A traditional Vietnamese American Thanksgiving Dinner

Cooking a Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner VietnamEazy style

This year, I decided to cook instead of going somewhere else. I always enjoy this process as it allows me to be creative. Despite my little cold, I was motivated and ready for the challenge!

I wish everyone, who’s company I enjoy, could all gather around to enjoy this feast.

Here’s what’s on the menu this year:

Appetizers:

Dates wrapped in Bacon

Meatballs Vietnamese style

Dinner:

Roasted Turkey brined and marinated in VietnamEazy spices

Baked yams in brown sugar, citrus, and cinnamon

Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Green beans VietnamEazy style with fried shallots, lemon zest, and parsley

Hawaiian bread bacon and dates stuffing

Grand Marnier cranberry sauce

Turkey gravy with giblets

Dessert:

Store bought pumpkin pie (quite disappointing)

Bánh Cuốn and the Middle Class in Vietnam

First breakfast in VN. Bánh cuốn. Rolled rice cake. Reminds me of my childhood.

It is also nice to see a growing number of middle class families dining in nice resrtaurants. In the past I would not have seen so many fine restaurants and young families enjoying themselves.

I remember starving children waiting for me to not finish my Phở so they can eat the left over broth.

Feeling a little lonely for my family.!
