My Bonsai Oak Tree

What happened  on a day in May?  When we went closer we saw the wood shavings on the ground and when we looked up there was a perfect hole. Barry looked in and jumped because two eyes stared at him. Has the Green Woodpecker moved in? Waiting patiently for babies!

Certain brown creatures are banned from this area!

Jacarandas

image

Sybil loved the Jacaranda trees that lined the streets in Buenos Aires. William found their first home in Caseros. The family of three watched the fireflies in the hot summer evenings but troubles were brewing in Europe and soon the peace would be shattered! Cry for me Argentina is available as a Paperback and as an eBook from Amazon.

Puppy five a side Rugby

For this game you need:

A referee – ideally a liver/roan bitch with a ten star milk bar.
Five – Liver Field Spaniel puppies (the Browns)
Five – Liver/Roan Field Spaniel puppies (the Brites)
The object of the game is to reach the milk bar and latch on and stay on. Not easy when there are ten in the scrum.

The Brites come forward at a thunderous rate and latch on but not for long – the wily Browns dive underneath and knock them off. The Brites fight back and the situation worsens. The referee interferes by turning the players over and licking them vigorously.

A mighty struggle ensues and the Browns manage to escape and re-form. The Brites overtake and latch on once more – chaos reigns with the Browns diving under.

Halftime – the teams are exhausted and the Browns gather together in a drunken stupor. The Brites are equally intoxicated with some lying on their backs like big spotted puddings.

The thuggish game resumes when the first Brite comes to and heads once more for the milk bar. The game ends when the referee leaves the pitch and the teams retire to their respective heaps.

DOG TALES & OTHER GEMS – Ghosts, Journeys & Field Spaniels

Dog_Tales__Other_Ge_Cover_for_Kindle

http://www.amazon.co.uk/-/e/B00JI0WY1Q

The Short Stories in this book have been written over the last twenty-five years. Most of them are about my experiences with my Field Spaniels. Others are about my travels. Some are true and others are figments of my imagination.

I am pleased to announce that nine of the articles have been written by other Field Spaniel aficionados. We all have the same thing in common: love for our breed whether showing, working or mostly celebrating them as our pets.

My friends and contributors are Rob Ellis, Malcolm Fowkes, Christine Messer, Clive Rowlands, Pamela Rowlands and Howard Taylor. A big thank you for taking part!

Later on I shall probably compile a further book as I already have an offer of an article depicting Fields in Australia that was too late for this book. I shall see if there is a response to ‘Going Global’. It is encouraging to hear about our breed doing well in other countries.

Enjoy your Fields and keep in touch.

Dog Tales & Other Gems

This book has forty-five Short Stories with an illustration for each tale. Most are about my experiences with Field Spaniels. Others include my holiday travels. Some are true and others including the GHOST stories are probably figments of my imagination!

It was quite an experience self-publishing this book because including photographs and clipart was an added challenge. I am not technically minded - pixels and dpi figures became a daily nightmare. I really don't know how people publish books for children. Then on top of it all was the shock of the prices! Fortunately the eBook will not be too costly.

I am now looking forward to returning to novel writing.
'Father's dead & Mum's Vanished' will be my second novel, the first being 'Cry for me Argentina'. The title may change as I go along. The story is about a daughter seeking the truth about her parents.

The Memoir will have to wait because this project will also contain photographs but I shall tackle it in a different way this time.

Any tips would be appreciated. Best wishes to my friends with their writing! Who knows I may finish the book I'm supposed to be reading.....

Understanding Goodreads

I joined Goodreads way back in 2014 but have only just started moving about on the site. The number of books on show is just carrying me away. I want to browse and put 'to read' on so many that I now need to put the brakes on! My computer skills are far from perfect, probably due to my age, and this means that I am more like a tortoise than a hare.
Just when I decide to put my favourite quotes on my Author's page the Quotes' space has disappeared. Also I would like to display the cover for my Field Spaniel Book - at present it is grey and empty.
My first novel 'Cry for me Argentina' was published on KDP and later I decided to use Createspace to publish it in paperback. The cover was changed on Amazon, but the old cover in blue came up on Goodreads - all rather confusing!
Now I am going to join the Librarians Group with the hope of learning more.
