen Luthern Church built in 1841. That church is located near the old town center. But there is another fascinating Luthern church here, located closer to Skagen Havn, which translates to Port of Skagen. This church is the Svenska Sjömanskyrkan i Skagen (the Swedish Seamen’s Church Skagen):

This church contains a nautically themed interior, as one would expect for a church geared toward the fishing...

Transatlantic — Arriving into Skagen, Denmark
Skagen, Denmark
Our Royal Caribbean ship, Vision of the Seas, was now officially transatlantic after our Baltic adventure. We stayed aboard Vision of the Seas when it returned to Copenhagen and prepared for and adventure that would take us to Norway, Scotland, Iceland, and Newfoundland before our return to the U.S.
We started our transatlantic crossing with a stop at the port of Skagen, Denmark on August 23, 2017. Skagen is a smallish community of just over 8,000, and it’s the northernmost to...

A Preview of Future Firearms Articles
1973 Ruger Super Bearcat
As many of you probably know, even though I concentrate on photography and travel, my most popular articles by far are on various firearms, especially those considered collectable. After my current transatlantic crossing series (the follow-on to the Baltic cruise series), I’ll be running a week of firearms articles before continuing on to another travel series.

Fun Photo Friday — Gdańsk Favorites 3
Cobblestones
Next week it’s time to move on to Skagen, Denmark, where they do not make the watch. Until then, one last Fun Photo Friday viewing of Gdańsk, which also closes out my Baltic Cruise series as we remain aboard Vision of the Seas for yet another cruise, this one a transatlantic crossing.

Baltic Cruise — Random views of Gdańsk
Gdańsk Old Town
Today’s we’re just going to wander around the streets of Gdańsk, beginning with the street scene above of Old Town, and moving on to this model of the Monument to the Fallen Shipyard Workers of 1970 at the European Solidarity Centre:

The train station here is worth a visit, as well as taking up some room in your camera’s storage:
