A Bunch of Books I Read While Writing Blood Origin

You have to first be a reader before you can be a writer. I think most everybody said that. Stephen King comes to mind.

There are those who will claim that you don’t need to be, but I really don’t believe them. Mainly it’s because I don’t know how. I don’t know how you can learn to write if you don’t like to read.

And it goes without saying that if you don’t have time to read, then you won’t make time to write.

But this is, as the title says, only a bunch. Of books I read while writing Blood Origin.

Waitaminute. What’s Blood Origin? I’ll tell you in a little while. In the meantime:

Happy Trails.*

Disclaimer: these books link to Amazon. If you buy them, I may receive a commission from Amazon. Just so you know that I am not trying to trick you at all: the price you pay would be the same as if you just found them on Amazon. I’ve just found that using the Amazon direct links is much easier than copying and pasting lots of stuff myself.

I'm Back

It has been a long time since I published New Blood.
It’s been five years, to be exact.

Chalk it up to not having a plan. Chalk it up to directionless anxiety, not a small dose of alcoholism, and just not knowing what I was going to do next.

It took that long to figure things out. You have to write. If you write it, they will come.

Or something like that.

So there are lots of things on my plate right now.

New Blood is getting a revamp in the artwork. I’ve got the rough draft of Book #2 finished, and Book # 3 is halfway done. There is more Dana Hartman to come.

The website is under construction, but if you want to, you can check it out here.

Feel free to sign up, by the way. Join the conversation. It would be nice to hear from you.
And I will be sure that you hear from me.

Take Care

Shane

"I would have gotten something done this weekend...if I hadn't started this book on Friday. Characters with depth, a fast moving plot that often heads in unexpected directions- you'll want to set aside time for this read! Let's hope this turns into a series..."

Five Stars. Thank You!

A million thanks to everyone who has taken the time to download New Blood, which is still free until tomorrow.
It means worlds to me that it is out there and hopefully being read. Being an avid thriller/crime fiction/detective novel reader myself, I wanted to create something that would give people a few hours of enjoyment in this crazy world.
AND there will be more from Dana Hartman.

Second 5-Star Review on Amazon:

"Great book - I hope there will be a series. I have read over 300 books over the last few years, many from Amazon, and this is one of the better ones. The author seems to have a flair for writing. Can't wait for another."

I am looking for a few brave and generous souls who would like a free copy of New Blood and who are willing to help me out by posting a review on Amazon.
It's easy. All you need is a Kindle account, some kind of smart device with a Kindle app (or an actual Kindle), and that's it.
If anyone is interested, please contact me via Messenger.
