Book Review: 12 Ordinary Men by John MacArthur
12 Ordinary Men by John MacArthur is a book that looks at the original 12 Apostles. I’ve already read this book twice, and I intend to read it again at some point.
What this book does is help the reader see just how human the Apostles were. They were chosen by God, and developed into the foundations of the Christian church, but they were just men. Not only that, they weren’t from a high station.
I appreciated the person-by-person structure of the book. I was honestly most impressed with Andrew, Peter’s younger brother. Why? Because all Andrew did was introduce people to Jesus. While I wish I had more in common with Andrew, I see more of myself in Peter and John.
Like them, I’m aggressive. I’m task oriented. I’m driven. I have ambition. I value truth over most things. These aren’t inherently sinful traits, but they can lead one to stumble if no one is there to temper those traits into positive leadership.
I’m comforted in that while I see that I need to develop certain skills and bring back others, they are traits that could be useful to my Savior if I seek to serve Him more.
If any are wondering, this book even takes a look at Judas. It’s as comprehensive as it can be. It uses some church history writings to fill in some gaps, but the primary source of reference for the information is, of course, the Bible.
[image error]This image taken from MacArthur’s web site for review purposes under fair use doctrine.
I’d recommend this book to any people in leadership. I’d recommend it to anyone looking to see personal growth. Seeing a detailed character study allowed me to see parts of myself and truly contemplate how I’m acting. This is probably my favorite book by MacArthur to date.
By looking at how Jesus developed his Apostles, we also get a unique view of Him, and that’s always a plus.
I’m honestly a big fan of this particular book. Any Christian looking to evaluate their walk with Christ would do well to read this.
Thanks for reading,
Matt

Repressed is Live! Get A Copy Today!
Greetings all,
Last year, I set a pretty high goal. I wanted to publish four titles in the year. Today marks the fulfillment of that goal. Honestly, I count it both as the end of one year and the first of the next. I’m simply so excited to hit “publish book” so many times.
[image error]I’m proud to present to you all Repressed: An Oneiros Log YA Novella. I put that in the title so fans of Caught wouldn’t be too jarred. This is a YA story with YA themes and style. That means it’s a different feel than Caught. The characters are there, and you do get to see where they are between Books One and Two of the main arch, but this is all about Kaitlyn.
She’s one of my favorite characters overall, so when this idea took hold, I figured it’d be something nice to give fans of Caught to tide them over while I get Betrayed set up (I’m 14 percent through the discovery draft of that book by the way).
I’m thankful to those who preordered the book, and I hope any seeing this decide to give it a try. It will remain 99 cents until the 15, when it goes to it’s regular price of $2.99.
Here’s the official blurb:
Some girls grow up watching cartoons of princesses and unicorns. Some girls grow up wearing pretty dresses and dreaming about meeting a nice boy. Some are even tomboys, taking more active roles in sports or getting their hands dirty with the boys.
Kaitlyn Olhouser didn’t have any of those options. She was a long-term experiment that resulted in becoming an empath. She was rescued by her now adopted family, a team of people each gifted with psychic powers that calls itself Oneiros. She has abilities just like them. She’s even more powerful than all but one of them, but she’s 16, and her caretakers seem more interested in making sure she graduates high school that letting her use her abilities to join the team.
A short encounter with some bullies inspires her to find her own opportunity to be the hero she knows she’s destined to be. But being a hero isn’t exactly what comic books make it out to be. Her actions put an Oneiros mission in danger, and her antics in school create more problems than she could imagine.
Kaitlyn must embrace what it is to be a hero to make a real difference, not in the war against bad guys, but in the lives of her friends.
(END BLURB)
[image error]So there it is. I’m proud of this story for a number of reasons. First, it’s a new title, and that’s always an achievement. Next, I wrote outside my comfort zone. Most of you who follow my blog know I’m not a YA fan. Sure, I liked the Divergent series, and I think the Chaos Walking Trilogy was extremely underrated, but on the whole, I’m just not a fan. So I wanted to think critically about what I liked and didn’t like and put my money where my mouth was. The Audible version is under production now. I think the story is charming. Most importantly, I think it covers some very important issues, primarily racism and bullying. I sincerely hope you’ll give it a try and offer a review. I’d be thrilled if I had 20 people pick up a copy today. It would honestly help me so much with the Amazon machine, and simply knowing 20 people gave my work a try would be a great way to start off the year.
You can click the above link, or this link here to purchase your copy.

Sonnets For My Savior 13
What It Tells Us
A line from Abraham proves God’s faithfulness.
A line from Judah, Jechoniah, and Manasseh, demonstrate God’s forgiveness.
If there are evil sinners in the line, it is only to show that God can shift malice into kindness.
If God’s faithful are in the line, it is only to show God’s truthfulness.
Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba are mentioned in the line.
Each name shows more of God’s character.
Rahab was a harlot, and Bathsheba an adulteress, but still to them God was kind.
Ruth was a Moabite, but her faith and trust led her to her great redeemer.
Shealtiel, Zerubbabel, Abuid and Eliakim,
Before Joseph came Eleazar, Matthan, Jacob and Achim.
The line shows that by right the throne belongs to Him.
The line shows that Jesus came for sinners because sinners are his kin.
From Abraham to Joseph they waited for the promised King;
Lord bless the day he was born; for that day we offer praise; for that day we sing.
They Come
Look to the east, the wise men come.
They search for the Jews’ king.
Born in Bethlehem was God’s only begotten Son
just as the prophet said in his writing.
From there was born a ruler
who is the shepherd for Israel.
There is no way to a life that’s fuller
than to be among our Savior’s faithful.
They are here with treasures for His birth:
gold, frankincense and myrrh,
but those gifts are only a fraction of His worth.
For the day of His birth was one of wonder.
His risen star showed the way
to the Christ who was born on that glorious day.
Strong and Courageous
He promised to give every place Joshua’s foot walked on.
He promised no man would stand before him.
Three times God told him to be courageous and strong,
for God would never leave or forsake him.
He was warned not to turn from the law to the left or to the right.
He was told to meditate on the lay every day and every night.
With God at his side, Joshua would win every fight.
With God beside him, everything would be alright.
Let us hear your word, our God above.
Let us follow your path and do your will.
Let us keep your words in our hearts with love.
Even in times of trouble, let us keep them still.
Smile, oh God, on those who are strong and courageous.
Let us face our trials with faith, for You are always with us.
He Chose to Obey
He could have sent Judas away.
He could have remained hidden.
Instead Jesus chose to obey
so that He might do as the Scriptures had written.
He could have let Peter fight.
He could have petitioned for angles and received more than twelve legions.
Instead He chose to do what was right
and accept the price for our salvation.
He could have come down from the cross
and proven himself to the chief priests, scribes, and elders,
Instead he chose to endure the cost,
so that he could provide hope for all of us sinners.
Our glorious Savior chose to let himself die
to obey our Father and provide us a path to life.
When We Have Faith
When Joshua obeyed in faith, the walls of Jericho fell.
When Moses obeyed in faith, the Red Sea parted.
For those who obey and have faith, all will be well.
Blessed are those who work to walk the path You’ve charted.
Goliath fell to a young David and his sling.
Abraham and Sarah eventually gave birth.
Ruth offered her faith and became grandmother the king.
Elijah asked, and fire fell to the earth.
Gideon had faith, and God delivered Midian into his hands.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had faith and were protected from immolation.
A centurion’s servant was healed simply by Jesus’s command
A thief on the cross asked Christ to remember him and thus, found salvation.
Mountains can move from here to another place.
Indeed all things are possible if we only have faith.
Again and Again
Peter denied Christ three times,
but he was still the rock on which Christ’s church was built.
Peter had doubt sometimes,
but he always repented, for he acknowledged his guilt.
Christ taught us about forgiveness
in the parable of the unforgiving servant.
That wicked man sought payment with ruthlessness
even though his master was benevolent.
One should forgive
as he was forgiven.
For each day that we all may live,
we should pardon our brothers no matter what offense was given.
How often should we let go each time our brother offends us?
Seventy times seven is what our lord Jesus Christ tells us.
He Can Not Be Denied
Herod wanted to prevent His birth,
so he had all the children in Bethlehem killed.
But all of his effort and desire was of little worth,
for all of his evil only helped to see prophecy fulfilled.
Pharisees sought to prevent His teaching,
so they challenged Him and questioned his miraculous deeds.
But all their effort to stop His preaching
only provided the opportunity to place on display their hypocritical misdeeds.
Caiaphas sought to destroy Him and put his life to an end,
so the chief had Him crucified, and a guard for his tomb was given.
But with the will of God, they could not contend,
for after the third day, just as He said, He is risen.
The power of Christ can not be denied,
for the Son of God is King, and over Earth he will preside.
Announcing the 2018 M.L.S. Weech Book Cover of the Year!
Greetings all,
It was a great year filled with a lot of great covers, great authors, and some amazing books. Thanks to this idea, I got to read my favorite fiction book of the year. I got to make some amazing connections, but this is really all about the covers.
We had 3,023 votes for this bracket. That’s not as many as last year, but it’s still pretty great considering the size of this bracket. In the monthly brackets, we started with 32, and that ads 16 more votes per voter. These numbers mean we had at least 755 unique voters, and that’s awesome if you ask me. The winner of this contest can say more than 700 people looked at all 16 covers, and thought his or hers was best. (I have to TRY and keep some drama don’t I?)
There were three different leaders at different points of the contest. It was a close fight between the last two (came within ten voters, which would be less than one percent for those math people out there). However, I’m proud to say we have an undisputed champion.
The 2018 M.L.S. Weech Book Cover of the Year is…
[image error]
Metal and Stone: The Awakening by Kevin Potter! This was a Wild Card Round Cover. Just check out that link for a book blurb and more info on how his cover did.
Let’s look at the stats! The closest fight was between Potter and Asunder by L. Steinworth. These two traded off the lead, battling for their metaphorical lives in the Final Four. Steinworth took the lead on the last day, but then Potter surged ahead by a mere eight votes, and that turned out to be the difference maker. None of the covers on the other side of the bracket provided much of a fight, but that semifinal round was worth watching!
Since Metal and Stone: The Awakening was a wild card winner, that means it never won a monthly competition, so let’s show the book blurb so readers can see if they might be interested.
(START BLURB)
DRAGONS.
They exist, but have been in a state of hibernation for millennia. Will mankind survive their violent awakening?
Dauria was young and idealistic when she helped create the pact to force all dragons to withdraw from the world of Man in Earth’s distant past.
When she awakens unexpectedly after a millennia-long slumber, she finds those carefully laid plans unraveling. Someone is plotting a new war against humanity, and this time words may not be enough to stop it.
In her desperation to reunite with old allies, she finds herself separated from her draconic nature. If she can’t get it back, the nightmarish horrors of the past could return worse than ever…
(END BLURB)
Potter received 474 total votes. It’s sort of cool because he came into the tournament ranked twelfth (the wild card round lead vote earner). .
That means the Weech goes to Potter’s cover designer, which means I need him to tell me who that designer is so I can engrave The Weech and send it over to him.
[image error]I hope you all had fun this year. I really am pleased with how things turned out. That concludes the year, and, as I’ve discussed, the bracket is officially over at least for a year. With the marriage and release schedule I’m trying to maintain, it’s honestly a challenge to look at covers every day and provide the deep feedback I think it deserves. If I start again next year, I hope the authors and artists who were involved spread the word so other authors and artists can get exposure. That’s the whole point of the tournament.
For now, I’m honored to have the chance to give all these covers some attention. I will still read all the winners (including Potter’s) and review them. I’ll also find another way to give authors some purchases and reviews. For now, I hope you’ll continue stopping by my blog.
Thanks for reading

Your 2018 M.L.S. Weech Book Cover of the Year Update!
Greetings all,
With just three days left in the 2018 M.L.S. Weech Book Cover of the Year bracket, it’s time to update you all on how things have been progressing.
As I type this, we have 1,512 votes so far. That’s a bit slow, but still not terrible considering the size of the bracket and the amount of time there is to vote.
[image error]Metal and Stone by Kevin Potter is in first place.
Most Voted on so far: Potter has 245 total votes, but it’s pretty close in a couple of ways. I also think if we make sure these authors and their fan bases are aware of it, the 37 votes Potter has isn’t that steep a margin.
Least Voted for: The Unlicensed Consciousness by Travis Borne has 19 votes. This was the Number 5 seed cover that had 434 total votes in April’s Book Cover of the Month. I’m certain he’ll get a better showing if his fans can rally to his call.
So, how close is it? Well, Asunder by L. Steinworth is only 20 votes behind Potter in the Final Four.
There are still a few days left, so let’s see about spreading word and helping these authors and artists out. It would make me sad to hear an artist or author didn’t have an opportunity to participate.
[image error]Pipe of Wings is currently in second. Can Wilson find 40 fans who will push her past Potter?
A brief not on Brackify. As I’ve mentioned, it’s shutting down. Some of you may be getting a warning. I’d appreciate any comments if you are. That said, if you do get that screen, just know the IP is running down because of the site’s shutdown. I consider it a safe site, so you can click through to vote without too much concern in my opinion.
A quick reminder of how the tournament works. The easiest way to win is to have the most people vote for you in every round. The trick is you have to have the most people vote you through in each round, all the way to the final. As an example, 100 people could vote someone through to the finals, but that doesn’t do a cover any good if he doesn’t win the first round. It’s not total votes. It’s not simple championship votes. The winning cover has to have the most votes in each round of the competition.
This will be the only update for this type of bracket. I hope the record does get broken and that I see voters lining up to support their authors by voting, liking, and sharing the bracket with as many people as possible. You can vote at this address!
I’ll announce the winner is just seven days!
Thanks for reading,
Matt

Sonnets for My Savior 12
Why Do We Suffer Part I
Some ask why we suffer?
The challenge is to claim no good God would allow such.
Why do men hurt one another?
Why would He let pain fall on any who worship Him so much?
The noise grows louder when those who praise Him face pain.
They ask who would follow a God who allows His followers to come to ruin.
The temptation is to turn from Him and curse His name.
The desire is to turn from Him and rely on what lies within.
They do not know or remember the trials of Job.
They don’t know or remember that Jesus told them they would face resistance.
They want only a God who gives and blesses, but they do not know
that God is sovereign, and sometimes He tests us to se if we’ll go the distance.
It is easy to worship when one has blessing on top of blessing,
but it takes true faith to remember to praise Him even in our suffering.
Why Do We Suffer Part II
How easy is it to sing praise when one is happy?
How easy is it to forget to praise when one is sated?
One proves faith by keeping it while unhappy.
One is blessed even if it seems his end is fated.
We don’t crave the cups we must drink,
nor do we eagerly await the cross we must bear.
But neither can we fail to think
that when times are hard that God is still there.
We endure because today’s suffering doesn’t compare to tomorrow’s glory.
We endure because that’s what suffering brings.
The grace He provides is promissory,
of the blessings He’ll give in the next life for which we’re aching.
We suffer, and there are many reasons,
but blessed are those who honor God in good or bad seasons.
Let Us Be Grateful
You led the Israelites out of Egypt with your powerful miracles.
Yet soon after, they rebelled.
They foolishly thought lack of food and water were sufficient obstacles
to the God who held apart the Red Sea no matter how it swelled.
You granted Your people their portions,
Yet they fell away even after you sent your Judges.
You worked through Samuel, Eli, Abdon, and Sampson to execute your actions,
but time after time they turned away, forgetting their pledges.
They had, yet they wanted more.
They made demands even after you freed them from slavery.
Let us learn from those who came before,
and not become ungrateful, turning to acts that are unsavory.
Let us be grateful to you always!
May we keep you with us all of our days!
Our Cross
You carried Your cross for our sins;
let us carry ours to glorify you.
Your yoke is easy, and light is your burden,
so we seek to follow you.
We must deny ourselves our desires
and take up our crosses.
Of your gospel, let us be testifiers.
Let us praise you no matter what transpires.
We offer our lives for your sake;
we submit to your example.
When you come again, let us be awake
let the fuel for our lamps be ample.
For there is no profit worth our souls,
so let following you be our only goal.
Our Rock
Let us build our homes on the rock.
This foundation will protect us in the storm.
Great are the words you’ve given Your flock.
Let us hear them and conform.
You are the pillar of our lives.
With you as our foundation, we can stand.
We wait in hope of the day Your Son arrives,
so we can live with him in his Holy, remade land.
Let us stand firm with You.
Let us be always guarded by Your armor.
Let us be diligent in all that we do,
to make sure our efforts show you honor.
Protect us from the winds, and don’t let us fall.
For you, mighty God, are the rock of all.
Your Grace
Your grace is the only reason for our forgiveness.
Your grace is sufficient for all our needs.
Your grace is truly limitless.
Your grace guards us when temptation calls us to shameful deeds.
Your grace is how we receive mercy.
Your grace is given to the humble.
Your grace aids us in the midst of controversy.
Your grace abounds when those who love you with all their heart stumble.
Your grace delivers us from the dominion of sin.
Your grace toward us is never in vain.
Your grace through Your Son has made us heirs with Him.
Your grace comforts us when we are in pain.
Your grace makes it possible for us to live.
Your grace is such a great gift for you to give.
The Way, The Truth, and The Life
He is the only path to see our Father.
He is the example to follow.
Only He could pay for our sins, no other.
He intercedes on our behalf because our words and deeds are hollow.
He gave of his body for us.
His blood was poured out for many.
He endured our punishment for us.
He gave for us more than any.
His lessons guide those who follow his truth.
His lessons teach any who can hear.
His lessons are for any adult or any youth.
His blessings are great when one keeps him near.
He is our Savior who gives life after death.
Let as pray, follow, and serve him with every action, and every step, and every breath.

The Audiobook Edition of Repressed Is in Production!
Greetings all,
[image error]I’m happy to report to you that Repressed, which is still available for preorder, is now under production as an audiobook!
I had auditions open for about a week-and-a-half, and Kenzie’s, Jennifer Wooster, audition blew me away. Her voice was perfect for Kaitlyn at this stage in her life. Kenzie’s listening to Caught right now to get some context for the characters, and we hope things wrap up by the end of January. I still have some free audible codes for both Caught and The Power of Words if you want a free audiobook and want to give my work a try. Just shoot me an email. Speaking of which, I have a 5-Star Review on Audible for The Power of Words.
I’m thrilled to have been releasing products at the pace I have been. I’ve started writing Betrayed: Book Two of the Oneiros Log, and I think things will go well once I get a few days of writing under my belt.
I just wanted to update everyone on the good news. As always, I’m so appreciative of all that you do to support this dream of mine.
Thanks for reading,
Matt

The 2018 M.L.S. Weech Book Cover of the Year Bracket Starts Now!
Hello all!
I’ve been building to this for quite some time, and I’m so excited to kick things off. This is it! Twelve Book Covers of the Month join four Wild Card Book Covers to comprise a sixteen-book tournament to determine which one will rule them all!
If you like, you can take a look at each book cover’s winning announcement: December, January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, and November.
[image error]365 book covers. 53,047 votes. All leading to this tournament! The covers were ranked 1-16 by the number of total votes each received. That means the cover that received the most votes (Until Nothing Remains) is going up against the Wild Card that received the fewest votes. (Age of War), and so on and so forth.
You can vote all the way through the tournament, supporting the covers you like best through each round. I like to make sure people get the credit they deserve, so please show your support. Please vote and share as much as possible to get people a chance to pick their favorite.
As always, I’d appreciate it if you tag the authors and artists if you know them. I try to tag or friend every author I can, but sometimes it’s hard to track someone down. Max participation is a huge deal to me. The more people who vote, the more recognition these authors and artists receive, and I want this to be as legitimate as possible.
[image error]Image taken from Pixabay.
If you are the author, let’s remember to be good sports! 1) Please feel free to message or contact me at any time. 2) Please feel free to like, share, text, ask for support, and call everyone you know. I absolutely want max participation. However, if you’re going to offer giveaways or prizes, please offer them for voting, not just voting for you.
Also, while your summoning your army of voting soldiers, please make sure you ask them to vote in every match. Part of the idea of this is to get exposure to as many artists and authors as possible. By all means, if you can get 1,000 people to vote for your book, do it. Just please also send some eyeballs to the other matches.
A final note to authors and artists: I currently have links to the books’ Amazon pages. If you’d prefer I switch that link to sign up for your newsletter or like your social media page or whatever, just send me the link and let me know. I want this to help you. I want this to be as helpful as possible, so whatever you need me to do to facilitate that, just let me know.
It’s been fun! I’d like to end this tournament on a high note. I’m trying to get 10,000 total votes. Please, tell everyone. Get people to vote. I want this trophy to mean something, and it’ll frankly mean more as more people vote.
I hope you keep having fun. Please, vote, share, and discuss as much as possible.
All you have to do now is head over here to vote!
Thanks for reading,
Matt

Sonnets for My Savior 11
He Came
He was promised when Eve was deceived.
He was promised when Moses led the Jews.
All the prophets who came were disbelieved.
From Moses to the Baptist, they were abused for their news.
Isaiah said he would come as a baby.
Micah told them where the Christ would be born.
Nephi prophesied He would be born to a virgin lady.
These signs would announce that God had done as he had sworn.
He came as Isaiah predicted.
He arrived just where Micah said he would.
The virgin Mary gave birth just as Nephi depicted.
He came, but His people did not welcome Him as they should.
He came to be a ransom for many.
He came to pay our price and suffer our agony.
The Devil Is Your Best Friend
“It’s OK,” he says. “No one will cast blame.”
Seek not encouragement from friends.
Instead, obey the one with the most Holy name.
His law is written, and his rules do not bend.
“It’s OK,” he says. “Everybody does as you do.”
Seek not the approval of man.
Instead, follow after He who died to save you.
He is the way, the truth, and the light; the only path to Heaven.
“You’ll never be perfect,” he says. “Do what you wish rater than suffer guilt.”
Seek not a path of comfort.
Instead, do what is right according to the one by whom this world was built.
He is God, and His will is one no man can subvert.
Do not listen to the words of man,
Instead hear God, for against His wrath, no man can stand.
That Day
They mocked him, daring him to save himself if he could,
ignorant of the reason for his death.
Nine hours he hung, bleeding on a cross of wood.
“It is finished,” he said, and then he breathed his last breath.
They buried him in a rich man’s tomb
and rolled a stone to the entrance.
The disciples were each filled with gloom,
but they should have remembered what was said in advance.
How foolish it was to think
that a mortal guard could do what death could not.
At an angel’s arrival, the guards did shrink
as he removed the stone and sat upon the rock.
They mocked Christ on that day,
but when he returns again, they’ll know him, kneel, and offer praise.
Let Us Be Ready
Let us wear wedding garments that we may celebrate Your feast.
Let us carry our flasks of oil that we might be ready when You come.
Let us feed and give water to your brothers even to one of the least.
Let us welcome strangers, no matter where they’re from.
Let us increase what you entrust to us no matter the amount,
so that we might be good and faithful servants.
For to those who return your gifts with interest receive more than they can count,
when you rent out your vineyard, let us be loyal occupants.
Let us stay awake
for we know the thief is coming.
For we have more at stake
than simple possessions or even gold that’s gleaming.
Let us be ready for Your return,
for those who do not seek the Son, are only destined to burn.
For Your Brothers
When You are hungry, we will give you food.
When You are thirsty, we will give You refreshment.
If You are a stranger, we’ll offer our welcome and not be rude.
Should You be naked, we will offer you a garment.
If You are sick, we will visit you.
If You are in prison, we will come.
As we do for your chosen, we do it for you, too.
We serve so that Your will might be done.
Let us serve our brothers to glorify your name.
Let us offer our love and fellowship.
For as we treat our brothers, you will treat us the same,
so we share and help to demonstrate our worship.
Let us inherit the kingdom you have prepared.
For whatever your brothers needed, we have freely shared.
The Irony
“…not as I will, but as you will,” He said. He wanted the cup to pass.
Instead, he accepted the will of his Father.
Peter pulled his sword, ready to fight to the last.
Instead, Jesus told him to put it away so He might fulfill scripture.
The people chose Barabbas, denying their Savior.
They saved the guilty, and condemned the innocent.
Soldiers abused and mocked our Ruler.
But even in this, Jesus did that for which He was sent.
“…let Him come down from the cross, and we will believe in Him,” they said.
They reviled him thinking His death was evidence of a lie.
They did not realize that if He came down, we would all be dead.
They didn’t know that his death was for our sin, and through him we are alive.
He did not come down because he lacked the power;
he stayed hung to the cross to save us in our most desperate but shameful hour.
The Commission
Make disciples of all nations.
Baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
We can build fellowship and establish good relations,
teaching them the good news and blessing all who hear it.
Help them observe all He has commanded.
Help them learn of Christ and the resurrection.
Prepare them for the end before Jesus has descended.
For only through accepting him can people receive salvation.
Let Your commission be obeyed.
Let us be bold in our testimony.
Though our ability is insufficient, Your Spirit will come to our aid,
Let us follow the spirit of Your commands and not get lost in simple ceremony.
Let us take up your great commission.
To help Your kingdom come, is our most holy mission.

The 2018 Book Cover of the Year Wild Card Round Begins!
Greetings all,
[image error]I decided to break this into a few posts so each one got the equal amount of credit. Also, those who want to vote in this round might not have wanted to slog through all of the November information just to get to the link.
That said,
THE 2018 BOOK COVER OF THE YEAR BRACKET HAS BEGUN!
Here’s how this round works:
Since I did a bracket every month, I have 12 covers, but the smallest bracket I can run here has 16 slots. That means I need four more covers. Hence this round of the tournament. This bracket has eight entries. Winning is nice, but you only need to land in the top four of this bracket to get into the final Book Cover of the Year bracket.
This year’s wild card participants are:
[image error]1st Seed: Age of War by Michael J. Sullivan. This cover was the runner up in July and received 709 total votes. All those votes came up short against Asunder.
2nd Seed: Metal and Stone The Awakening by Kevin Potter. This cover was the runner up in March and received 307 total votes.
3rd Seed: Siren’s Lure by Frost Kay. This cover was the April runner up and received 288 total votes.
4th Seed: Unrelenting Tide by Alexa Dare. This cover was the October runner up and received 282 total votes.
5th Seed: The Flipside by Jake Bible. This cover was the May runner up and received 172 total votes.
6th Seed: Blackwoods: The Beginning by Teressa J. Martin and Adaline McMillan (I can’t find a webpage for them). As the November runner up, this cover was automatically in, but with 155 total votes, it got in on it’s own merit as well.
7th Seed: The Saint’s Rise by Michael John Grist. This was the December runner up and it received 150 total votes.
8th Seed: Born to the Blade by Michael Underwood, Marie Brennan and Cassandra Khaw.
These covers all got in because they were received the highest number of votes in their respective runners up categories. They’ll be matched up the highest vs the lowest. Again, you don’t have to win to get in (though that’s nice). You just have to get into the top four.
Because of what’s going on at Brackify, we’re on a tight schedule. This contest will go from right now until midnight on Dec. 18. That gives the 2018 Book Cover of the Year Bracket the two weeks it deserves.
I wish these books and authors all the luck in the world.
The link to vote is here.
Thanks for reading,
Matt
