Rant for the day
I've had something bothering me lately. I recently read an article basically saying romance novels are full of weak women who 'need' a man to get them through life. Perhaps I'm not reading the same romance novels as these people. The romance novels I read are full of strong-willed, independent women. These women aren't usually looking for love, but they find it with someone who accepts them for who they are, flaws and all.

excerpt from Vengeance
Jace smiled and sat on the edge of her bed. "I need to ask who did this to you?" He could hear her heart begin to race as fear set in. "I'm sorry, but I have a serious problem with anyone responsible for doing this kind of damage to a female."
"You don't even know me."
"No one deserves what was done to you."
"YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT WAS DONE TO ME!"
"I KNOW ENOUGH!"
"YOU KNOW NOTHING!"
"I KNOW ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT I WANT TO KILL THE BASTARD
RESPONSIBLE!"
"NO!" She took a deep breath and calmed herself. "Look, I appreciate the
thought of avenging me, but I just want to get well and get as far from here as possible."
"Elizabeth, the asshole, like the one who did this to you, should not be allowed to live. He is going to do this again."
"Someday, I will get my revenge, but I need time. I need to get my life together first."
Jace growled in frustration, "YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS! I WANT BLOOD FOR THIS," He yelled, waving his hands over her body.
"UGH! MALES! YOU DON'T GET TO BE ANGRY ABOUT THIS!" She yelled back, waving her own hands over her body. "He kept ME shackled to a wall, draining ME, raping ME and beating ME! NOT YOU! I had to pretend to submit in order for him to finally leave my ankles unrestrained and then I had to break my own hands to get out of the wrist restraints! NOT YOU! Then it took all of my remaining strength to get through the tiny window and into the woods. I was constantly looking
over MY shoulder, expecting him or his men to be on ME any second! NOT YOU! DO NOT PRETEND TO KNOW WHAT I WENT THROUGH! IF ANYONE GETS TO HAVE REVENGE, IT'S ME AND IN MY OWN FUCKIN' GOOD TIME...CLEAR!" She was breathing heavy, her heart was racing and her eyebrows were pinched together.
Jace could do nothing but stare wide-eyed at her. Her cheeks were flushed, her gorgeous eyes fierce. He couldn't help himself, he leaned forward and captured her mouth with his. He was shocked to feel nothing. He pulled away and looked at her.
She had an odd look on her face. "Um, Jace, I'm sorry. Please don't take this the wrong way... but... eww." Then she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.
Jace laughed and said, "Thank the Goddess. I thought kissing you felt like kissing a sister."
"I'm sorry I yelled at you. You didn't deserve it."
"Trust me, you aren't the first female to give me a tongue lashing," said Jace with a sly grin.
"Mmhmm. Why am I not surprised," she said with her own sly grin.
